He came with a crew and did some work for me. Once they started, we had some disagreements with what work was to be performed. Aside from the big deal that I purchased, I paid $150 for addtional work to be done. He offered to refund my money, but will not answer the phone when I call. I have also left numerous voicemails, not having any response.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal from them for $99. I also asked to have additional work done.

Chris Natalini was exceptionally responsive and honest, worked with us at every step to provide exactly what we wanted, was assisted by clean-cut and polite workers, did all work on time and (better than) as promised, and he explained all choices and stages of the work. The finished work was outstanding, transforming the appearance of our home at an extremely competitive rate. Everything was left in ideal shape, and he and his staff left everything neat every day and then cleaned up thoroughly and thoughtfully when the work was finished. His advice was always on target. Compared to others we consulted, his understanding and diagnosis of problems were always on target. He is A+ contractor.
Description of Work: Chris Natalini excavated an existing patio (disposing of everything), backfilled the area with stone and other materials, installed a herringbone patterned patio, built a retaining wall, built two sets of steps, and repaired a chimney exterior (replacement bricks, repointing, cleaning, and painting chimney).

Chris completed the work in an urban setting with the poperty being an attached home. He was very respectful and careful of the neighbors homes that were connected to my home. He installed a stone center and cement in a pattern. The detail is exactly alligned and designed with precision. The job was finished in the time that was agreed upon. He did a excellent job and I love it! I strongly recommend Chris for any type of cement and masonry work for others in the future. I would indeed hired him for work again.

We had noticed some cracks forming in the morter/between bricks in a couple spots and bought the Angie's Deal coupon to get them checked out. Chris came within 24 hours of our call to provide estimates and point out some more siginificant cracks we had not even noticed yet. He gave us great suggestions and options for repairs and possible future projects as well as suggesting some do-it-yourself improvements we could make to our patio. He did not try to 'sell' us anything or over sell any services - just honest, fair assessments of what was critical versus optional. We contracted to have all the critical work compeleted and were thrilled with the quality of the finished work. Work was done quickly and efficiently and I hardly even knew the crew was here. Very minor complaints - 1 plant got pretty smashed (but has survived) and there was a lot of dust left at back door job. Overall - very pleased and as soon as we are ready to do more masonry work Chris @ Mansonry Inc is the only person we will call!

Angie's List emailed me with a Big Deal coupon for masonry work with Masonry, Inc. My husband & I had been putting off some brickwork for a couple years because we thought it would be an expensive venture, but the deal was for $99/4hrs. of masonry work. So I bought it and soon after Chris Natalini of Masonry, Inc. contacted me to set up an appointment to come look at my job. I couldn't be home that day so he said he'd leave the estimate at my front door, which he did. We agreed upon a price for the work but because of the weather & my schedule it couldn't get done for a few weeks. We finally came up with July 21 as a service date, even though I knew I was going to be out of town. Sometimes you get that feeling of trusting someone, even if it's over the phone! I was worried that the new cement would be so white against the old cement, but Chris assured me that he would do his best to blend in the color. When we got home a few days later we could barely tell the difference. We still haven't met Chris, but I've spoken to him several times & to tell him thank you when the job was finished, but Chris Natalini of Masonry, Inc. is now in my permanent file for a recall or referral if ever needed again!
Description of Work: The top row(or top ribbon, as I later learned it was called) of brick on a 3 ft. retaining wall, on the patio, was broken & falling down and a few bricks on the patio were missing. Chris Natalini, of Masonry, Inc. gave us an estimate (after buying his Big Deal for $99 for 4 hrs. of masonry work). After finally coming up with an installation date (my fault, not his) he completed his work & even replace some bricks on the second ribbon (layer) because we had let the first ribbon go so long. Chris also replaced the missing bricks on the patio. Here's the kicker...he had told me he would do his best to match the new cement to the 15 yr. old cement that was on the rest of the wall, & boy, was he true to his word. It looks FANTASTIC!

