I went to them for years specifically for routine maintenance of my mower & trimmer the last time I was there they told me that suddenly the trimmer needed a new carburetor --- I went there routinely to avoid this situation --- expensive and arrogant

Sears, Home Depot, and Lowes will have no problem selling you a lawn mower, but good luck getting even the simplest repair done. I had a flat rear tire on a Craftsman Lawn tractor. I took the wheel off, dropped it off at Lawn Barn, it was fixed the next day. Piece of cake.
Description of Work: Fixed a flat tire on riding mower.

Nick is a very honorable and sincere person to deal with. When he repairs an item, he carefully explains what absolutely needs to be done and also recommends what should be down to prevent an unexpected breakdown. When I purchased the new equipment, he took the time to thoroughly explain how to operate the equipment as well as recommending minor maintenance that I could perform to keep the equipment running properly and trouble free. One item that he continually stressed was that we need to be careful of the gasoline as it contains additives that can potentially harm the engine. To that end, he gave me a complimentary can of additive to counteract the ethanol and told md that I could purchase additional at any Home Depot or Lowes. I STRONGLY recommend the Lawn Barn for your lawn, snow and generating equipment.
Description of Work: I have been using The Lawn Barn to repair and purchase new equipment for about 5 years. Each and every time, Nick the owner, treated me with respect and charged very fair prices. This past winter, I purchased both a new snow blower and a new electrical generator. The prices couldn't be beat and Nick even offered to come to my home at no charge and check the equipment out after the winter.

I had a Sears Snow-blower repaired back in 2009 at lawn barn and although the customer service wasn't horrible it wasn't good either. This last time, the service was horrible from the get go. The woman behind the counter behaved in a manner that gave me the impression that they did not need my business. She kept on questioning me as to whether I "really" wanted to have my John Deere tractor repaired by them because they weren't a dealer and the parts may take a "really, really" long time to get if it needed parts. I was very much under the impressions that they wanted me to go elsewhere. On three different occasions she told me that there would be a $60 dollar charge to p/u and drop-off the tractor from my home. This even though the first time, I said I have no problem with the price for that.We then had a back and forth over where I would leave the tractor for p/u and it seemed that it was a very big deal that I said I would put the tractor out front and leave the key in an envelope in the mailbox which was 10' from the tractor location. She literally argued with me until I said " I don't want to leave the key in the ignition while I was not home!" I said " Who is picking it up and just how hard is it to remember to get the key in the mailbox?" When I got home what do you know, they picked up the tractor and did NOT p/u the key!" I should have known right then that this was not going to play out well. Anyway, I got a call from Nick who turned out to be the owner the next day and he said it needed a new carb and the deck was not in good shape and some of the parts needed to be replaced. He said it was still safe but very worn. The carb did need to be replaced and he said it would cost between $150 and $175 plus labor. He also said that gas today has additives that eat away at the carb parts so a fuel shut off valve is often installed so you can stop the gas from ruining the carb. He said this happens to motorcycles, lawn equipment, boat engines etc. I said oh okay. I never gave him permission to install a valve. I told him to only plan on replacing the carb since it was a used tractor and may not be worth putting th money necessary into it. I also asked him for an exact price for all the parts and labor (carb replacement, diagnostic work and p/u and delivery). He said he would call me back later in the day with the exact price after he called the John Deere parts dealer..Well he never did. The next day I got a call that it was done and ready to be dropped off. I asked the guy on the phone why I did not get a call with the total price. He told me he would have Nick call me. Well from the moment Nick got on the phone he argued with me and basically called me a liar. He told me he replaced the carb, replaced the oil, replaced the filters and installed a fuel shutoff valve. He said he had notes that I approved of all of this work. I ASSUREDLY DID NOT. He then threatened me and started calling me a "tough-guy" and "bully" because I was telling him that I did not give him permission to do the work. Then, even after he said he would drop the tractor off previouisly, decided to hold the tractor hostage and told me that until I came in and paid him, I would not recieve my tractor! In the end, we coordinated a time when the tractor could be dropped off at my home and I had my daughter give him a check. Horrible customer service and staff. I would recommend that you go elsewhere to get lawn equipment repairs, new equipment ot landscaping materials as this place obviously doesn't need the business! AVOID NICK AND LAWN BARN!
Description of Work: I had them diagnose a fuel issue with my rider mower. My John Deere lawn tractor was not starting due too much gas in the carbeurator. I also had them do a "once-over" since I bought the tractor used. i.e. check the bearing, belts etc. As part of the service they picked up and dropped off the tractor at my home.
