Description of Work: Took down and disposed of a 40 ft maple tree and ground the stump..removed all debris. The work that they performed and the time frame that it took them to do it was nothing less than perfect.

Description of Work: He did not want to get involved. He threw his hands at the job. He did not want to give me information. He said it was too far to bother with my small job. He was reluctant to give me a price for the job as he walked away from me.

Description of Work: I've stopped using Davey Tree service so I don't remember the exact date and cost of the service. It was roughly in the $200.00 area to inject the tree with Merit. They also provided injections for fertilizer and pruned my trees. I have no complaints about their pruning. I used Davey Tree for years and recommended them to others on my block. But my last experience was so negative that I can't recommend them any more. I have a cherry birch tree in my back yard that got an infestation of aphids a few years back. Davey tree has been giving it Merit injections for several years. Two years ago I began to notice that some leaves were curling, turning brown and dropping in the Early Spring. I called Davey to ask if they knew what was happening. Nothing was wrong was their answer. The next year more leaves dropped and the year after that it got even worse. I called them every year and every year they sent out the tree expert to diagnose the problem. He always said the tree was fine until I got out a magnifying glass and SHOWED HIM the bugs on the leaves. He still said he couldn't see anything. It was very frustrating. The year before he took cuttings and said he would send them out to be evaluated in a lab. He came back with the answer that nothing was found. It turned out that the "lab" was his office. So I insisted that he send them to a lab. This tree is in a small urban garden and losing it would turn my shady garden in to a summer heat sink. The lab reported back that the most likely cause was a mite infestation in the early spring although no active mites could be seen at the time. Of course, the tree expert waited until long after any living creature was gone before he got his sample. I decided to do some investigating of my own. Naturally when you apply an insecticide every year you kill all the insects that keep the mites in check. But did Davey tell me that? Did they warn me that continued use of the insecticide might result in a mite infestation? I went to McFarland tree service. They immediately explained the problem. The tree is slowly dying from the constant mite infestations. It's losing leaves permanently. I still don't know what I should do to save the tree. McFarland suggests a combination insecticide and miticide. I hate to keep pumping such things into the soil, but I don't want to lose the tree. At least this might save it for a few years. What most disturbed me about Davey's tree person was the total lack of interest or concern in diagnosing the problem and helping me to either find a solution or make a decision about what to do. Every time he came (and he came multiple times), the answer was the same. I don't see anything active or wrong.

Description of Work: We had 7 different areas on our 10 acre property with tree limb damage including a neighbors huge tree that crashed into and crushed our cyclone fence. We called two companies for estimates for our specified 7 jobs. Both came but only Davey's offered an itemized list of each of the 7 jobs and a total that was 2/3rd the total price offered by the non itemizing company. They also specified written guarantees and offered competent advice about which trees were worth more exacting care because of their general good health. We signed the extremely fair contract (my husband is an attorney and he was impressed with the equitable specificity in the "fine print"/ They came as promised; completed the massive amount of work in one day, and sent an invoice by mail.

Description of Work: Last year, a bad storm blew down the top middle of our sycamore tree just at sunrise and it fell on the roof of our bedroom (an addition out the back of our house). It did a lot of damage. I knew we had to get rid of it and called Davey, then located just down the way on Yerkes (now relocated to Church Road). Their rep was at our house by 7am, I asked him to help us, his men were on the job by 8am and the whole mess was cleaned up by noon. Our contractor then came in and was able to start building repairs. I have never seen such quick and caring service.
