Chris was able to start before he originally intended and was able to finish in just four days. The results exceeded my wife and my expectations. the job looks great and they cleaned up well. I couldn't have asked for a better job and the price was great. i had gotten other bids on exactly the same patio and they were way higher than chris's. I was a little worried since his price was so low, but went with my instincts and am very happy I did. He's a young guy, but very experienced. He and his crew worked hard and as I said we love our new patio. Would highly recommend Chris to anyone considering masonry work. ( I actually paid him more than his invoice since I was so happy with the job and felt he even did more than he had to.)
Description of Work: Chris Natalini built a flagstone and brick patio which was approx 240 sq. ft. He also repaired an existing brick patio that was contiguous with the new one.

I had crumbling bricks & stucco falling from the back of my house since a snowstorm last March. The damage was so bad that a window was hanging with virtually no top, bottom, or left side to anchor it to the wall. I could actually look through the wall to the outside. Chris Natalini arrived at my house promptly each and every morning. He continually assessed the damage as the job progressed. Chris is the consummate professional who takes pride in his work and does whatever he needs to do to produce a quality finish. Chris and his assistant built scaffolding and removed crumbling bricks. When he discovered that no angle iron was supporting the top of my window, he provided one. The debris was cleaned up and hauled away daily. Chris replaced the brick with cement block and new stucco. Finally, he painted the entire back of my house. While his assistant cleaned up, Chris went to a home improvement store to buy caulk and nails to secure the window. I pulled a "while you're here, could you" and Chris cemented and repaired an area on the front of my house. I am more than satisfied with the work of Chris Natalini Masonry, Inc. What a surprisingly stress-free experience. Chris is prompt, polite, and professional. I will use him again and highly recommend him to relatives, friends, and neighbors.
Description of Work: 1) Removed crumbling bricks from 2nd & 3rd story in the back of my house; 2) Replaced brick w/cement blocks; 3) Stuccoed the repaired area; 4) Painted 3 stories on the entire back of house; 5) Caulked & nailed window on 2nd floor; 6) Cemented a block where a tree had been removed on the front of my house; 7) Repaired missing stone on the front.

I needed spot repointing on my chimney. I called Chris on 4/8. He stopped by while I was not home and then sent me a proposal via email on 4/8. His price was comparable to that of the person who I hired, but I decided that I wanted to use a material other than Portland cement. [Coincidentally, I also called Tom Natalini & Sons on 4/8 and received a call back from Chris on 4/12 saying that Tom was his father and that Chris covers jobs in the suburbs for his father's company.] I found Chris on Angie's List under Masonry Inc., but his proposal listed his company's name as Chris Natalini Masonry, Inc.

I called Chris to get an estimate and he promptly returned my call and came over to give me an estimate. He gave me a good price and did an excellent job. Also did a very nice job cleaning up the job site when he was finished. Could not have asked for anything more. The chimney looks great! I could not ask for anything more!

Noticing some water damage on the wall of the back bedroom I checked the rear wall of my house and noticed cracks in the mortar. Chris arrived on time to estimate the job. I asked him to also give me a price to repair the cracked and broken concrete in the yard. His estimate arrived by email the following week. It included installing the angle irons, repointing the bricks and pouring a new concrete pad in the entire yard. The price, while higher than expected, was fair. We agreed that the work would begin the following Monday. Chris and his employee arrived Monday and cleared everything out of the yard while taking care to protect my plants in the garden beds. In the course of breaking up the old concrete he noticed two things. My backyard drains were clogged and the garden wall between yards was crumbling because there was no foundation. He gave me a price to rebuild the wall, I said yes. The entire job was completed in one week. Everything looks wonderful and no more tripping over cracked, broken concrete. Chris even cleaned out my drains at no cost!
Description of Work: Installed angle irons in rear wall of house. Repaired and repointed brick. Installed a completely new concrete slab in the yard. Built a new garden wall.

They were good. They called to tell us they were going to be about 20 minutes late. They sent an email with the estimate within a few hours. I called them back to see about an estimate for a smaller section. They made some suggestions using an alternative repair, using asphalt instead. He was happy to recommend some other providers if we chose to do that instead.

