Chris took over the chimney job from another contractor who could not do it in time and I was so please with the way he worked that I kept asking him if he could do other jobs for me. He was great to work with, went out of his way to be helpful and to talk over different aspects of some complex and difficult situations. He managed to get the price down on couple of the jobs by finding other ways to do it that were just as good or better. He and his guys were clean, polite, professional and I will be using them again.
Description of Work: Chimney, resetting the slate on top of a very large chimney, repointing the top of the chimney having a putting a chimney cap manufactured and placing it. Sidewalk, removing and replacing some areas of broken sidewalk. Entry, removing a rotten grate that served as an entry to a door over another door that accessed the basement, replacing with a heavily reinforced concrete pad, removing old railing, removing broken brick from railing and replacing with new brick. Concrete floor, breaking out concrete floor to allow for new plumbing fixtures.

I had some small cracks in the masonry on the back wall of my house so I eagerly purchased this deal and scheduled the work. Of course the four hours of the deal did not seem enough and of course there was an additional charge for materials, none of which I would have minded if the work had lasted more than a few months. Overall, very disappointed with the results.

Response from Masonry Inc
We did a repair for this member on a wall that was in very bad shape. I mentioned to this member that a repair wont last and I cannot guarantee it. This member did not want to spend the extra money to do the wall right. I cant make a repair last over a unstable wall without fixing the underlying issue. Im sorry the repair didn't last and will be willing to fix the entire wall as needed to ensure structural integrity, this work I can guarantee. I'll even deduct the initial payment from the total cost.

They only did a small area, not the area I wanted them too. Upon seeing my report, they contacted me and asked how they could make it right. Within a few days, Chris Natalini came by to look at the work and where I had wanted it done. He offered to take care of that area within the next two weeks or so. I will update once they have done the work, but give them an "A" for responsiveness to my complaint. Update: they came very promptly and did the work I had wanted done originally - and then some - at no additional cost. I am completely satisfied and highly recommend Massonry, Inc. In future, I will do a better job on my part to make sure that I have clearly communicated my priorities and concerns before a job is done, and make sure that everyone is on the same page.

I am very pleased with the work done. The contractors arrived promptly and finished the work within one day. They arrived in the morning before I left for work and were done at the end of the day.
Description of Work: Water damaged ornate arch made of a stucco-like material was repaired/rebuilt and damages steps of cement were repaired. The step cement was crumbling and now looks great. The arch was not easy to repair and was rebuilt and repainted to look like it did before the damage. I used a coupon for the repairs so it took a bit longer to schedule, but after the estimate, the work was done promptly. The price was also very reasonable compared to other estimates.

Overall the experience was very satisfactory. Danny and Nick who worked on the house were very good people. They were respectful of the property and courteous to us. They were on time. They set up scaffolding to get to the upper levels of the house. All equipment was put away neatly before they left for the day. They kept their word and returned to put finishing touches on the work even after final payment was made.
Description of Work: This was a bi-level 1950's brick exterior house. The pointing was from original construction. There were many holes in the existing pointing and it may be the reason for some dampness in the basement. The chimney had broken off and the flu pipe was in pretty bad shape. Chris stopped by to provide the estimate. Two of his men came to do the work at a date that worked for both parties. It took about two weeks to complete. The work could have been done in a week but the weather didn't permit it. I learned somethings through the process 1) not to say CAP the chimney which means close the chimney out. Rather I wanted to put a cap on the flue pipe. But Chris and his men were very accommodating and did a wonderful job. 2) to place tarp on the deck so that the cement mixture does not fall on the wood directly. Some debris falling is inevitable but even when you try and clean up (because they did every time) the cement does stain the wood.

Everything went really well. Response time from my initial call was quick. The estimate was furnished fast and professionally and after my acceptance of estimate the scheduling and execution of project was great. My first contact with Chris was on 6/28/12 the job was completed on 7/17/12. Chris and his crew are very professional it was a pleasure to do business with them.
Description of Work: Front chimney needed repair due to age and weather. Bricks and mortar very loose and chimney also needed a new cap. New caps were needed on rear chimney too. Chris and his crew removed several layers of bricks and sawed out existing joints and then pointed. The chimney was then rebuilt exactly to original look ( my house was built in 1926 ) everything blended perfectly. Rear chimney caps installed and everything looks great.