See above for the story from start to finish.
Description of Work: For the $99 Big Deal with Natalini Masonry, I won 4 hours of service. As the project took a day and a half with 2 men, the total price with the $99 included was $539. The project was our front entrance concrete slab which connected our front door and led to several steps down. Unfortunately, there was a huge gap on either side by the stairs of that slab which was very deep and getting worse. I had estimates of $1500 to $2000 to fix the problem. While the "Big Deal" meant that Chris Natalini, the owner, was swamped with offers, he responded to my e-mails fairly promptly. He said the men would arrive at 9:30 and they did. They were very professional. Even in the extreme 100 degree heat, they worked very hard all day. When each man needed at one time to use our bathroom, he was courteous. On his own each took off shoes before entering and thanked me for the use of the facilities. As I was concerned about the mailman coming on the slab before it was dried the next day, they put up yellow tape at the entrance to the steps to warn anyone not to go on the fresh cement. The next day they spent another hour or two taking off the wooden sides to keep the mold in place. Again they rang the doorbell to let me know they were there and again when they finished. My husband and I were very pleased with the work as it looks great and they filled the gaps with a brand new slab and cleaned up the area they used very neatly. I would use them again any time. It was truly a great bargain and their services are excellent. Jeanne Edwards

They had to make sure that they kept everything out of where my dogs were. It was a very personalized service. If it was inappropriate for them to be working there on a given day because of the heat, they would call and let me know that. They showed up when they said they would and got the job done within the timeframe they said they would. I didn’t have to worry about coming home and move things.

Overall the work was done efficiently and it came out great. They worked hard (in the hot sun) for about a week and got a 200sq. ft patio completed. No problems at all. They went above and beyond to do a great job
Description of Work: My work was done by Chris Natalini, Tom's son. He has his own business. Chris made a new patio out of flagstone and brick. It came out beautifully and the price was way less than other estimates that I got. Would definitely recommend him to others and use him again if needed

Very good experience. I actually had the work scheduled with Chris's dad, who could not do it due to an injury. Chris has a separate company and was able to do the work. He returned all phone calls promptly and was very professional throughout. He went the extra mile and even reinforced the side of my chimney from the basement... a structural need that the other estimators didn't notice. (While doing this he inadvertently blocked the air flow in the duct next to the chimney... all it took was a phone call and he came back out in a couple days to correct it) Chris even let me film some of the work for my business (Phil's Firewood) to use as a "how to" project. The only thing I would change if I did the work again would be to use old bricks to match the brick wall I exposed, instead of new bricks. I take responsibility for not thinking of this and requesting it at the beginning. All in all, a great experience and I would definitely recommend Masonry, Inc.

Did not use services - too expensive
Description of Work: Chris Natalini came promptly and was very professional when we met for him to review the work that needed to be done. However, the price he quoted me for the work was extremely high and about $7000 more than another company (also well rated on Angie's List), and we went with the other company.

Chris was pleasant, professional and responsive. We couldn't believe that the problem was fixed the day after we called him. We would hire him to fix any problem associated with masonry.
Description of Work: We suddenly had a horrendous flooding problem at our basement door when it rained. Water was coming through the outside concrete steps and under the door. We called Chris Natalini and he came out the next day. He fixed the problem the same day by digging up part of our basement steps and installing a French drain. We were amazed when the next time it rained, he called us to see how things were! There was a slight amount of water - nothing to mop up - in an area near the steps, and he came back the next day to do additional work at no charge.