Chris came by to give me an estimate after an e-mail inquiry. He arrived on time, quickly sized up the situation and offered some helpful advice. His written estimate arrived via e-mail the next morning. His numbers were spot on and I hired him to do the work. The crew showed up two days later at 8AM. They quickly broke up and removed the old concrete. I left them to their work and when I returned they had already poured the new concrete. The work was done by noon. They cleaned up so well I couldn't even tell they had been there. Chris was careful to take the time to answer all of my questions and reminded me not to drive on it for a week. Great experience from start to finish. I wish all of my contractor interations went this well!
Description of Work: A poorly designed one foot wide concrete transition between my driveway and my garage floor was preventing the garage door from closing properly. The transition was bowed up in the middle and not level from front to back. It needed to be replaced before a new door system could be installed.

Chris was helpful and flexible about setting up a date for service for installing star bolts to an old stucco/brick building front. He and his crew showed up on time and went right to work. They also helped remove some trash/items my tenant had left behind in the space they needed to work. My street is a tight alley street, the house is old and sometimes difficult to work with. Not a problem for these guys, they worked around the difficulties. They cleaned up after the job. Happy the job went so well.

Excellent craftmanship. Chris carefully removed each stone from the original wall and very meticulously cleaned each stone of old mortar. Carefully rebuilt wall to look like new. Excellent craftsmanship. Also repaired and repointed side driveway wall--also excellently done. Repaired stucco on detached wall. Performed all repairs, also repaired stucco wall in areas that he determined needed repair, while repairing stucco. Despite doing the additional stucco repair work, Chris still held to the price agreed too. I would recommend Masonry Inc., to perform masonry/stucco repair without hesitation.

Everything about this worked out well. The phone communication was very good and the work was very good. We couldn't be happier with the results. We highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Our original request was to spot point the back corner and back side of house where we had lost a fair amount of mortar, and for the two pillars on front porch. Chris did this but also spot pointed many other spots that he noticed, including some at the 3rd floor level and on the front porch that we hadn't noticed needed work. All of this extra work was done for the same initial price.

Called NATALINI & SONS, prompted by high scores on Angie?s List. Call answered by Chris Natalini, Tom?s son, who told us his firm, CHRIS NATALINI, now listed as MASONRY INC, ?handles all jobs in the suburbs.? ~~~ COMPLAINTS: (1) Crew was removing and not replacing insulation until we paid $2,100 more for work we thought was included in original $8,900. We have paid other contractors (2) to replace damaged roof shingles which Chris promised to repair/replace [see picture]; (3) to fill 1-2? gaps around door and window frames and corners [see picture]; and (4) to dispose of bucket, rollers, and brushes, all dripping with sealing material in a flowerbed. ~~~ MAJOR COMPLAINT: (6) Stucco has been falling from chimney since it wasn?t applied over wire [see picture]. Chris had his father, Tom Natalini (NATALINI & SONS), look at it because ?he?s best at handling problems like this.? Tom saw the damage and assured us, ?I?ll make this right.? On the scheduled date, he said he needed to reschedule since the additional damage required scaffolding. Two weeks later he said the scaffolding was tied up on a big job. He promised that we were next on the list and he would call with a firm date. 12 weeks later we?re still awaiting a reply to our phone messages and e-mails. ~~~ COMPLETION DATE: Although we paid in full on 5/1/08, when major work was completed, touch-up crew was here 6/12/08, Chris promised to repair roof damage by 8/14/08, and Tom promised to repair chimney stucco 2/28/09, 4/09, and 5/22/09. We consider the job uncompleted. ~~~ FINAL COST is yet to be determined. We?ve paid CHRIS NATALINI $10, 800 ($1,900 over estimate) and other contractors over $855 so far to repair damages and correct errors.
Description of Work: ORIGINAL CONTRACT: Chip off and remove all existing stucco from house and garage. Stucco house and garage using a 2 to 1 mix yellow bar sand and masonry cement type N. Also adding a bonding agent. With stipple finish. ADDITIONAL CONTRACT: Apply plywood using 2 ½” screws. Apply tar paper on top of plywood using staples. Chris checked out the patio and had an estimate to us over email within a few hours. We had scheduled the work for 5/6 but he had an opening the day before and gave us a ring to see if it was ok if he came a day early. The two man crew broke up the patio within a few hours and hauled everything away. When they were finished, they did a very thorough job of cleaning up after themselves. We plan on replacing the patio with pavers ourselves and Chris provided us the names of a few distributors that we should check out. Overall, excellent work and great communications. We would definitely use them again!

