Donnelly's Plumbing Heating and Cooling

I have been using them for about 10 years. They do good work, but they are expensive. There service is fine, its perfectly good and reputable. I have no complaints.

I had originally received a service from Donnelly's on 7/11 that I wasn't satisfied with. To their credit, they immediately called me and scheduled a follow-up service call to address the issues I had with the first service. As with the prior service, the scheduling process at Donnelly's is very professional and easy. They call when the technician is on the way to your house and arrived as scheduled both times. My technician was very professional and knowledgeable. He took the time to diagnose any problems that I might have with the system. Additionally, he took the extra step of helping me understand what he was doing. Rob did an excellent job to ensure that the system was working properly. Overall, I would absolutely use this service again. I was surprised by the phone call from Donnelly's offering to ensure I was satisfied and I am very pleased with the service that I received.

I was greeted Saturday morning with an untimely leak under the kitchen sink. Called Donnelly's and gave all the information to the very pleasant & professional young lady who answered the phone. A short time later she called me back to let me know that a technician was on the way and within 30 minutes or so, Rob B. arrived to check out the problem. Turned out the trap pipe and connectors were corroded to the point they were almost disintegrating (the pipe was literally as brittle as an egg shell). Rob quickly replaced the pipe and tested everything to make sure it was OK. Total time from initial call to completion of service --- 2 hours! Outstanding! Oh, and Rob also pointed out that there was a $49 coupon on a magnet attached to the phone book (Yellow Pages). Nice. :-)

Mike Eachus is a consummate professional. Consistently awesome quality of work and very fair pricing. If you want a job done right the first time, Mike is the man you want. Donnelly's scheduling, flexibility and administrative support is awesome too.

Michael Eachus is our Go-To professional for our plumbing and heating/cooling system care. We sincerely value his advice and recommendations. Always professional, Michael carefully performs systems maintenance that keeps everything running well through every season. He's the best!

The plumbing technician led me to believe that he had negotiated a good, discounted price for the removal of my leaking hot water heater and the installation of the a one; however, he never mentioned the 3-day right to cancel the sale; he did not mention its presence in the body of the work order, he did not call attention to its presence on the reverse side of that document, nor did he provide or mention the separate obligatory statement required by law. He assured me that the "negotiated" cost of $1626.00 was a good deal given the $2100+ cost listed in his manual for the removal of the old heater and installation of a new one. In fact he called (or at least said he was calling) his office, in my presence, to have the reduced cost approved by his manage. HE INDICATED THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD BE REDUCED TO 6 YEARS--INSTEAD OF THE USUAL 10-YR. WARRANTY--IN ORDER TO OFFEST THE REDUCED COST BENEFIT. Before leaving, the tech requested that I complete a referral card for him. He emphasized that each month his company awards a $100.00 prize to the customer who writes the best reference :-). After he left, I contacted other AngiesList plumbing and heating professionals and, as expected, received quotes at a 50%+ lower cost, with a 10-year warranty and so I made the necessary arrangements. I did receive a prompt return call from the Donnelly's field manager, who arranged for the immediate removal of their equipment from my home and provided a full refund. The Donnelly's technician sent for the removal seemed polite and professional. However, he also removed "the chimney" which I later learned was actually my property. I paid a nominal fee for a new one. I further noticed that the office phone number listed elsewhere is different than the number listed on AngiesList. I noted a substantially different response when calling the number listed here.

Found a leak in the upstairs bathroom early on a Monday morning. Went to Angie's list and found Donnelly who was close by. The answering service was very professional and told us when to expect a call. We got the call right on time. We were told someone would be there by 8:30, and they were. The tech was outstanding. He told us what was wrong, what our options were and how he would fix it. He did a perfect job and left the worksite better than he found it and explained what he had done. An all around great experience for what could have been a real problem. I would highly recommend them!