When I called Chris Natalini to get an estimate for the work I needed, he came out to my property within an hour to take a look at the problem areas. I had an estimate emailed to me later that evening. He started the work within two weeks of me signing the contract. The work involved replacing six steps that had deteriorated over time and were in an unsafe condition. He saved me $500 by successfully preserving four steps that were recently poured and in good condition. He also reinstalled the hand railing after the concrete steps had cured. I also wanted to address cosmetic issues with the adjoining porch. He was able to spare me the cost of having the porch replaced and instead, repaired the problem areas of deteriorated and cracked concrete and then coated the porch with a concrete veneer material called Planetop X. My chimney was also in need of spot pointing in areas as well as the chimney crown was cracked and needed to be repaired. Finally, the foundation for an addition has a cosmetic crack that spanned the majority of the foundation wall. He saw cut the crack and filled it with hydraulic cement and stucco the entire foundation. I did have an issue with some finish work around the newly poured steps. However, Chris came out the next day and finished it to my satisfaction. He completed all of this work in one week. I am completely satisfied with his work and will certainly use him in the future for any more concrete and masonry work I will need to have.

Immediately felt this was a knowledgable contractor: He identified and described the problem, identified solution and then addressed the problem. The estimated price seemed appropriate for the proposed work. The final price matched the estimate. Following completion, some dampness was observed on the walls, and contractor promptly returned a phone call to explain the reason for the marks. After the work was completed, contractor recommended colleagues who would drywall over his work and complete our room.
Description of Work: Basement walls were scraped, washed and cleaned; then rough-casted cement coating was applied to walls. Contractor was punctual, delivered the services as described and agreed to, performaed the work quickly, cleaned up and removed debris afterwards.

It is hard to find an honest and reliable contractor these days and Chris Natalini exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, Chris was on point, courteous, professional and the experience was excellent. I am a Realtor who had to get this structural repair done for my client. I called 7 Masonry Contractors for estimates on this job. Chris Natalini called me back in 15 minutes. Out of the other 6 I called, 1 called me back 3 days later and 1 called me a week later. The other 4 never even called me back. Chris met me at the property the next day and sent me a very detailed written proposal by email within 3 hours of our meeting. His knowledge of the repair and exactly what had to be done was very impressive. Chris comes from a strong Masonry family business and has been doing it for years. I wanted to hire him right on the spot but I had to wait for other bids for fairness to my client. The one contractor couldn't come out because he was away. The other one canceled once before finally showing up. It took him 2 days to get me a written estimate only to come in at a much higher price than Chris. Chris was able to start the job right away and for as complicated as this job was, he completed it in 2 days just as he promised. He did a phenomenal job. It was done perfectly and exactly as his proposal stated. The structural engineer, buyers, and the other Realtor were very impressed with his work. He also put the wood flooring and carpet back and cleaned up the site before he left. It looked like he was never even there. As a Realtor, I am in a position a lot where clients ask me for contractor referrals for home repairs. I am allways hesitant to do this because I don't know many that I trust to either show up or do a good job. This is a big reason I belong to Angie's List, which was where I found Chris. Even getting estimates these days is an adventure. I will highly recommend Chris Natalini and Masonry Inc to all of my clients and colleagues and feel safe knowing that they will get expert work done in reasonable time and at a reasonable price. I also plan on having Chris out to my house to do some work soon. I wish there were more honest and reliable contractors out there like Chris and Masonry Inc.
Description of Work: Completed a starbolt system in an older Philadelphia rowhome to support/anchor the front and rear brick walls to the second floor of the house. As recommended by a structural engineer, the house needed 3 in the front and 3 in the back. Chris Natalini did as follows: Removed sections of second floor needed to install rods, and bridging. Drilled through front and back with a 1" masonry drill bit. 2 feet from each party wall and one in the center. Installed 6- 6' 3/4" all thread rods threw 4 floor joists, nuts & washers on the inside and nuts, washers and stars on the outside. All stars were painted and holes were caulked. Installed 2"x6" bridging on load bearing joists and torqued stars to 50psi. Put back hardwood floors with finish nails. Cleaned Job site when finished.

