Stay away! Do not hire this company!! Fraudulent charges. Lies. Manipulators. Everything was covered by insurance but they are sending me bills for an additional $$$$ and claiming it’s computer error they can’t fix. So called project manager never came out to check on workers. Flooring salesman came out while workers there but he never went in to check on their work. He stayed outside and chatted then left. Painters painted the powder room that was not supposed to be painted and now there is yellow oily substance running down the wall from the paint they used. Worst experience ever.

I dealt with Mellon following a devastating fire involving smoke damage to my home. This company provides the worst service I have ever seen, in any aspect. Very unprofessional. Even more bothersome is the lack of honesty, which pervades each and every employee from Jim the owner to Sue the customer service rep to the manager Charlie and Phil. The work was done subpar and a shop vac stolen from my house. Our move-in was jeopardized by incomplete work and heavy smoke odor following 8 months of displacement. The paint job is the worst I have ever seen. When questioned, Charlie was so insulting and rude. Phil the project manager texted me at work 40 times arguing about incomplete work and damaged porch furniture. Sue was difficult to deal with and reach and made payment difficult with questionable professionalism in handling checks from State Farm insurance. It took a letter addressed to Jim Mellon to resolve my issues, and he short-changed us on furniture damaged by his employees. This was after months of trying to work through the issues created by Mellon Restoration. Mellon Restoration made a difficult situation 100 times worse. Getting someone to come to fix the poor workmanship was like pulling teeth, and still incomplete. The leather furniture that was left in the rain and ruined was "reimbursed" $400, which we accepted to just get on with our lives. This company listened to our complaints of damaged and stolen property, poor workmanship, and rude behavior and made it seem as if we were trying to get something that was not paid for. This was reinforced by every company employee. I cannot even express the frustration and stress caused by Mellon Restoration.

absolute worst. a bunch of total clowns. had to have floors sanded and the night before they called and asked what they should do with all our furniture. came home and found all the furniture stacked randomly throughout the house everywhere. could not get upstairs, in the kitchen. fired them on the spot and these ******** left the furniture where they had dumped it. NEVER HIRE THEM. and they were recommended by our insurance carrier.

Mellon lied about obtaining permits and inspections. Mellon did not obtain permits and inspections. Mellon did not perform the work as contracted and paid for in insurance claim. Mellon did not rewire per USAA insurance contract; instead Mellon put new three prong outlets, fixtures, and switches on water damaged old knob and tube. Mellon refused to fix. I had to hire electrician to fix the issues. I am out of pocket more than $10,000. Run far away from Mellon!

I cannot say enough good things about Mellon Certified Restoration. One month after a 5 month long renovation of 4 bathrooms in my home, sewage backed up into and out of my basement guest bathtub and toilet into the fully carpeted guest bedroom/ closet/ large living area. Mellon was sent out by USAA, my insurance company, that same evening at 9:30 pm to do the initial cleanup, disinfection, removal of affected drywall, baseboards, insulation and wall to wall carpet and pad. They returned over the course of the next 5 days with special equipment to dry/dehumidify, and clean the air. My out of Town Thanksgiving guests were able to stay in the basement guestroom just a few days later—no odor at all. Every single employee was respecful, kind, courteous, helpful, sympathetic, understanding, and hardworking. There were at least 3 people for the cleanup. Because I was so pleased with their cleanup work, and because USAA recommended Mellon for the restoration I used them for the restoration as well. The Yeadon Branch manager did the quote for the insurance company. The restoration involved moving all furniture out including 7 floor to ceiling book cases, packing 100 boxes of books and LP vinyl records, replacing and painting drywall and baseboards, removing and replacing 1000 sq ft of carpet. All of this was accomplished in FOUR days by 8 people. Everything was put back in the EXACT order in which it was found—books, LP’s, knick knacks, furniture. The only difference was that everything was dusted and cleaner than prior to my sewage catastrophe. I have sung my praises of Mellon Restoration (Philadelphia Metro Branch in Yeadon, PA) to all of my friends and my homeowners association.

Prompt, professional and explained services clearly, so that there was a clear understanding of what needed to be done and costs.

The first job began in July and was not finished until September. Sometimes, several days would pass where the floor contractor (only one person to install the wood floor throughout our entire first story) would not show up. Everyone was very nice and professional, but It seemed they were stretched very thin. When they did finish, the floor, minus a few flaws, was very nice. I have tried to get them out to fix the flaws, but they have yet to do so. We were going to go through them again for this recent water damage, since they did a decent job (and as a way to get them out to fix the flaws from the original wood floor installation), as well as their professionalism. We contacted them and they came out that day to inspect the damage. This was a few weeks ago, and we have still not received a call or an estimate to restore the small area around our dishwasher. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find contractors who will respond in a timely manner, do the job right, and charge a reasonable amount. We are currently going through another company and hope that they will be able to at least show up to do the job. Fingers crossed.

They were friendly and helpful. They accommodated my schedule, which was a big relief in dealing with the necessary repairs.

The whole experience was positive. The workers were very experienced and wanted to do the job correctly. They answered all my questions completely and professionally. I will definately use them again.

