DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY DO THEIR CUSTOMERS DIRTY AND THE OWNERS WIFE IS JUST RUDE Approximately, 8 weeks prior to starting my landscaping project to install rocks around the parameter of my home and around my trees, I contacted a few stone companies to get pricing. I of course went with the cheapest bid and boy do I regret my decision selecting Stonebro out of Littlestown, PA. 1 - their website outlines they do business with commercial and residential customers 2 - their website ONLY shows pictures on their product, but they do NOT provide descriptions or measuring info on what size stone options they offer which is very shading business practices. Many of their competitors have much more customer friendly websites. 3 - you either can visit their location directly to see their stone firsthand or do what I did and make a phone call. With living in COVID times and more and more internet sales, I figured this was a safe approach! NOPE! 4 - I called Stonebro and spoke to Joe to get an estimate and originally request for the 1" to 3" stone. During this initial call. I shared detailed info on my project and that the stone was going to be used in my flowerbeds around my home and trees. I went into detail to share the color of my siding, shutters, front door and patio pavers to make sure I was getting a stone that matched the exterior of my home. However, during that call I was NOT able to buy or schedule because my landscaping project was over a month out from starting. With prices and gas fluctuating, they recommended to call the week before I needed the stone 5 - a week or so goes by and I call back as I have changed my mind on the size of the stone mainly because I have a 1 year old Black Labrador who eats everything including grass, weeds, sticks, mulch and rocks. She will move rocks around in the yard. I decided on the 3" to 5" rocks to help eliminate my lab from being able to eat and move them. This was shared with Joe and he gave me an updated estimate for the bigger stones. 6 - a week before my project start date, I called Joe to schedule my delivery which I ended up rescheduling for a few days later due to my landscaper having bad weather and was behind schedule on the previous project. Again, speaking with Joe. 7 - Finally, the day arrives for my 13 yards of 3" to 5" rock delivery. A gentleman comes to my door, and he has concerns that the rock I ordered is too big for my project as he sees my cleaned out beds lined with weed protecting linings. I said I ordered 3" to 5" and showed him those measurements using my pointer finger and thumb. He didn't say anything, but the vibe had me confused. He proceeded to ask me if I wanted them dumped in my yard or driveway, which I thought was odd because my landscaping was going to be using a machine to scoop an place the rock so I definitely didn't want the stone dumped in my yard so of course I said to dump them in the paved driveway. Never did this gentleman (owner) offer to let me see what was in his dump truck! 8 - The hydraulic arm goes up to raise the dump truck and BOOM, BOOM, BOOM comes 13 yards of stone. NOT 3" to 5" stone!! These stones are HUGE. I am a deer in headlights. I at once took pictures and send to my landscaper. My professional landscaper that has 20+ years in experience says the stones that were dumped were more in the 6” to 9” range. We had other competitors look at the stones and confirm that the stones that were dumped were not 3” to 5”. 9 – My landscaper and I tried to make lemonade out of these lemons and use as many of the smaller rocks we could use and place each rock strategically. Unfortunately, the rocks were too large and didn’t match my landscaping. I called Stonebro the next morning and the owners wife recognizes my phone number and answers. She immediately asked if anything was wrong, and I started to share my story (1 through . I don’t get to finish my explanation/concerns with hoping to come to a mutually agreed upon solution, but the owners wife is so rude cuts me off and says the gentleman that dumped the rocks was her husband. Finally, the customer service guy that I have been working with the whole time, Joe finally shows up and she hands him the phone. As she is handing over the phone to Joe, I hear her loudly say “good luck with this one.” Once Joe got on the phone I told Joe I heard what the wife said, and it was not appreciated. I started to tell my story again and the wife is in the background shouting that they don’t provide guidance or advice on rock selection, and it is up to the customer. Again, I repeat that I can hear the wife in the background and tell him that I can see that this phone conversation is not going to go anywhere. I told Joe that he was aware of my project and what was my intent for the stone, and never did he suggest or guide me away from these size stones and he NEVER shared that the sizing of 3” to 5” is truly not measured in the same manner as most common folks would think. Nevertheless, it is clear at this point that Joe their salesperson is not familiar enough with the products he sells and is not able to provide guidance to help customers. This is very poor salesmanship. I wasn’t making any progress for a resolution and decided to say thank you to Joe and I hung up. 10 – At this point, I am so shocked by the behavior from the owner’s wife and Joe as I never got to finish my point of view or even had an opportunity to try to remedy the problem. I went outside and talked to my landscaper because I am so upset, and my hands are shaking from this confrontational call that went NO WHERE. I had a rollercoaster of emotions from being mad, crying, and laughing all within a 5 minute conversation we my landscaper. When I came back into the house, the owners wife called and left me a an unapologetic voicemail for her behavior and bad attitude. I decided to take some time and let my emotions settle. 11- Around lunchtime I asked my landscaper to contact Stonebro and see if he could come to a resolution. When he called he also got the owners wife who was rude, ignorant and degraded my landscapers experience and told him he didn’t know what he was talking about. Wowza, my landscaper has worked with many stone companies and worked at other local landscapers and has lots and lots of connections within this industry. My landscaper was shocked at how rude the owners wife was and that she had no concerns about making this situation better. 12 – I called back a few minutes later and this time Joe picked up and I wanted to be clear that Stonebro was not going to be do anything to help fix this situation and they were holding their stance that the rocks they dumped were 3” to 5.” The response was they were going to do nothing and that they played no role in this. At this point I am forced to order 4 more yards of the 1” to 3” stones to try to fix my landscaping with Joe. He takes my order and says that they will need to do 2 separate runs to deliver my additional 4 yards of smaller rock and can do it the next day. 13 – Half hour later, the owner’s wife (witch) calls me back to cancel my order and that they aren’t going to do business with me, but I am more than welcome to purchase from the Westminster Lawn Landscaping Supply that is in Hanover, PA which they happen to wholesale their stone to. I said no thank you and contacted Schaffer Mulch & Sunset Bus lines in Hampstead and got as good of pricing and delivering the next day. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS! They aren’t familiar with their products and are uncapable to provide customer guidance for what is best for their projects. Their lack of information on their website is questionable business practices. The wife is so nasty so don’t willingly put money in her pocketbook. Take your money to a business that is more deserving and cares about is customers. 14 - So I had about 7 yards of rocks left over and to eliminate having to pay $350 to have someone come and take the rocks from the driveway, I posted them for FREE in both HOA groups that I own property, offered them to the West Manheim TWP, and many others and was able to share my horrible experience with Stone Bro. I gave away 7 yards of 6" to 9" rocks to many folks within the community was my way of helping others and taking these stones and making lemonade. Do you research and make sure that you do NOT purchase rocks from Stone Bro or anywhere they wholesale.
