At Action Air Conditioning and Heating, we have been providing customers in the Greater Philadelphia area with heating and air conditioning services since 1967. Our longevity in the business says it all—we are a company our customers have come to trust and spread the word about, because who doesn’t last this long without a spectacular word of mouth?! We are an HVAC company that provides a number of maintenance, repair and installation services. These not only include the installation of various new heating and air conditioning systems, but we can also perform heating repair jobs, and we have also come to be known as an air conditioning repair company residents have come to rely on since the beginning. In fact, with our roots based in Bucks County, we will always seek to provide the best services for those who have been around and with us since Manny Lomas started the company.

Very responsive crew.
Description of Work: our AC unit broke on the hottest day of the season. Not only did they send someone the same day, they were able to replace the unit (which was more cost effective than repairing since it was a very old unit) the next day.

Description of Work: Broken air conditioner was evaluated promptly and installation of a new air conditioner was arranged for the next day. An experienced and skilled installer and his assistant handled the new installation and the new unit - a 3-ton unit from Armstrong by Lennox - outperforms the 3-ton unit it replaced. We are very pleased with this company and would use them again.

Description of Work: Like others, I was scammed into buying a new compressor for over $3,000 in 2014 after someone came over and hooked some gizmo up to the unit and said it was no good. Now a year later my tenants had the same exact problem with the A/C. Turns out it was a slow leak in the system and very unlikely that the compressor was at fault. A friend of mine just recharged the new system for $125 and it works. We have to fix the slow leak...but the leak certainly wasn't in the old compressor or the new one would have fixed it. These guys DO show up promptly (evenings, weekends, etc.) when you are most vulnerable to having someone scam you. My recommendation is to NEVER call them when your back is up against the wall...as they will scam you. I did have them put in a new compressor in one of my apartments about 12-13 years ago and they did a good job for a fair price. It seems others have had a good experience with them too. I don't know why they now resort to this scam.

We went out to Mr. [Member name removed] last June 2014 for a service call. His 12 year old compressor was very weak, and pulling high amps. We replaced outside condenser with a new unit. At the time of install we pressure tested the A/C system and there were no leaks, inside or outside. Now a year later he has a similar complaint but with older systems other parts of the existing inside unit or even lineset can fail. Since we only replaced the outside condenser, we can only speculate that another portion of his older, existing components are starting to fail too. It is unfair of Mr. [Member name removed] to say his current issue is related to an issue he had over a year ago.

Description of Work: Replaced air conditioner as well as air handler. Their estimator thought originally that the existing air handler would suffice, but that proved incorrect after the first week of usage.... therefore we had to also upgrade and replace the air handler in the attic. They were able to schedule the work on Monday of the next week, and we're happy to report that my wife, who is only comfortable at 70F completed the Summer in total comfort in our 1869 sq. ft. ranch home.

It went horrible. He made the problem seem MUCH worse than it was, he said it would take up to 48 hours for the ice around our pipes to thaw (they were thawed within 20 minutes) and implied that our ceiling would cave in because of the amount of water. He did not even change the filters, which was the cause of our problem. He quoted me an absurd amount for work that didn't even need to be done. I called to speak with a manager, it has been a month and I have gotten no response.
Description of Work: Our a/c unit was checked, but no work was done. We were charged $150 for hysteria, he did not even change our filters.

The unit was frozen over and we explained to the customer that we would come back the next day to take care of the problem when the unit thawed because it was impossible to work on the unit while it was frozen solid. We attempted several times to contact the customer and could not reach her.

My overall experience I would rate them at a 6 on a scale of 1 through 10. There was a lack of professionalism during the installation. A condensate drain was not properly installed. It leaked onto the floor. They used the old dirty air filter from the original furnace. There was no explanation of proper care and maintenance of the unit. Finally I had to clean up scrap metal and sheet metal screws, that were left all over the yard as well as cigarette butts. They were not in proper professional attire. However, when I called to get the problem with the drain fixed it was taken care of. I mentioned the lack of professionalism described above to the follow up service person and he insisted that he would take care of it. So at least there is a ''Professional'' working for this company.
