We were told we needed a new damper for $500 and new sealant at cap for $400 after our cleaning. Advised us pictures would be sent and never were. Searched around and found Jamison home services rated number one on Angie's List. Nice professional man states damper off track and literally took him 10 seconds to fix. Took pictures off chimney and showed me amount of soot inside and that chimney could not have been cleaned and also sealant was caulk and would take a few minutes to do. Also noted that stainless steel pipe at top of chimney is rusted. DO NOT USE THESE CROOKS!!!!! Cost me another $150 for Jamison and they told me inside of chimney has mortar loss and would fail inspection.
Description of Work: supposedly a cleaning and inspection.

They did a marvelous job, and they have what we consider a very good product. In the 25 years that we have had the wood stove, they were the only ones that said that our wood stove looked good and that the service on it could wait a year, whereas everyone else just went in and did the job. Of course, there was a minimum charge involved for having him come over, and so he asked if we had a furnace chimney that he could look at. He found out that we didn?t do what we were supposed to do and that it needed repair badly. In fact, he called it an emergency and he fixed it in a really good time. He actually came in on a Wednesday and said that he would be back on the Friday. He was here from 9 until about 1 in the afternoon. He cleaned up after himself. He was just a marvelous person. He was very caring about the work he did, and caring about us as well. We also found out that the guarantee wasn?t inexpensive. We got a discount because we are seniors. It cost us $2700, and that included yearly service for free, and it was transferable to new owners. I have never compared prices but considering the work that he had to do and the discount that he gave, I believe that it was a fair price. He also asked us if we had a carbon monoxide detector. He was concerned that maybe we were not watching that, and that the vapors could have expanded into the house because of the cracks in the old tile and that it could be extremely dangerous. He also told us that we would see a marked difference in the way our furnace performed. He was very informative.
Description of Work: We used A Step in Time to fix the furnace chimney. We have a wood stove which was the original reason we called them in. They checked that out too. They removed all of the old tile and the creosote that it had built up.