Chris did all this work and it cost me about 10,000. Seemed like a huge sum but Chris really did try to work with me, and for the work that he did it was a fair price. Chris gave me accurate time estimates, daily updates, and even when he was faced with adversity he came through and made sure I was happy. Towards the end when he was fixing the positioning of a star bolt he lost his balance and his foot went through my ceiling but he lathed, plastered and painted over it and it looks as if it never happened. I'd recommend Chris and would use him again, he has integrity and most of all expertise.
Description of Work: I have a 100 year old 3 story brick row home. I noticed some bulging and a big gap between my window and the structural brick so I knew I needed star bolts. I found Chris on Angie's list and he recommended that I get an engineer to come look at it. After the engineer came out she recommended 8 star bolts, replacing my wooden lintels and fixing the gap by my window.

Chris Natalini and his crew are consummate professionals. They called before they came to do the cement pad installation, arrived on time, and performed the installation with meticulous attention to detail and getting it right. Chris personally made sure that the work was done correctly and that it was exactly what I wanted. I was greatly impressed with Chris' high standard of excellence, his honesty, and his dedication to meeting the customer's needs. I strongly recommend him and his company to anyone who wants a first-rate job done at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: The service performed was the installation of a 12 ft by 4 1/2 ft cement foundation 5 inches thick supporting a layer of cement blocks rising 4 inches above ground. This cement pad is to be used for a new central air conditioning unit and a standby genrator.

I emailed Chris on a Saturday afternoon after finding him on Angie's List. He called me on a Saturday night and we set up time for him to come by on Sunday afternoon. By Monday I had a proposal and on Wednesday he and his team were onsite doing the agreed upon work. My family and I just moved to the area and have had horrible luck finding contractors and other helpers to get our home in order. I could go on for pages about the poor service we have received from electricians, landscapers, painters, and other 'experts'. I finally decided to try Angie's List when I had a need for some hemp waterproofing my basement and doing some external foundational work. Chris was an absolute breath of fresh air. Coming from the south my wife and I were beginning to think that all contractors in the north were difficult to work with, overpriced, slow, untrustworthy, and poor at their craft. Chris proved us totally wrong on all fronts. He completed the job with the utmost professional attitude. Delivered it on time. Within budget. And even did a few extra things that I did not ask for but he felt would give me a better result. Not to mention, both him and the gentleman helping him were extremely polite and cordial to my wife (who works from home) and our babysitter who was onsite for a few hours while he was working. It is great to find a trustworthy contractor in the area. I only wish Chris and his team did more. I have a ton of projects that need attention and the only reason I haven't done them is because I can't find people who I trust. That said, I have another job that requires Chris's skills and have that pegged for the summer/early fall. I will certainly be calling him. Great service, great guy. Thanks Chris.
Description of Work: Masonry Inc. helped me clean my basement walls and paint them with dry lock. They also helped me repair some of the foundation work around the outside of my house where cracks were appearing. The basement is fairly large and had plenty of storage in it. Chris and his team had to move a lot of our belongings in order to paint all of the walls in our basement.

Part of the stucco on my chimney fell away due to strong winds mid January 2102 and I wanted to repair it before things got worse. Chris, the proprietor and mason came out in a timely fashion to give an estimate upon request. I liked the way he explained how the work would be done, and why. I could see for myself that there were some underlying structural issues with the chimney blocks and that the chimney itself lacked caps for the flue pipes. His proposal would cover taking down and rebuilding the portion that needed it, and then re-using the pipes that were still good and provide caps for them to finish the job. He took care of the township license which was included in the total cost. The job site was prepared nicely (he even removed some brush and small tree limbs there were in the way for me, which he really didn't have to but was nice enough to do that). He kept up with updates and we communicated by email throughout the entire process. I felt good about his professionalism and communication style. Pretty much on the level with progress and snags. He cleaned up after the job was done and now the chimney looks great with caps and matching shade of stucco finish.I'm happy with the way things turned out and would be glad to use his service again.
Description of Work: Took down half the chimney, rebuilt it, put on scratch coat and then put on the finish coat of stucco. Make shade of stucco to match current. Put caps on chimney flue pipes.

The entire experience with Chris was a pleasure. He responded to my email inquiry very quickly. He came out within a few days to look at the work and provide an estimate. He was very accommodating of my schedule in arranging the appointment. He provided a reasonable and fair estimate and provided an accurate date on when the work would begin. I asked about a crack in my garage floor -- Chris was very honest and said it didn't need to be repaired. He was honest throughout the process. He started the job as promised a couple of weeks later. He experienced some delays due to the weather (we had several days of rain). Throughout, he kept me informed of what was happening and what would be next. On the day of the concrete pour for the sidewalk, I was home. Chris and his associate were meticulous in their work. He informed me that they would need to repair a small part of my driveway so that the sloping would be appropriate. That work was done very well. The sidewalk has already earned the compliments of neighbors. They were neat and cleaned up the area each time they were here. Chris even pointed out that my back faucet outside is leaking; he checked it out and offered to fix it if it wasn't too big of a project!. Chris and his associate were incredibly professional. I would use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Chris did some concrete and masonry work for me. Specifically, he replaced my entire sidewalk (including an area in front of my driveway), replaced the concrete apron in my garage and repaired a crack in the side of my garage.

