They take their time and have a real passion for quality woodworking. They came in and gave us an estimate and I can't remember exactly, but it took about three weeks to complete and install. The quality was/is superior.
Description of Work: At the time of my service, there were two carpenters working at the shop, they were co-owners. I recently found out that one of the owners had passed away. I had called them for another consult for some woodworking we wanted done. According to the owner I spoke to, his co-owner's passing away has slowed his worked down considerably. They built and installed a custom bench/shoe cubes and coat rack for a large area between my laundry room and kitchen. They stained it perfectly to match my kitchen cabinets. They did an excellent job. The bench and rack still look like new even through the wear and tear of seven years and three children. I would recommend them/him absolutely.

They did an excellent job. It has been about10 years since it was built and it still has the beautiful finish and strength that it had when they first built it. Just a note, I just called them last week to have some more woodwork done, Bruce informed me that his business partner and fellow woodworker had pasted away. He told me that it is a one man operation now and that I would have to wait a couple of months for my project. I have no problem in waiting, the skill and pride that goes into his woodworking is worth the wait.
Description of Work: They built and installed a wooden 15 shoe bench with a wood and brass hook coat rack.

It was wonderful to just be able to count on Bruce to think of everything, to ask our opinion at appropriate times, but otherwise to do everything in a methodical, well-organized, accurately executed, way. I cannot think of anything that he did wrong or any potential problem that he failed to alert us about. Bruce had previously done 3 or 4 bathrooms and one kitchen for friends and relatives, all of which look great, so we felt confident in employing him to work in our house. Bruce let us know at the start when he would be available and when he had other commitments. He generally arrived at 9 am. and worked until the task of the day was completed, usually departing by 2 or 3. There were a few minor delays due to scheduling the separate electrical work, a poorly made cabinet that had to be sent back, a missing part in the sink order, slow action on my part in purchasing the faucets, but Bruce proceeded with the job very systematically and kept us updated on the schedule. Although I was home much of the time, I felt very comfortable in providing Bruce with a key so that he could work independently. Along with not liking to do wall painting, Bruce doesn't like to waste his time preparing itemized estimates for jobs. He gave us a ballpark figure of $5000-6000. We added on some extras, but his final bill met the $6000 upper estimate. He told us that he works as economically as possible while still performing very high quality work. We were very satisfied that this is exactly what he did for us. In addition to the $6000 that we paid to Bruce, we had about 2-1/2 days of time from a licensed electrician, whose biggest job was putting in two new dedicated circuits, one each required for a floor embedded heating mat in our two upstairs bathrooms. (The electrician also installed various outlets, the heating mat, heating mat thermostat, dimmer switch, new exhaust fan, etc. and paid for the two electrical underwriter inspections). We spent about $3600 at Lowes on the cabinets, sink, tub, and toilet. I probably spent another $1000+ on Moen brushed nickel faucets, tub spout, shower items, towel bars, other accessories, etc. and the light--including some rather expensive hidden valves (Moentrol). We are looking forward to having Bruce do our second upstairs bathroom and probably our kitchen and assorted other tasks around the house--after we review our finances. I would highly recommend him for quality of work, careful planning and execution, communication, reliability, honesty, and value for the price--as well as being a most agreeable person to have working around the house.
Description of Work: Bruce completely remodeled our guest bathroom although locations of fixtures were not changed. The cost above includes all labor (including a plumber) other than the electrician. It includes most materials (dry wall, wood, plywood, Wonderboard, moldings, ordinary plumbing parts, floor tiles, mortars, adhesives, etc.) but not the major ornamental furnishings: toilet, tub, cabinets, sink countertop, Swanstone tub surround, faucets and major shower & sink faucet valves, light fixture, etc. Bruce and his helper removed all the old stuff, tore up the old floor, laid down new plywood (there was some rot around the toilet base) and Wonderboard as needed. He recycled our old tub and toilet at The Re-Store. Bruce performed the non-electrical part of installing a floor heating mat embedded in mortar, with new large ceramic tiles and epoxy (stain resistant) grout. (This required careful work to avoid damaging the electrical mat.) He removed dry wall as necessary, installed the Swanstone tub surround panels and moldings, plus a recessed toiletries shelf (changed the wall studs). He installed the cabinets. He and his plumber replaced emergency valves with quarter-turn ball valves, used stainless tubing, installed fancy Moentrol shower valve, drains, sliding bar portable shower, grab bars (firmly affixed to studs), and curved shower rod (included in the materials he provided) as well as sink faucets and toilet. Bruce does not like to paint, since homeowners change their minds too often, so he asked us to apply primer and paint. He painted and installed floor and crown moldings, incorporating a new air duct cover. He hung the towel bars and holder, knobs, etc. Bruce reinforced the hollow core door so that it would hold a second towel bar, and remounted it with new hinges. Inbetween the main work when he had "idle" moments, he wandered about the house fixing other small items--a better-sealing attic cover, tightened stair handrails, tightened door hinges, replaced a missing piece of wood in a doorway, hung up a downspout, etc. There are probably other things that he did in the bathroom and elsewhere that I am forgetting as I write this report. He is a very neat worker and always left his work areas cleaned up.
