Ranck Plumbing, Heating, A/C & Excavation

The work was satisfactorily performed in a timely manner. The price was outrageous. I paid $378 to replace a toilet fill valve and flapper. My regular handyman was unavailable so I thought I would try Ranck Plumbing. I feel I was treated unfairly to be charged twice the cost many plumbers would bill. I would like future potential customers to be forewarned.

Job was done with the highest competence.

They are courteous. They are professional and they are timely. I'll be calling them again this month for my furnace contract. Pricing is good. They are here within a half hour of the hour range they give.

I had their maintenance program for $25 a year, so they came every year to manage my HVAC system. They said if my heat went out again, they would bring heaters to my home. When the air conditioner went out, they replaced the whole unit. I think they are very reliable and courteous. They usually sent out the same guy, so you have a familiar contact. My usual guy had a family emergency, but the man who replaced him was very friendly and put me at ease.

It was a bear of a time trying to get someone available to come that day. I put my name on a waiting list with Ranck. Lucky for me they had a job go quicker than planned, so he was able to come relatively quickly. He got the furnace fixed, but I was unhappy with the pricing. He gave me a verbal estimate and the final cost was $200 above that. I should have questioned it and/or asked for a written estimate, but I was busy and distracted so I just paid it. A part needed to be ordered and he said I would get a call the next week about installing it. I had to call *them* after two weeks. But he did come the next day and got it installed without a problem. However, again the bill was $30 higher than the estimate (I had a written one from the first visit). I let him know that it was higher and he brought the bill down to the estimate immediately. While I'm glad they honored the estimate, I don't like people playing games and trying to get more money out of customers. I'm told this is standard practice in the industry, so I don't know if we'll find any business who will be better.

They are very good people. They do a good job and all the service men were efficient.

We contacted Ranck in the morning of 9/4. When we called she was told that they were experiencing higher than usual call volumes today and could not guarantee that someone would able to come to our home or give us an approximate time. Fortunately, she was contact 3 hours later by one of their team members that they would be there shortly. The work was performed quickly, professionally and work seems to be of high quality. Overall, we were satisfied with Ranck Plumbing.

It went well! The technician was really great! I felt the price was a little high, but everything was fantastic.

The price was way out of line for a standard toilet replacement. The elderly neighbor will NEVER call upon Ranck again.

We needed a new electric water heater rather quickly. I called Ranck on a Thursday and their representative, Ryan, was very helpful. He was able to provide me with prices over the phone. I had additional questions so we spoke again Friday. Over the weekend, my husband and I decided we wanted to go with them, so I called Ryan on Sunday and left a message requesting installation on Monday if possible. They were able to come out Monday -- time frame given was between 12:00 and 3:00, and the plumber was at my house by noon. Very punctual. By 2:30 we had a new water heater. The final bill was in accordance with what Ryan quoted me over the phone -- no surprises. Ryan was very helpful regarding my questions about whether or not we needed an expansion tank and in getting a permit for the water heater (which is required in our area). My husband was very impressed with the installation job and workmanship. We'd definitely use them again!

It was good. They provided good service and I was happy with their work. I have used them many times in the past. I would recommend them to anyone.

Excellent. Always calls ahead. Punctual and explains all services performed. We have used them several times for emergency plumbing repairs as well. Both times they arrived within an hour and corrected the problems quickly for a fair price. We have also had them replace our old heat pump and rework our internal ducting. We have been very satisfied with all work done.

I was glad when they finished because I will never see them or call them again.