The service I received from Mike E. was exceptional. My A/C went down on 9/9 and Mike was at my home the next day. Found the problem and needed to return for the repair. I thought I would go a few days in the heatwave we are having without air. Donnelly's called me the next day (9/10), letting me know Mike will be out on 9/11. I was so happy and appreciative of the quick turnaround. It turned out the unit needed to be replaced under warranty. When I left work to meet him at home to finalize everything, I felt so bad that he worked in 90 degree weather. He rechecked everything inside and out to make sure all was good and advised me of things I needed to do to keep the unit running effiently. It was so nice of him to do this as I have noone else to help me. yeah! finally someone with empathy.... Thank you Mike. by the way, he fixed my lawn mower too! Andrea

I needed a new water softener as the one I had was about 10 years old and was starting to die. The company that installed it was no longer in business. I called 2 different companies (both with good ratings on Angie's List). Donnelly's quote was higher but their warranty was better. And the tech from Donnelly's pointed out some stuff that the previous home owner had done that was not right and would soon cause serious issues (the other company didn't notice it). The tech who came out & his "helper" were very professional and informative. I was also impressed that Donnelly's had the equipment in stock while the other company would have to order it and we would be waiting 2-3 weeks. I had used Donnelly in the past and was always pleased. I will always recommend them.

Mike Eachus is a great guy!! He is always prompt and is happy ... we joke with each other and he gets the job done right and also explains to me how to check things myself, when he's not here. He had tagged my things in the basement and put labels everywhere so I know what to do if there is an emergency. He's good.....can be trusted in my house...won't touch anything that isn't part of his job.

We returned home from vacation to find our air conditioner was not cooling. We assumed rightly that the problem had something to do with Tropical Storm Andrea, and we were right... there was a lot of water pooled inside the AC unit. Michael Eachus is always our "go-to" guy for all of Donnelly's services. He arrived promptly, found the problem and replaced the condenser in no time. Our house is once again cool!

We had a frozen pipe burst and water everywhere! The girl who answered the phone was not only wonderful for putting up with me freaking out, but told me to shut off the water and calmly talked to me while I did that. They called me back in 5 minutes to tell me a technician was on the way. When Mike E. showed up, he was not only clean and professional looking. Mike explained what happened and showed us how to prevent it from happening again. He gave us different options on how to fix it and I never felt pressured or ripped off in any way. Mike was kind and patient and I would recommend him to everyone!

Mike came in after I almost gave up. Had two plumbers before him that couldn't even find the problem. Mike found it fast and fixed it even faster. Saved my day Thank you and I will definitely use his services again. M.Reznik

Tom G. was my technician. He arrived exactly when expected, put protective covers on his feet and proceeded to the basement to assess the situation. He explained the problems and detailed the costs for my approval. Tom made the necessary repairs quickly and with no fuss whatsoever. I had workman from another company there for an unrelated, non-plumbing reason at the same time (who had arrived later that he was expected, actually) and Tom was most patient as I managed that service call as well. I have a Gold Star Service membership from Donnelly's and have used their services for about 6 years. There are times when I have thought that the price might be a little high, but I have never had to call them back for a service that failed. I have always felt confident in their work. I would enthusiastically use Donnelly's again.

The representative from Donnelly was very professional and courteous. He first looked at the sink in question and confirmed the work to be done. He then provided me with options on materials which included the cost (parts and labor). The work was done quickly and looks top-grade. There have been no issues since the installation. I would certainly hire them again for any plumbing work at my house.

I did call and got the most recent telephone number and used him for the service. I checked around and one person was $50 cheaper, but I had used Donnelly's before and he's a very honest person. I just decided to go with him again because I had used him before. His professionalism, responsiveness and follow up are excellent.

We've used Donnelly's for all of our plumbing, water softener and heating/AC problems for about 3 years now following a water heater emergency to which they responded immediately. We trust their professionals, especially Michael Eachus who generally services our home. Last August, he recommended we change our Home-Depot-type battery backup sump pump with a larger, more professional model, and we followed his advice. During Hurricane Irene in late August, we lost our electrical power. All of our immediate neighbors had between 3 and 10 inches of water in their basements -- but ours was dry due to the new battery-backup system. We were extremely grateful for his advice and have recommended Donnelly's to everyone!

No work done-Price quoted is VERY EXCESSIVE and FOR WORK NOT NEEDED. Interesting that the boss sends a "reply". But nothing he says is really an answer to my problem with this co. They are VERY high priced, or try to be. And tried to sell me a job which was clearly not needed. Enough said!

I had a leak in my toilet and I needed someone immediately. I called them and they were there that afternoon. They are extremely reliable. They have good plumbers. They come when they are called. They are good on the telephone. They are expensive. I had two plumbers come to my house; one was recent and another one several months ago. They were polite and they knew what they were doing. They were clean. They took care of their any mess they made; they cleaned up. They explained everything to me. In one case they came back the second time because there was still a problem. There was no charge for the second visit. You pay more than you should have to pay. But on the other hand you can count on them.

