The finished product looks great. Chris and his team were professional and efficient. Some minor communication delays, but his price was fair and the outcome great.
Description of Work: We had a mason build a retaining wall around our patio 10 years ago. However, the wall began to slide and the stucco applied began to crack. We later learned that it was because they had put a drainage pipe but then covered it with clay, not sand and rock. Chris and his team completely removed the wall (and identified even more issues) and rebuilt the wall utilizing a version of ephenry blocks.

I can tell this is a very busy business and relatively small (which I like). I started discussing the project in May 2014, signed contract in late May with a projected date of Oct 2014. Due to weather and other jobs taking longer, my job got pushed a bunch, and finally was able to be completed in Jan 2015. The day they were to come, I called off work just to make sure things would be ok. Chris did not show up until 11:30, which was quite odd to me, and I had called the office number a few times with no return call. He did have a reason (pet emergency) but I would have liked a bit more communication since I work and rearranged my schedule. Other than that, job was done extremely well, as quick as it could go in 20 degree weather (few more delays due to snow, Yep outside jobs are terrible) but in the end, my steps look the best on the block! Chris helped me pick out the color and I love it. Once he realized how type-A I am, he started texting me pictures while on the job, which made me feel 10x better, since I was at work. Extremely reasonable price too (got some other estimates from others and they were high and didn't offer stamped concrete). Chris was able to stamp it PERFECTLY centered in both the top and bottom landing. It looks great!!

Overall, the Masonry , Inc guys were very professional, efficient, and responsive to our concerns and requests for changes. The patio looks great and was done within 1 day of the anticipated time frame. Chris Natalini is knowledgeable and good at what he does. We had some water leaking into the basement along the foundation line and the new patio which the guys addressed and fixed immediately. There were some very small details missed (e.g., missed a small area in the corner of the patio when sealing it, but we didn't bother to mention it). Would definitely recommend them- reasonably priced and good workmanship. Update- Chris offered to reseal the patio without us even asking. We'll definitely hire them again for others projects!

First of all I would like to give Ashley the secretary an "A" in this review. She returned my email request in a timely manner and then we spoke by phone shortly thereafter. I inquired if Masonry, Inc. came into the Norristown area .Ashley responded she would check with Chris the owner. After checking she confirmed they did in fact do the Norristown area. Ashley stated they were so busy, the only time they could do estimates was on the weekend. We set up an appointment for Sunday, August 17, between 1:00 and 4:00. On Sunday morning @ 10:30 Chris called to say he was not going to make the appointment because he does not do work in Norristown. He said his secretary was new and was not aware of this fact. However, as previously stated, on the initial call Ashely took the time to confirm with Chris that he would do a job in Norristown. I would have been happier had Chris taken the responsibility for the change in plans and not blamed it on the secretary.

Chris and his crew removed our existing driveway, approximately 12 feet by 25 feet. They excavated down 12 inches, removing all rocks and tree roots etc. They backfilled with 6 inches of 3/4 stone. They poured a 6 inch thick reinforced colored concrete slab. They stamped the pattern into the concrete. They came back the next day and sealed it. We now have a beautiful driveway that looks like a cobblestone street. The crew hauled away all debris. All the crew was clean, punctual, and professional. We would recommend them to our friends. They did A+ work.

Very easy to work with. Chris gave me a detailed description of the work that would be done even prior to giving me the formal estimate. Price was very competitive. Even though the job was delayed by weather a few times, Chris made sure to let me know changes in schedule. Patio and step look great, and Chris even took care of little things like replacing top soil and putting down grass seed on parts of my lawn that were adjacent to the work area. Would definitely use them again.

I emailed a description of the work needed to be performed along with five pictures that clearly showed the damage and requested an estimate. I received no response to my email. I resent the email twice, once a few days after the initial email and once about two weeks after the initial email. Again, no response. I called and left voicemail messages on multiple occasions. Again, no response. After three weeks, I had the work done by someone else.

I bought an Angie's list big deal for a poured concrete patio. Chris Natalini, the owner came out, looked at 2 sites in our yard where we needed a walkway and new patio and gave us a clear understanding and estimate on how much it would cost. He left a brochure with styles and colors and we agreed on a date to begin work. Demolition work was delayed by several days of rain, and a stronger existing patio than was expected. Rather than taking a half day, it took several days to complete demolition. Due to more rain, it took another week to pour the patio. Chris and his helpers did an excellent job with the completed patio and clean up. It was a frustrating experience for all of us because of the weather delays, and it was more messy than I anticipated. The concrete dust was everywhere for a couple of weeks. I am very pleased with the final result and would recommend Natalini Masonry Inc. in the future.

A crew arrived on time and proceeded to knock down the two steps. They were careful not to create a mess and hosed off any dust and small debris that was created by the work. I live in a townhouse and they were careful not to disturb my neighbors property and vehicle. They picked up all large debris and placed it in their truck. They completed the work in one day and placed cones in front of my steps and advised me not to walk on them for two days. The steps look good and I am pleased with their work.

