It was very good and he was a very nice man. He's very professional and we didn't have to order a belt because it was in his truck so it's very time-saving and efficient. He was very knowledgeable.

refrigerator unfixable primarily due to error by technician. We had to spend $750 unexpectedly to buy a new refrigerator. Details noted above
Description of Work: 9 year old GE Profile refrigerator failed on January 24, 2013 but freezer kept working. Technicians came out 6 times over 7 weeks and refrigerator still didn't work. Repair parts were NEVER in stock on technicians trucks so they had to be ordered (3-5 day lead time). Follow-up visits by repair technicians could not be scheduled until part arrived at my home (2-5 more days for each part). 3 of the repair parts either didn't work or part failed to work within 1 week. On visit 5 technician snipped wire too close to housing so it could not be repaired and visit 6 technician declared refrigerator unfixable. Fortunately refrigerator was under Sears warranty (cost was $249) so we did not have to pay for multiple tech visits and part replacements. We received maximum warranty credit toward purchase of new refrigerator so our out-of-pocket cost for new refrigerator was $750. Sears customer service people on the phone are excellent and seem to do their best to help customers. But their street-level policies and procedures led to the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Can you imagine living without a refrigerator for 8 weeks. It is unimaginable and unacceptable. Sears owns a separate appliance repair company that does their repairs. I understand this repair company also does repairs for Home Depot, HH Gregg and other large appliance retailers. So my advice would be to buy the warranty on large appliances, or consider buying your appliances from a local appliance company with their own in-house repair department.

They used to be pretty good with the last couple of services where I bought some other appliances but if I go to buy more, I'm probably going to go somewhere else. I have been disappointed because twice they delivered the wrong thing. They did get me the right thing eventually, once for the dishwasher and once for the refrigerator. I am not totally happy with the dishwasher or the washer. They're working but they just don't seem good as they used to be.
Description of Work: I used Sears in Lancaster for appliances. We got a refrigerator eight to ten years ago.

The service was excellent and the repair person was professional and on time. The repair experience was great. Just a warning, however. The Sears team called to sell me a service plan prior to the visit. They attempted to intimidate me with potentially high costs for the repairs. I bought the protection plan. I didn't need it. Sears will refund the difference in the cost if I remember to call and cancel the plan. But that whole process was jarring and unwanted.
Description of Work: The Sears repair person came to our home and replaced the water pump in our washing machine.

I scheduled service for agitation failure on my 14 year old Frigidaire washing machine. I received a confirmation phone call a day or 2 before the appointment. The technician called on his way and arrived on time. He diagnosed the problem in the clutch box. It would not go into neutral to allow the basket to turn the other direction. He provided me a written estimate for the repair including parts and labor. He also provided a Sears coupon good toward the purchase of a new machine. I appreciated his knowledge, diagnostic speed, no pressure just the facts approach. I confirmed the cost of parts with a friend in the residential property maintenance field. And researched new and used washers. Turns out a new basic machine from Sears was less expensive than the repairs or a re-furbished machine. And with the coupon - a no brainer.
Description of Work: I requested service for agitation failure on my 14 year old Frigidaire washing machine. The technician tested the agitation cycle, took the machine apart, diagnosed the problem in the clutch and put the machine back together.

They were very professional. Their salesman was extraordinarily knowledgeable about the product. We did shop around in about 5 other places and we decided to go with Sears. They did a comparison with top 4 competitors and gave me the cheaper price. So I saved two hundred dollars which allowed me to buy the extended warranty on the dishwasher. The delivery guys were great. They were very quick, efficient and came on time. They got in and out quickly and answered all my questions.
Description of Work: Sears delivered a new dishwasher and did the installation and haul away of the old one.

We purchased a new lawn tractor from Sears and paid an extra $65 for "premium" (or some such word) delivery because the salesperson said that would include installation of a mulching kit (which also cost extra). The first problem was that we received a phone call that we had to make a special trip back to the store to pick up the mulching kit, it would not be delivered with the tractor. A delivery confirmation call reiterated that the mulching kit was to be installed at time of delivery and told me we needed to have the kit at the house because it would not come with the delivery. I replied that we had it ready for installation. When the mower arrived, the delivery people said they do not install accessories. They said we would have to call the store when it opened (it was before store hours so I couldn't call anyone at that time) and ask to have a technician come to our house OR have the mower picked up, taken to the warehouse and re-delivered. Later, someone called to say that the delivery was on the way. I said they had already arrived and left, but there was a problem. Then the person said she knew there was a problem and they knew I would be upset, as the delivery instructions specifically said they were to install the mulching kit and they were not planning to do so. She said they would schedule a technician to come out the next day. I was then transferred to a service person I could barely hear and for whom English was obviously a second language. He would not/could not schedule someone for the next day, instead telling me the person would come on Saturday in a window of 4 hours. I was furious to have to block off half a weekend day for this.
