Everything went great. I am so much more pleased with Heckman's service and efficiency than with my former company. The guys were friendly and very informative. A+!

On time, septic clean out was lower price, alarm needed more work than initially thought and they recommended replacing pump - but as I was selling, I forwarded information to new buyer to decide. Price shown for clean out.

Knowing that it was time to get our septic system pumped out, we decided we should also change out the effluent pump (we have a sand mound) which has been there since the house was built in 1990.  While the pump was still functioning, it has already served for 25 years, which far exceeds its life expectancy.  We thought it would be prudent to do this since the ground is hard (late summer so the truck can get in without damaging the grounds) and this would be a convenient time.
We spoke to a few "septic service companies" and generally they thought this was stupid - especially since I wanted to do the pump replacement personally.  They said, "Why fix something that isn't broken?" and "That's something better left to the professionals."  And I strongly considered doing just that - especially since I am new to sand mound septic systems.
In frustration I went to AquaFlow-PUMPS INC. and asked about who locally they would recommend.  A helpful gentleman, Jeremiah Schafer, suggested that I get in touch with C. F. Heckman & Son, INC.  "Speak to Josh or Betty he recommended."
A few days later I went to C. F. Heckman & Son, INC. and looked up Josh and Betty.  While they tended to agree with the advice I had received elsewhere, but they were also willing to assist me if I decided to go ahead.  We set up a pump date about a week out.  As we were finishing the transaction Josh offered to stop over "on the way home from work and take a look at my system for me.
Josh Leibensperger stopped by later in the afternoon, and thank goodness he did!
He looked over the system, pointed out key features, explained its functioning, then broke the bad news..."your system is not working properly."  It turns out the effluent pump definitely needed a replacement as it was no longer functioning.  The alarm had not gone off because it too was not working properly and the effluent level in the tank was "very high." He personally changed his company's schedule so he could get a truck in ASAP.  Sure enough he had a truck out to us early the next morning.
Much to my surprise Josh had come personally to oversee the operation and then he proceeded to advise me.  His help and advice were extremely valuable.  He also told me he would do the pump replacement if I changed my mind about doing it myself (he would be "on the clock" ).
[I have a few investment properties and do approx. 98% of all the plumbing myself - but even so...I had some trepidation about doing this changeout.  If YOU decide to do this - be extremely careful - the gases in the tank can be quite fatal (as well as possibly flammable) and besides plumbing there are electrical issues to contend with as well.  This is NOT a good weekend warrior project, so generally it's better to call someone like C. F. Heckman & Son, INC.]
Fortunately, after an "exciting day of adventure" all worked out well, but it wouldn't have if I hadn't been fortunate enough to deal with C. F. Heckman and Son Inc. and especially Josh Leibensperger and Betty (the very kind lady behind the "no whining" desk).
In summary: C. F. Heckman and Son, INC.  >> I would highly recommend this group.  They went above and beyond when it came to identifying a problem I didn't know we had, and assisting me to a successful outcome.