They were wonderful. It was paid by the insurance and it was a pretty big job. I liked everything except for the painter that they hired. They didn't do the work properly as the paint started peeling; but they did come back and fixed it. Initially, they should have used a better painter. They took six months to complete the job. I didn't compare their prices, but they were a little higher.

They removed the turf from our roof and we had water damage. They seemed overwhelmed by the amount of work that they have. Their administrative staff is excellent and very friendly, but their project managers are difficult to work with. They were supposed to leave some leftover singles in case any shingles blew off after repair, but they took them. They did leave us with the extra breaks from the chimney job, which was nice, but they took all of the roofing tiles.

My house was broken into by means of the smashing of a plate glass door. The thieves ransacked the whole house and copper piping was extensively ripped out in the basement and water was spewing into the basement from the end of one of the severed pipes when I returned home. By the time I got home the water was 2-3 inches deep. Allstate insurance put me in touch with Mellon Certified Restoration as one of their recommended emergency remediation agents in my vicinity. The Mellon crew arrived not long after I called. One of the crew secured the door while the others removed and, (with my ok) disposed of sodden stuff from the basement, and arranged salvageable items neatly around the periphery. Through the use of wet/vac equipment, dehumidifiers and industrial strength fans left running for 3 days they were able to substantially dry out the basement. I was in touch with them while their equipment was left running in the basement and they came back regularly to check on it and take readings. My overall experience was great. They came promptly; and immediately and effectively addressed the problems There were 3 young men who were each pleasant and quite agreeable. I can't give a price/cost because Mellon's billing apparently was directly with the insurance company.

I thought they took longer than they should've. It took two months longer than they said to complete. They said they were busy because of Hurricane Irene. They redid our bathroom and did a really good job but it seemed to take a really long time. They were certified and did good work and the products they used were very good.

The work performed was a rebuild of a shed roof over a patio damaged by a fallen tree. It was paid for by my insurance company. Mellon is a "preferred" contractor of the insurance company and I selected them assuming the work would be completed in a timely manner. I was wrong. Mellon appears to be a company specializing in damage repair related to water, smoke and other types of emergency damage. As such, their priorities could shift on a daily basis. They were very prompt in coming to my home to prepare an estimate of damages as they also serve a the adjuster for the insurance company. The project manage was very professional and helpful. The crews performing the work were professional and appear to have done quality work. HOWEVER, it took an inordinate amount of time to complete this work, about 4 months, including permit. I would estimate the work was about 2 weeks of effort but because of scheduling, the work drug out for months. Increments of work would be performed and nothing would happen until I made calls complaining.

My downstairs bathroom shower pipes exploded due to freezing from the outside walls not being insulated properly. I called my insurance and they sent out Mellon Restoration. They came took off the back of the house reinsulated it properly fixed the piping , put in a new shower head, cleaned up all their mess, and I have not had a problem since. They are courteous, professional and punctual.

I was not there but I had many conversations with my mother. She was adamant that I say that the trades people were wonderful, the office and management not even close to ok. She felt she had to nag them constantly to keep the repairs going. She figures that it was about a month between each step of the work being completed, and that was with a lot of phone calls. She states that the prevailing excuse for all delays was that they were very busy, and she heard it over and over. My question is; Why did they take the job and promise to be done by July when they were too busy? This makes me very conflicted. This was the first project that I took on from an Angie's List well rated contractor that was a total bust. I explained the circumstances to the people at Mellon. My mother was here in Michigan to have hip surgery and recover. I was trying to do a "covert operation". My goal was to get her house mostly repaired so that when she returned home there would be little for her to do or worry about. The Mellon people assured me they understood my goals and that they could accomplish it. That is not how the project went. I remain very dissapointed. And yes, I know one of the rules of reporting is to not include comments from family, but in this case I believe those comments are pertinent to this review.

The work that was done today was very good. I’m very satisfied with their work. The work done today was great. They do a good job and I chose them because there was no bond. Their price was good. I would use them in the future.

I never received an estimate for service. If I have a problem in the future, I would contact them again to request an inspection and an estimate.

Initially, they were reluctant to come out to do a free estimate because they said they didn't do a free estimate. Then they spoke to their supervisor, and he agreed to come out to do an estimate. It took him a couple of days to get us an estimate. The estimate was very thorough; but it was high compared to what we have received from other people. They were punctual and professional.

They are very professional company. They were prompt and had the information they should've had during the quoting process.

It was covered by insurance and they are not quite finished yet. I think they did a really good job so far. The only thing that hasn't been great is that this was an emergency to start going and it took them several weeks to really start working on that room. That is my only complaint. The people were nice, they did exactly what they said they would do, but they didn't quite understand the emergency time line and they didn't really communicate with us that they wanted to help but it would take 3 weeks. They were responsive once they started, they did a good job, but that was the one little thing.

I had flood damage and they took care of everything. My insurance company paid $24,000 on the job. I really like this company. I will use them again in the future.

My insurance company paid the bill, I have no idea if it was reasonable or not. However these guys showed up when they said they would, work was completed in an appropriate time frame, they worked with another contractor as I decided to change the fireplace over to gas on my own. Extremely professional, and quality work done!
