We contacted William Meckley (Bill for short) in July to obtain an estimate to refinish the existing floor in our living room. While we liked our existing floor it was looking a little rough after years of wear and tear. Bill came out to our house, took measurements and explained the process. Bill answered all of our questions and quoted a price, in writing immediately. We were able to schedule an appointment with Bill at that time. Bill told us that the process would take three days, and he would start around 7am each morning. The price Bill quoted us was less than a third of what it would cost to install a new floor. True to his word Bill, along with his son arrived around 7am on August 13th to begin the process. They put up a drop cloth to keep the dust from entering other rooms. We fully anticipated a fair amount of dust; after all they are using a large sander to remove the finish off of a floor. To our surprise (and relief) the dust was minimal. Bill uses a modern sander with a larger bagger to catch the dust. What the bagger didn't catch Bill vacuumed up. There was very little dust to be cleaned up in the room and no dust in any other room. After cleaning up Bill applied the stain that we selected. Bill had provided us a large selection of stain choices. For the next two days Bill came back and applied a heavy finish material similar to that used on basketball courts. The finish is to protect the floors from scuffs and future damage. I apperciate the fact that Bill made several trips out to apply the finish. This allowed time for each coat to dry and to receive proper adhesion. At the end of the work Bill provided written instructions on cleaning and maintaining the floor. Throughout the entire process Bill and his son were very polite and professional. They took the time to explain each step of the process. I would definitely have them back for future work.
