Mister Sparky Electric

Mister Sparky has bee excellent for me.They actually come annually now. I went through them and I was very impressed.

He was very thorough. There was no cost, so it would be an A! They call and let you know the guy is on his way and they had given a window the day before.

Always extremely professional. They are higher priced but do good work.

They came out right away when we called.

Very pleased with work and totally happy with all the things completed.

There was a charge of $50.00 just to come out. When the tech arrived he immediately told me there would be additional charge of $350.00 for a diagnostic to figure out the problem at which time I had to sign a contract for the 350.00 which I reluctantly did. Within approximately 30+minutes he said there was a problem with the underground wiring and that he wasn't certain where it was like located. After questioning the evaluation he proceeded to exlplain without any hesitation the cost would be an additional $2000.00. I paid him what I owed him and told him that I didn't trust him. I was right. I called a friends recommendation of a private contractor and he repaired the wire for under $400.00 in a few hours the following day. I

They did one quick job for me. He was very good!

The inspection went great but I will say, the quote given for any additional work if needed was a lot higher than other estimates I had received. In fact, I ended up getting additional work done about 6 months later for a quarter of what they would have cost. The price I was charged for the inspection was a deal through Angie's List and that was exceptional, so I will grade that price an A but their quotes were too high for me. Overall however, I was pleased with the experience with Mister Sparky Electric

I purchased the $200 of electrical work for $79 deal from Angie's List thinking, given the last time I had electrical work quoted out, $1100 got me a sub box and 10 outlets on 4 circuits, that 1 outdoor GFI circuit would be nearly covered by the $200. They work off of a scale. The scale for an outdoor 110 gfi outlet was $750.00. The work was done quickly and professionally.

Very Courteous, gave a discount and pricing up front instead of making me guess or ask. He was very knowledgeable and worked in a timely manner.

Serviceman was friendly, prompt, courteous (put booties on his shoes), and experienced. The Sparky Corporate Price List is what buried the experience. After assessing the job, he quoted $300 to install the chandelier, and $100 each to install single pendant lights. I declined on the pendant lights, having been quoted $50 each by Monyer Electric, and would have declined the other except I had already purchased the Big Deal. In addition to the Big Deal I had purchased for $79 for $200 worth of work, I had to pay another $100 to have the chandelier installed. As long as I can get great service at 1/2 the cost by Monyer Electric, I will not use Mister Sparky again.

I was very pleased. The gentleman that came here did a very professional job. I talked to him about some future electrical work I needed done and he priced himself out of sight. It was ridiculous what he quoted for the little stuff I wanted done. I got another estimate from a different electrical company, and it was a quarter of what he quoted. I was very pleased with his service though but I wouldn't use him for anything else. He was way out of sight for what I wanted done. Someone else would have thought that was appropriate but, I felt that was too much money. His service was exceptional. He was there on the dot. He was very professional. I wanted an outside outlet for both my front and back door so that I can stream Christmas lights. I already have electrical outlets inside the house and all he had to do was hook in to them. He wanted to charge me $600 a piece. I wouldn't use them again only because I feel that they are over priced.

The service man was polite and on time. The problem was he tried selling me a warranty type service that was not listed on their website nor could he give me any type of printed material on it. If it is not listed anywhere then it is a scam to me. Why would it be offered on line or in print from their company? To me there is an integrity problem, so no, I will not be using them in the future.

Very professional installation and service. However, the "$75" special was NOT $75. Upon complaint, the owner refunded me some money, which is professional on his part. Bottom line: READ THE FINE PRINT. Would hire again.

They were very expensive. They just replaced 3 fuses and they charged me $195 on top of the $35 for the whole house electrical inspection. They were right on time. He was very professional. I wouldn't use them again because of the price. He was there for less than 35 minutes. He had a tablet and he said he can give me other pricing A, B or C depending on the job that he did. It was very confusing. If they would just come out with a flat rate, and say how much he is going to charge per hour or charge for the part, everything would have been much better. Giving me categories on what he was doing was just a little too confusing for me. They were very professional. I don't fault him for that. The young that was there was a very nice guy. He did a thorough inspection but when it comes down to what we were dealing, it all comes down to price. I've had other electricians come in since then and I have gotten a quote for rewiring, taking all the wiring out and putting all new wiring in both units because it is a 2-unit house, and that would be a 3-day job and I got a price of $2,000. They charged me $195 for less than 35 minutes. Price is obviously a huge factor.