Donnelly was prompt in responding to our call for service, and did quality work to install the pump. In regards to cost we have given Donnelly a bad rating because in researching the cost to do the repair work we found that well pump replacement is usually at a cost of $1,500 to $2,000. We believe we were overcharged in part because this was an emergency. At the time the well pump was replaced the representative recommended that we replace the water tank at an additional cost of $1,400. We decided against doing this with Donnelly because of the high cost. Subsequently we had a different HVAC contractor provide an estimate to replace the water tank. We recently installed a larger capacity tank, replaced the old copper pipe, and had the acid neutralizer serviced at a total of $1,100. Cheaper than Donnelly quoted and we got more done and increased the capacity of the tank. We had used Donnelly for approximately 10 years in our previous house to service the water system including the addition of a water heater, including a Kinetico acid neutralizer and water softener which Donnelly recommended we install, and the heating system including the addition of an ultra-violet unit on the heater which Donnelly also recommended. We feel we gave a great deal of business to Donnelly. In retrospect we feel that Donnelly took advantage of us in regards to cost. One observation is that Donnelly representatives must be paid on a commission basis to sell customers on additional services and equipment. Looking back now on our past experience with Donnelly we believe that Donnelly took advantage of our lack of technical knowledger of the systems in our house to sell us equipment and services at a much higher cost and possibly selling us on equipment that we did not need. In summary I believe Donnelly is a high quality professional HVAC vender but I will not use Donnelly again because I believe the quality is at a significant cost to the consumer.

Had to have a faucet installed. He wasn't there more then 10 minutes and wanted to sell me a"Gold Star Service Program contract. I could of installed the faucet. The price was outrageous. He tried to sell me the service contract for 20 minutes it took him all of 20 minutes to install. Most of the time to open the box and read the instructions, I sent them back there $49 magnet coupon.I received letter from the service manager and he told me that the cost of the faucet installation would of been $556.00( he was gracious to deduct $125.00 since I supplied the faucet). He continued and thanked me for expressing my opinion on the service call. He also said, " I reviewed your invoice and the pricing is correct. I learned a long time ago that it is better to offer a more expensive, quality service and explain our prices every once in a while rather than skimp on service and have to live with a reputation for poor quality forever." I'm glad it was only a faucet i got hosed on. I have returned there $49 magnet coupon. It's the most expensive faucet I ever had installed. He will never have to explain his pricing again...........at least to me.

The owner of Donnelly's contacted me after my posting at Angie's List. He was very gracious and seemed to be very concerned about making me happy. I am very impressed that he even called, and am even more impressed how he didn't get off the phone until I was happy. He explained how their prices are fixed per the subject being repaired. If you want a breakdown of what is being fixed you need to tell them on the phone before they come out. Knowing this will make it easier to understand what is being done and what the costs are. Thank you Mr. Donnelly for taking the time to call me and make things right!

The Sunday air conditioning service went well. We called early in the morning and the person we talked to was quite clear that this would be considered emergency service and we were looking at a $100 bill before any service was ever done. Since we needed air conditioning we agreed. The technician arrived within the allocated time window and quickly determined it was a blown fuse in the unit. He replaced the fuse, checked out other areas of the unit and left. He was in our house for about 20 minutes total. I have always found this company up front with their pricing, totally professional, and always prompt. The only issue I have is price. They appear to only carry top of the line products for which you will pay. That is fine when you are price shopping (like we did for a water softener) but when you have an issue like a water heater not working it can put you in a tough situation of paying more than you are comfortable or bringing in another service provider.

First, I will say that these guys were responsive and get to my job quickly, which I appreciate. I was time constrained to get the projects done and so they got there quickly. They servicedmy AC unit as I asked and then as service technicians are inclined to do they found three other things to "repair", so I had them do that because I really know next to nothing about HVAC so I couldn't say one way or another if/what was needed. Where these guys lost me was on the cost of the work they did for me. I have to admit to some buyers remorse after everything was completed. I wish I had had another estimate before the work got done. So, I give them decent marks for their punctuality and getting the work done, but I wonder if I couldn't have gotten the same work done for a fairer price. If I had not been under a time constriant, I would have gotten more than one opinion.

They are wonderful people. They even accept the Competitor’s Coupons. They are very careful and do not leave anything. They are professional and responsive.