Chris & his crew put in front & back concrete walkways. The initial consultation & estimate process was easily scheduled & his pricing quite fair for the work required. He obtained the needed permits & then the actual installation was done. the front walk required a lot of prep work-6 inches deep & approx 45 ft long! There was also a very large tree stump they had to dig up. The pouring of the concrete had to wait a week due to rainy weather, but the day they did this it went very quickly. The whole crew were very friendly & courteous-they even brought my trash cans up from the curb twice! Thanks guys! They cleaned up everything nicely afterwards too. I would definitely recommend this company & use them again in the future for any relevant projects.

I scheduled an appointment for an estimate and to get further information on a stamped concrete patio. On the scheduled day, I received a phone call from Chris saying he was behind and would be a little late. He arrived a little late, just as he told me. He was nice and was thorough in looking at and estimating the job. He gave me a price for concrete and pavers. However, we went with another contractor who was a bit cheaper and had done a paver walkway for us before.

1. Steps were installed the week of 8/12/13. 2. The crew was sloppy and unprofessional. We complained to the owner Chris Natalini. He stated we would be happy by the end of the project. 3. The walkway was installled the week of 8/19/13. 4. I sent the following complaint: On Aug 22, 2013 I just got home from vacation and did a quick night time inspection. I have the following concerns. 1. I noticed the no concrete work has been done this week. 2. The side walls were poured after forming the step(I have always been told side walls are done first and I wrong?). 3. The steps do not line up with the existing piece of sidewalk. 4. The brick walkway appears to be set below the level of the surrounding grass (I was under the impression this would create drainage problems along with premature deterioration. Can we set a time to meet at my house and review the project? Does Saturday work for you? I AM NOT CLAIMING TO BE AN EXPERT AND AM COMPLETELY OPEN TO BEING MISTAKEN IN MY UNDERSTANDING OF PERCEIEVED PROBLEMS. If we could review in person I am sure you could put most of my concerns to rest (or if you run your business like I run mine get your crews squared away quickly if they did make serious mistakes). Thank you for your time, quick responsiveness so far. I?m looking forward to adding a very positive review on Angie?s list and working with you on many future projects for myself any hopefully building a relationship so you are my go to mason for my customers. 5. On 8/22/13 Natalini construction sent: I can get out there Saturday to talk with you. Just to answer some of your questions, 1. I started another project not expecting the sidewalls to look the way they did. After I saw them I agreed they needed to be fixed. So we're wrapping up this job and will be over to fix the walls as soon as we're finished here. 2. It doesn't matter whats poured first, its a matter of preference of the mason. Some feel pouring the side walls first is easier and visa versa. 3- We lined the steps up to your walkway entrance not the existing concrete pad. 4- I laid the brick walkway myself and I followed the pitch from the concrete steps to your brick steps. Some of the walkway is level and some is below grade given the fact that your yard in uneven. The 4" of stone laid under the walkway will take care of drainage and will not create a deterioration issue. If any of this doesn't make sense hopefully I can clear it up Saturday. Let me know if you have any other issues. 6. Next correspondance from Natalini construction 9/6/12 Ill be getting over there September 12th to finish up your steps. The railing will be installed shorty after we're finished. I just wan to be clear with the railing installation. We'll be putting the railing in the side walls not the steps. Does that work for you? Let me know. 7. Railing put in week of 9/16/14 8. Work completed week of 10/3/13 It took almost 2 month. We were not happy with the work and complained to the owner of Masonry Inc. 9. We refused to make the final 1/3 payment due to poor work. . 10. Masonry inc offered us a $420 discount 11/12/13. We refused. 11. On 12/17/13 the owner of Masonry Inc. Threatened to have the railings removed from our steps if we did not pay the final 1/3. We informed him that we had cameras filiming the area and would press charges if the steps were taken out. 12. On 12/22/13 we sent a detailed complaint including pictures showing the steps already falling apart. We cannot get a response from them. 13. As of 5/26/14 the steps sidewalls are falling off, the steps are sliding toward the street and the brick walkway is sinking into the space where the steps were. The entire project needs to be started from scratch. We have emails documenting everything

I saved all the emails also. After I learned this member was trying to rip me off money that was owed so I backed out. I even discussed this member with Angie's List for suggestion on how to deal with this member. Here are the last emails between this member and I. Hey (Remove member name), I haven't heard anything back from you. I feel I've been more than willing to work with you on remedying this issue and I was willing to do what it takes to make it right. I worked out a deal with the iron company that if I return the railings he'll refund me the money. So in my unsuccessful attempts to solve this issue I have to go this route to try to make up some of the lost funds on this job. My only question from here is what would you do if you were in my position? You tell the customer you'll replace the work or give a discount on the price and the home owner is still unwilling to work with you. Am I at fault here? I apologize for how this turned out, I've done all I can to make it right. Chris Chris, You have done a great job trying to fix this. I will send you the check for $400(Could you re-email me the exact amount owed). I have not been in the same place(state) for more than 20 days in months and working day and night. I apologize for my poor responsiveness. I will give you a positive Angie’s list review as an apology for my lack of communication. Despite our concerns you offered every possible solution to fix the problem. Again thank you and I apologize. FYI I will be super busy. Utah today, Las Vegas Tuesday, Philly Wendesday and back to Vegas 12/1 so if you don’t receive the check by the end of the first week of December email me again. Sincerely, (Remove member name) Chris, For a $400 discount I am not willing to accept steps which are uneven and cracking already. I thought you were proposing to take $2000 off the final payment. Sincerely, (Remove member name) This member owed $2,400.00 As you can see, this member was willing to accept the work as long as I removed $2,000.00 not $400. After this email I knew he was trying to get over on me and I walked away from it before it got worse.