From the initial consultation through to the completed service we had an excellent experience. Chris kept us up to date and provided us timely communication from getting us the quote, sample selection and raising questions as the work was being done to make sure we were getting exactly what we were expecting with the driveway and hardscaping done. Any issues that arose, I never had to ask about as Chris was already either addressing the issue or making sure that the issue was addressed. Chris and his entire team were extremely professional and courteous through the entire project.
Description of Work: Completely replace existing driveway, widen the driven and the apron/skirt at the end of the driveway (approximately 20x50 ft finished) and extend a pony wall along the front of the house to extend a raised bed and around to the edge of the house to hide an exposed gas meter. The existing asphalt on top of concrete driveway was removed and replaced with a properly graded concrete stamped driveway. The concrete was colored in the mix, so it was not just a surface application, finished with a stamped brick pattern. The apron/skirt of the driveway and portion of the sidewalk was widened and replaced with poured standard color concrete.

Chris Natalini and his crew were terrific. Chris is very talented and must have studied engineering concepts under his fathers tutelage. Chris worked with his father for many years before starting his own company, three years ago. Chris told us laying the sidewalk would take 4 to 5 days. After having to cancel the start of the job for a week due to rain, work started as predicted and was finished in 4 days. The new sidewalk looks great and will make entering and leaving the house much safer and easier (no step down or up anymore!). From past experience I know that ramping a sidewalk is not easy so I was particularly impressed with Chris' design and expertise in this area. I would definitely recommend his work to others needing the same or similar expertise in their masonry contractor.
Description of Work: Removal of old sidewalk. Set in frame, stone and wire mesh for new concrete. Poured, leveled and tamped new sidewalk which was graded to include ramping from the old stone front porch. Added expansion lines to the concrete while still wet. Added new soil and grass seed to sides of new sidewalk since it was raised to a higher elevation than the old.

Everything went smooth. Chris came out and gave me an estimate. We scheduled the work a week later. Chris and his partner arrived the day they said they would to do the work. They got right to work. When the job was done the area was cleaned up well and Chris's worker took the time to explain to me exactly what was done to repair the chimney. He was professional and courteous. The job was professional. Chris and his helpers worked through some really hot August days, but they finished on time and completed the work at the estimated cost. When the grade outside the house was raised, it brought the ground level up to the (low) vent opening for our clothes dryer. Chris sealed that opening and cut a new hole for the dryer, higher on the basement wall. It was then that I mentioned that the washer and dryer were in the wrong positions and needed to be switched (washer where the dryer was, and vice versa). Chris moved them while he was giving us a new vent opening for the dryer. The day after they applied the water barrier to the foundation, we had a day-long downpour. The trench was still open and it had a lot of water in it, but we had a dry basement floor!
Description of Work: For years, we had water on our basement floor after every heavy rain. To fix it, Chris and his helpers dug down about 5 feet along the outside of the foundation, down to the footers. The trench extended about 20 feet along the back of the house, around a corner and 15 feet along the side. They put a layer of tar foundation coating and a plastic water barrier on the foundation wall. They took out an old bathtub and a railroad tie wall near the corner of the house that were sending rainwater in the wrong direction (toward the foundation wall instead of away from it). Finally, they re-filled the trench along the foundation and added topsoil, to raise the contour of the yard near the house and give us better drainage away from the foundation. They cleaned up everything when they were done.

This is the fourth job Chris has done for us over the past 3 years (chimney repair, construction of a retaining wall, and replacement of front walkway) and he did a great job as usual. His craftsmanship always exceeds our expectations. His estimates are realistic and fair. He was able to repair our porch instead of demolishing the old one and starting over which would have cost a lot more. He stays in close contact through email, phone etc which is a rarity in my experience. There are no work interruptions. Once he starts the job it will be promptly completed. The work site is meticulously cleaned up when the job is completed. Our repeat business definitely speaks for itself.
Description of Work: Chris replaced the cracked sections of our outdoor porch, extended it to accommodate a bbq grill, and finished the whole area with stone.
