Made up bogus bill and gave it to my husband, who has dementia, when I was working and took off with 10,000.00 of our money. Reported him to BBB and am waiting to hear from them.
Description of Work: Was hired to do bedroom and bathroom. Was paid 9,195.00 up front on 9-4-14. Never started job until 1/2/15. Had my money that whole time. When he finally finished bedroom,[ which still had issues that needed to be fixed] he wanted another 8,295.00 on 1-27-15 to buy supplies for bathroom. When I questioned him on several charges, he refused to give me an itemed list. Then he insisted he start on a Monday in march I said my husband was sick. He said he didn't want job.

Response from Habitat Building Group
I have received the complaint about my business from [member name removed]. In this letter I will try and explain the frustrations that I have been dealing with. On July 15, 2014 [member name removed] signed a contract and wrote a down payment check to Habitat Building Group for $9,195 for a bedroom and bathroom renovation. We scheduled to start the first week of August. Unfortunately, the room we were supposed to do work in was not cleaned out of all their belongings. [member name removed] reassured us that we could RE-schedule the job for two weeks later while she cleaned the room out. While already scheduling the first time and missing out on a potential client she proceeded to ignore cleaning the bedroom once again when I tried to start the projects the second time. It was then when I had to schedule for the third time. Finally, after waiting 6 months for approval to start the job, we began it on January 9, 2015. The job consisted of demo of entire bedroom, new electric, insulation, drywall, spackle, paint, hardwood flooring and two new doors along with custom trim work. [member name removed] complimented and showed her happiness on her finished bedroom that we renovated for her on social media. Once the bedroom was finished I collected the second payment to begin the bathroom. I ordered all of the material which included a special ordered window that she chose, special ordered floor and wall tile that she chose, insulation, drywall, vanity – cabinet – mirror that she chose, subfloor material and a pocket door. All of the material was stored in our enclosed trailer. The bathroom job was scheduled for Monday February 18, 2015. I explained to her that we will be there Monday morning at 7 am and that we would be starting the bathroom. I received a phone call late Sunday night saying that she was not ready and that she needed to clean the bathroom out. I explained that we could help out with the very small amount of things there was to clean out. She verbally objected. That week I had to lay my employees off due to my schedule already being planned in place. Now there was no work for my employees. Thursday February 26, 2015, I called [member name removed] and asked if she will be ready for that following Monday. She said Yes. I made a phone call to another job to push them back on schedule so we could begin [member name removed] bathroom. Monday March 2, 2015, [member name removed] was again not ready for us to begin the project. I decided to try and RE-schedule the job I just pushed back, but it was then when I found out we had lost the job to another contractor because it was under a certain time limit project. I decided to start scheduling other jobs in front of [member name removed] in order not to lose anymore potential work. I always made sure to stay in contact to see if and when she would be ready for us to start the bathroom. Wednesday March 18, 2015, [member name removed] started complaining that she wanted to change things in the bathroom. I agreed we could, but we would need to have have a change order contract signed and it would be required that more money would be needed upfront. [member name removed] then started saying that the tile she chose was not what she wanted anymore. I explained to her that it was special ordered and was not returnable. [member name removed] was very unhappy and told me she wanted me to pay for new tile. [member name removed] then demanded an itemized list of her contract. I explained that I would have it to her by that Friday. Monday March 23, 2015 [member name removed] and her husband verbally broke my contact with them when they explained to me they did not want me to finish the job. After 8 long months of scheduling, rescheduling, and losing out on potential work, we returned all of the drywall, spackle, subflooring, vanity – cabinet – mirror, and pocket door. A special ordered window was not returnable along with the tile that she had picked out. I wrote a check out for #,910 to [member name removed]. She cashed it. I also gave her an itemized invoice for the bathroom we completed and new invoice I had to make out for the labor and gas for picking up – storing – then returning all of the material for the bathroom. The new invoice also included us losing out on potential work after having to reschedule several times. We tried to take the special ordered tile to [member name removed] house but her and her husband demanded that they did not want it. I am still trying to return it to the manufacturer it was purchased from. If I can I will return the money to [member name removed]. [member name removed] was notified by me explaining that they will either have to take the tile or will have to wait until I will be able to get rid of it. The tile was specifically picked out by [member name removed]. I am the proud Owner of Habitat Building group, LLC. I take a lot of pride in what I do. The company I am building is being built on my promise to bring the best craftsman to anyones doorstep along with staying dedicated towards customer satisfaction. I have never had to deal with an unhappy homeowner. We have received numerous outstanding reviews from most of all of our customers which are posted right on our website. I tried to resolve things with [member name removed] and her husband but she would not allow me to. She has been very complicated to work with. We are considering having a “Type A” classification with our personalities and dedication from a very happy homeowner. I have done everything I can do to resolve this issue. However, I cannot have Habitat Building Group be responsible for any compensation to the [member name removed] for their choice of tile.