Chris is a topnotch mason. From the first contact with him, we were impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail. His pricing is very competitive and his flexibility with payment is very fair. He is responsive and kept us looped in to his progress. On the first day of work, he and his crew arrived right on time, as promised and got right to work. The entire project was completed on time and on budget and throughout the three days of work, he and his crew were hard workers, polite, reliable, and performed with great care and skill. They also were careful to keep the work area clean and free of debris. We are so happy with the final product - a great example of quality craftsmanship. Would hire him again in a heartbeat.

They appeared to know what they were doing. When Chris Natalini gave us the estimate, he said he would be on the job for at least a portion of the time, if not all of it. But when the men showed up to do the job, Chris was not there; they told me he was not available |It appears that the masonory work was done to our satifiaction along with the front lawn and walkway, and driveway retaining wall. The PVC pipe they used was not what we had in mind because it did not fit the Post Lamp properly. They probably should have told us that we should use something different so that it looked right. We would not use this company again because the owner said he would be on site and was not. Some of the decisions that were made might have been different if he had been here.
Description of Work: They took down an existing brick retaining wall (6' feet wide with adepth of 1'6" and another 1.6" by 1'6"). Cleaned and reinstall weep holes in existing cider blocks from both sides. Rebuild walls with new bricks as before. Removed and replaced stone caps, top portion of walls. Reset loose steps and repointed. Reset loose bricks on top of wall on driveway.|Ground down a concrete walkway section that was a tripping hazard. Lifted 1 sunken concrete walkway section to original height, and back filled a lawn depressionm with topsoil and seed. On one of the retaining walls, there was a mounted post lamp which had to be replaced. We asked them if they could use PVC piping as the base and they said they could. Also, there was a down spout that had to be reconnected about 18" under the ground. The workers were generally on time and courteous.

We're very happy this member was pleased with all the work they received. I have to apologize for not being informed there was an issue and i'm reading it on Angies list for the first time. To my knowledge everything went very well and this member was pleased. This will be a lesson to myself, as we grow to meet the response we're receiving from all of our happy customers with Angie's list I will give a call to all of our customers after the job is completed to make sure they are completely satisfied. I don't want to sacrifice quality as we try to allow as many members on Angie's List as possible to experience a job done right by Masonry, Inc. Hopefully I can fix this issue with this customer with a simple phone call and possibly change their minds on using us again. Chris Natalini Owner

Although on the younger side when compared to other contractors that submitted bids, Chris was more professional and timely in his responses - many times responding to an email within 30 minutes regardless of the time of day it was sent (we told him straight up that we ask a lot of questions). With the work, which I considered to be a pretty good size job, I interviewed 6 people. 3 didn't even bother responding or following up even after I sent them a note asking if they would be sending in a bid. Of those 6, when I asked about their thoughts on expansion joints, joint set up etc., in the concrete, 5 of them said "we'll put them wherever you want them". My response was "that is why I'm asking you. You should know." Chris was the ONLY one who immediately responded with what the Codes and Standards were for joint placement. Chris was on site each day to oversee the job and personally did the stamped concrete himself. His crew cleaned up nicely at the end of each day. I recently had my garage converted to living space and the contractor put up a brick facade where the garage door was previously. After Chris' crew ripped out the old asphalt driveway, he showed us how the brick facade was installed incorrectly. The prior contractor built the facade right on top of the crushed stone and 2" asphalt. Chris indicated that code and best practice was for brick to be laid on a more solid structure such as concrete or cinder blocks. Before the driveway was poured, he had his guys dig out the old asphalt underneath the facade and they poured concrete beneath it to stabilize the facade. And he didn't charge me for it. In summary - professional, went above and beyond expectations, didn't leave a mess, and was reasonably priced. He is my first call for any future concrete/masonry needs. 100% recommend.
Description of Work: Masonry Inc did a few things: 1. Removed existing asphalt driveway and installed 6" concrete driveway a bit larger than original. Totaled about 700 sq feet. 2. Ripped up small concrete pad near a back door that previous contractor installed incorrectly. It was about 3' x 8'. 3. Ripped up old, severly cracked, severely settled/slanted 12x20 patio and installed new 13'x24' stamped concrete patio.