I was not pleased with the work done by Robert Ranck Inc. I had a small plumbing job, they fixed my kitchen sink the drain was leaking and it was less than a year it started leaking again. I don't have a disposal, it is a plain drain, so I was pretty upset. I called and said is your work guaranteed, this was supposed to be fixed and is this covered and I was told well it is up to the technician to decide. So i was really ticked off because I had given them second, third, fourth chance and they were not reconciliatory about their own work, their whole saying is do it right the first time. I spent so much money, I had a new water heater, a new heater, they had their fellow come out and recommend the heater for my house and my house has not stayed warm, it broke down over and over again. I spent atleast between $700 to $900 repairs and it still was not working, it got to the point where you don't know if you are going to have heat or not and it was a brand new heater. I have signed a contract with a local gas company, UGI, and next time it broke down the guy came out, he said oh well this particular heater it is notorious for this part going down, he fixed it and it has been fine since. Then their expert came out and told me I have six zones in my house and it was the wrong heater, it kept flipping on and flipping off too quickly for a multi zone house. So you spend $3000-$4000 for a heater and they recommend the heater, they install the heater and it kept breaking down and I find out it was the wrong heater. I had to take out all my zones rather than buy another heater because this thing is not very old. Then my water heater flipped off and the guy told me well he thinks it overheated and it splashed up off the floor and turned off the pilot. The next time it happened I went down there to relay the pilot and it blew up in my face. It turned out that there was a leak in the heater itself and it was dripping down and turning off the pilot. They installed a new water heater which has chugged along fine but they gave me bogus advice on it and it was not a happy thing. My upstairs delta faucet was always leaking so I called him in to fix it and I wanted it to be replaced. They told me they would have to take out the entire sink and they don't have a faucet that would fix it. They replaced other faucets but what they didn't tell me is I could have had this kind of faucet, they did not give me a choice. I paid money to have a new installation and then i found out I could have had had brushed nickle that doesnt show grimy hand prints. But the one upstairs where they told me it couldnt be replaced and they had to take out the whole sink, it was a custom sink, it is a work of art so I never had it fixed. When Bubakers came over and I asked him to go up there and look at it he said you have a kitchen sink up here, all you need is a kitchen faucet and he gave me a choice, I picked the faucet I wanted, he put it in and it hasnt leaked. So I feel like their people were not always trained very well and when I called and complained about the water heater it was not reconciliatory.

They came out to repair our tub and didn't charge the service fee, as they had been out before and didn't find the problem.

This individual came out to do some work for my parents. They wanted an estimate and before they knew it, he was installing a cheap faucet and garbage disposal (said he had everything in his truck). In my opinion, he bullied them and took advantage. The faucet and disposal are cheap units. He gave them no choice. They spent over $900.00. Talk about taking advantage. Would never use again.

As usual, we had an excellent experience with Robert H. Ranck Inc. They performed the needed service in a timely and efficient manner as we've come to expect. Would recommend them for any heating or a/c issues.

They did a thoroughly good job. They were very prompt and clean. They took their shoes off. They did the work very professionally. They were fine. Their prices were fair. It was quite a good experience. I liked them very much.

They do everything that meets the code of the townships they are dealing with. They are good, but moderately priced but the quality outweighs it. It's like everyone else. They're honest, do quality work and do everything they're supposed to do to meet those verifications set by the town.

I contacted the Better Business Bureau (regional office in Harrisburg, PA ) using their online form. They shared my complaint with Ranck's Cust Svc Mgr who wrote back to BBB with their explanation of the plumbing needs they felt we had. I then wrote back to BBB emphasizing the fact that the plumber initially never fixed the problem we called about tho he charged us $1,398. and that he did all the charged-for work without advance discussion or our approval. Then Ranck's rec'd my reply letter. Shortly after, the Cust Svc Mgr called me and wanted to work out something. I wanted to pay for the items we rec'd even tho we may not have had to buy them in the first place and for a service call and for the auguring which really unplugged the potty (and if plumber had done that 1st we may have never needed a sewer pump) - but since it was apparently a new pump it seemed ethical to pay for it. We got $721. back (!!!!) and so we paid $677 based on what he said were their costs. Sad to say, I guess it would be pretty difficult to trust this company again. It was an ethical resolution on our part and broadly speaking only OK when you consider the company's initial unscrupulousness and the considerable stress it caused us. Getting the $721. credit back on the credit card certainly was a relief.

Serviceman was courteous and seemed to know what he was doing, but for some reason used an incorrect part on my unit.

No complaints on service, sales etc...They do all the things right from the standpoint of job execution, showing up on time, communicating well, sticking to job schedule. My only issue, and time will tell, is whether the system actually cuts our electricty and heating costs, as promised during the sales process. We saw a significant increase in electricity usage and costs after new system was installed.