It went well. Chris was very patient with our questions and special requests. We wanted a smooth-edge (bullnose) finish on the front step, which had to be special ordered. Chris kept us informed about the status of the order. Once he went to work, the project was completed quickly. We are very happy with the finished product. Chris and his assistant left the site clean. All communication was positive and professional.

I believe the estimate was a few thousand. It took them several weeks to get back to me, and they stated that they would not do the job. I had requested a guarantee of the work, and so I responded to their e-mail to see if they would not do the work because of my request for the guarantee. They responded that this was not the reason, but I believe it may have been. I do not believe they were honest with me.

I was in the middle of doing an extensive remodel on my kitchen, when we realized the walls were sitting on untreated wood; there was not a proper crawl space, concrete slab, vapor barrier, etc. under part of the kitchen floor that had been added by a previous owner. Termite damage to joists and studs were uncovered, so we had to scramble to find someone to do the work to fit in with the rest of the construction schedule. Chris came through for me and I think his price was pretty reasonable considering how many trips back to my house he had to make to work around the other phases. He was a pleasure to work with, honest and very hardworking. He did everything he said he would do and removed debris as soon as possible.
Description of Work: This was actually 2 separate jobs. The first involved excavating dirt under my kitchen floor for a concrete pad and building proper footings with hollow block and poured concrete. Because the level of the floor was raised, Chris had to add a flagstone step under the new slider out to the patio. He also re-stuccoed the exterior wall where doors and windows had to be raised. He also painted the repaired stucco. The second job was lifting stone on the patio that had shifted and suffered water incursion. He backfilled and re-laid the stone, taking extra time to match the new mortar with the old which is an unusual color. He also reset 2 other flagstone steps properly (that another contractor had repaired in a sloppy way). He re-pointed areas where the stucco wall meets the patio to prevent water from getting under the stone again.

I chose the company because I had read really positive reviews on the company from Angie's List. I had also read positive feedback on Chris Natalini, one of the son's. Chris came to give me the estimate and he was on time. I signed a contract with him and scheduled a date to start the work. The day before the scheduled date, I called to ask if he was still coming the next day because I found out that it was going to rain. He said that he would be coming to at least do some work even if it was raining. I was not going to be home the next day, so I left a check for the deposit out for him to pick up. But when I got home it was obvious that no work had been done but the check had been taken. So I contacted him and he said he had come and taken the check but did not do the work because of the weather. When he did come to do the work, he came in the afternoon and only worked for four to six hours. He did complete the work and it seems to be done well. Unfortunately, when he left there was a lot of cement splattered on the sidewalk, but I did not bother calling him to have him come back and clean it up. Overall, I was disappointed with his work hours and the quality of the clean up.
Description of Work: I contacted the company to have them come out and rebuild the top half of my chimney. I also had them perform pointing on the chimney and repoint parts of my home.

Overall Chris and his crew did an outstanding job. They offered me a fair price to replace a retaining wall which collapsed, when other contractors' prices were unrealistic. I asked Chris to quote the replacement of an existing concrete patio, and he gave me a fair price. His crew were polite and worked very hard when on the job. Chris ran into a few issues during the project, but did not try to raise the price. In fact, he over estimated some of the materials and credited me the difference. That's honest! I would definitely hire him back for future work. Thanks Chris!

This turned out to be a huge project. The whole time this member was understanding and flexible. Even making my whole crew hot dogs for lunch which was great. Even though there were a lot of unexpected issues which came up. There was no need to raise the price for the materials dumped was no extra cost. This is something I believe a lot of contractors do which is something were not involved in. Giving a refund for extra materials not used is just the right thing to do. Thank you for viewing me in this way. In my opinion the best reference is word of mouth. This member gave my name to his neighbor which later produced a new project for my company.