The technician was punctual, fast to get the job done, and very clear about the work that would need to be performed and cost. The coupon from Mr. Sparky was $79 for $200 in electrical work. Mr. Sparky prices everything by the job, not hour. Everything is a flat fee. So, if the work doesn't take too long, Mr. Sparky wins. If the job takes longer than expected, the customer will have likely paid less than they would have if they had used an electrician that charges by the hour. To install the new electrical box for the ceiling light (using one rated for a fan with a spreader bar), the service was categorized as "1-2 switch legs for a fan light." The flat price for Mr. Sparky to do this is $384. I had already paid the $79 for $200 in work, so I still owed another $184, due at the time of service. So, the total out-of-pocket cost was $263 for a $384 quoted job. This seemed reasonable. I probably could have shopped around to find someone to do it for less, but I needed it done in a hurry. I can't complain about the work or the technician at all. Both were great! I'll likely use Mr. Sparky again, knowing I'm paying more, but getting what I want, when I want it, and top quality.

I took advantage of the coupon offer from Angie's List but when the electrician showed up I wasn't home. However, my father was visiting and he let the electrician in. The estimate was to run a single 240v line for an electric dryer from the breaker box (in the garage) to the utility room just inside the garage door. The garage walls are unfinished as is the attic above the garage so access would not involve closed walls except for the utility room for the outlet, the last three or four feet of run. The shortest run would be about 30 to 35 feet of line, one 240v outlet, and one 240v double pole circuit breaker. He said he was going the long way around, adding about another twenty feet or more of line. His estimate at first was $1800.00. When I told him that was rip-off high he lowered it to $1500.00.I told him that was still extremely high and to not perform any work, just leave. I tried to get my money back from Mr. Sparky for the coupon but they said no even though I told them I would never use their services based on the outrageous estimate, I wouldn't even let them change a light switch! Fortunately Angie's List was very accommodating and provided a refund. I later got two more estimates from other electricians on Angie's List, one was for $450 and the other just above $500. Solid proof that the Mr. Sparky estimate was a rip-off. I would NOT recommend this company for any electrical work unless you have money to burn. Always get more than one estimate, it saved me about $1,000.00!!!

I purchased two different coupons from Mr. Sparky. The first one was $79 for $200 worth of electrical work. I needed to have 2 ceiling fans installed. I was quoted a price of $214 to install each fan. I paid the extra $14 (the cost that was over and above the value of the coupon), but only had one fan installed because I thought the price was too high. That same week they had another coupon offering to install a ceiling fan for $75, claiming that this was $120 value. (I did read the small print and knew that this did not include assembling the fan.) When the service man came he said it would be another $60 to assemble the fan. I told him to just install the fixture and I would assemble the fan myself. My point is this: the second coupon claimed the value of the fan installation was $120. If you add on the $60 for the fan assembly, that totals $180. So why was I quoted $214 to install the first ceiling fan? The bottom line here is that these people did a good job: they were prompt, did exactly what I wanted them to do, and completely cleaned up after themselves when they were done. HOWEVER, their pricing is extremely arbitrary: they charged different prices for doing exactly the same job.

He left gaping holes in the ceiling, and he told me it was because the fan before it hadn't been installed right. He said in order to install it right he had to leave the holes there for both fans (in different locations). Yes, I did sign off on it ... but now I've got to hire someone else to patch the holes when he made them. I plan to seek legal action.

Then I showed him the work I completed including a new switch box and running wire. The problem to be solved was to wire the new 3-way switch (replaces the top half of existing double 3-way) and new two-way switch (replaces the bottom half of existing double 3-way). All wiring is in place. I would finish installing the switches back in the boxes and install the face plates. The electrician told me it would take about 20 minutes to an hour. He told me it was a flat fee of an additional $290 and that they would not do the work on an hourly basis. I refused the work and paid for the service call. Will never use them again. I have an electrician scheduled for next Monday that will do the work for $100 including service call.

The service turned out well. There were additional costs to the $49 Big Deal. The final cost was about $900. I would tell a family or friend that if they are having problems with their electricity, they are good.