While it took some time to schedule anappointment, Chris and his assistant arrived on time and, after a brief consultation, performed the work that was agreed upon. They were very professional, efficient and did an excellent job, especially sensitive to my needs to use a grout that would blend as well as possible with the existing grout that was aged for more than 60 years. The result exceeded my expectations!

Chris showed up with assistant and went right to work. He stuccoed around the entire house making sure everything was left nice and clean. He fixed the problem with the deteriorating backstep and fixed the crack in the front porch (slab). My husband and I checked out the job at the end and ask about a spot that was hidden by shrubbery and Chris was very obliging and took care of that too. Our original estimate was for stuccoing the back of the house ONLY but after Chris arrived he told me that he would do around the entire house at no additional cost. We were very happy with Chris's work and level of professionalism.

I have been waiting since June to have the work done. The owner is not very professional. I have initially purchased a Big Deal, but he did not follow-up on that purchase. The work was never done. He kept rescheduling the day of appointments . SECOND REPLY This deal was purchased in June 2011, I left several messages in June i didnt hear from Chris until months later after I cld angies list to complain. angies list had to lv a message as well then I heard frm Chris the appointment was rescheduled from oct to november due to weather When Chris showed up I asked a few Questions about the work 2b performed he became annoyed and was rude when I asked about the poles 2b placed to keep neighbors off my curb I advised Chis I was going to get a cup of coffee and would return . He cld me on my cell and informed me he dealt with people like me before and that ! was nothing but trouble and he would refund my money I agreed. once I thought abt the long wait I cld him back and asked if he could just do the cement blocks he said no!!!! HIRE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!! Hes not worth the trouble. The best part of this transaction was my refund!
Description of Work: Chris was supposed to repair two half blocks on the edge of my curb. He was also supposed to put in two poles to designate the edge of my driveway.

Response from Masonry Inc
This member bought a big deal coupon when I ran the add in June. They were advised when they purchased to contact me to set up an appointment. When this member contacted me in October they were angry that it took so long to set up an appointment. Angie's list and I explained to them it was their responsibility to contact me. When I met with this member they were very rude and I still setup the work to be done at the end of October. We had a lot of rain and I had to reschedule to November 1st. When I showed up with all the material plus had the site marked by PA dig this member was rude again. So $189.00 spent on my end already I decided it would be best that I refund their $99.00 and advise them to find another mason to do their work.

Chris and company did a fantastic job. He kept in touch during the entire process and the work was second to none. They replaced an old built-on air conditioner with brick, as well as removed an old kitchen vent fan and bricked it in. They cleaned up after the job and performed it in the time they specified. I would highly recommend Chris to anyone.

This was a scheduling mistake On my end. I scheduled this member on the following Monday. As you can see from all my reports this is very unlike me, I didn't even realize I missed the appointment until I seen this report. I called to try to explain what happened and try and make up for it but this member was not interesteded . I completely understand why they wouldn't. I understand some customers leave work early to meet me and if I don't show I could really mess up their day. I am deeply sorry for the inconvienence I caused this member and I'm working hard to make sure this doesn't happen again. Chris Natalini President

I purchased 4 hours of masonry work through an Angie's List deal. Chris was very busy due to the response, but he manages his business and scheduling in a professional manner, so although it took a little time to get the work done, it was not a problem. He had to cancel once due to a family emergency - but he called me from the hospital. He had to cancel again due to weather, but he gave me advance notice. The third time he had to cancel I guess was not so great because he had gotten held up at another job and neglected to call me at all. That said, he then came the next day - a Saturday - to do the work. I have no real complaints about the fact that there were delays and cancellations. On the whole, he did what he said he was going to do and did a nice job. He's a nice young guy who seems to know his trade and is honest and good with details. Either he or his assistant did dump their leftovers under a shrub at the side of the house and now I'll have to clean that up; would probably be good policy to ask where the homeowner would like that disposed of; I could have found a better location for sure. As to the chimney repair from years ago, they seemed to do a nice job.
Description of Work: They fixed up a botched cement job from a previous mason who had installed our cellar door. They removed the old cement and reapplied proper mix in the proper amount and also tuck pointed the stone at the edges. It turns out that Chris also had mortared our chimney stacks shortly after we moved in, but I did not realize that when I hired him because our neighbor (we have a twin) had done the hiring.
