Description of Work: In early August I saw Clark's Tree Service up the street working at a neighbor's house, so I approached a workman asking for an estimate to prune two older silver maple trees that are in my front yard. The workman gave me a card and said I should call and speak to the owner, John Clark. I telephoned and Mr. Clark came to my house within two days and we discussed pruning back the trees. He gave me an estimate and said that the work should be done in October. Come October I gave Clark's a call back regarding the estimate and time frame and the crew was here the following day! I was most impressed by this. They arrived on time, I spoke with the man who was heading up the crew several times throughout the day and we again talked about the tree pruning, the shaping, the condition of the trees (not great, but they still have a lot of life left in them) and the final outcome. The man was quite honest regarding that the trees would not look great after the pruning job, but in the springtime they will look much better. I should say that these trees many years ago were pruned very roughly in what is known as a "hard-cut" style. They were literally topped down to the main trunk -- the one silver maple much more than the other. In any kind of a high wind or rain storm tons of little branches and many other bigger branches would be blown from the trees and cause a lot of clean-up work in the yard. In these last storm and winds that we've had almost no branches blown down. The tree are so much cleaner looking and overall neater and far more beautiful in their shape. I think the canopy will be lovely come springtime. I also want to add that the man who headed up the crew that day also took into account the general beauty of the trees as well as the relation of the trees to the house. He took great care to trim down the top branches of the trees, but not below the apex of the roof line. In other words they don't look like silly, stumpy trees that have been randomly chopped. He also took into consideration that there shouldn't be any empty or bald spots in the way the branches appear on the tree Basically the trees are still serving to compliment the house and give shade. For people who like trees as I do this is very, very important. The crew finished the entire job in one day and cleaned up the area well. The workmen were polite. I was home throughout the majority of the day, only going out for 30 minutes two different times, so I was able to discuss the progress, the pruning process, etc., However I don't really think that would be necessary if someone would not be able to be at their house on the day the tree trimmers were there to do the work. I just like to talk about these things and only spent approx. 5 minutes two to three times talking with the man who was heading up the crew (very sorry I don't even have a name to refer to him by). I appreciate his willingness to communicate. He was more than willing to discuss the process and the plan/direction for the trees. Finally, I recommend Clark's Tree Service for big jobs such as this where a tree isn't just being removed, but must be shaped and beautified not only to look good in and of itself, but to compliment your home for years to come.
