Steelway Cellar Doors

After a terrible experience with Egress Systems Inc. not showing up on contracted date I contacted Steelway to see if they could get my egress installed before my basement reno started in a week. Tate came out to see the space early the next morning to accommodate me since I was leaving for vacation that morning. He even gave me his cell phone #. They gave me a fair price and were able to squeeze the job in before construction started. Everything was smooth and easy. They were prompt, provided excellent customer service, and we are very pleased with the job. I highly recommend Steelway for egress window install.

Steelway was recommended by a family friend and I was not disappointed! Every step of the process exceeded my expectations and everything took less than a month, start to finish - Tate coming out to look at the site, discuss options and providing a very fast quote (same day!); Norman and Franco coming very soon after to look at what was needed from a masonry standpoint (which Franco and team did a great job completing quickly); Andrew did a beautiful job installing the new doors in just one day - Steelway is a well-oiled machine! I would HIGHLY recommend Steelway and thank the whole team for all of the hard work and care they showed not only to the job itself, but also myself and my neighbor.

It took them much longer than quoted to receive the door. When it got here the door was crated very badly and had scratches all over it. It also had a few bent mounting flanges. Most importantly, there were 2 panels that were made incorrectly. When I contacted Norm to get the correct panels, I expected that they would get working on the replacement panels right away. I was mistaken. Norm told me that they would get to it when it was convenient for them, in a week or two. I will still have to wait an additional week for shipping. The option of getting the panels corrected by a local fab shop were rejected by Norm at steelway, as it would have cost them about $100. The local fab shop could get the job done by the next day. I am NOT happy at all. I wish I could go back in time and spend my hard earned money with a reputable company.

Install when very well, sales service was turnkey and scheduling was efficient. Highly recommend. The product is pricier than some options, but the concrete product is superior to plastic or galvanized steel options and designed to last indefinately.

After checking the measurements on the quote, I discovered some errors in my measurements and contacted the company. They returned my call in 1 day. After I gave them the changes, they emailed me a new copy of the quote, the price was the same but reflected my changes. I approved the quote and submitted payment method. 3 weeks later the door was delivered to my house. Door was manufactured of 12 gauge steel and coated with oxide primer coating as promised by the company. The measurements I supplied to Steelway were adhered to exactly, it was a perfect fit. Completely professionally manufactured in a very reasonable period of time. The cellar door was shipped from PA to GA via truck and arrived without any damage. I could not have been more pleased with the end product. The fit was good that it took less than 1 hour to install it. I would highly recommend Steelway Cellar Doors. The price was only slightly higher than any of the available standard doors which would not fit. I would give them 10 Stars if that was available.

Crews arrived and finished on time. Product looks great. But a year out from the project, we still get leaking around door into our basement. We are unable to finish our basement due to flooding when it rains more than a few hours. Multiple attempts have been made to reseal door, but still unsuccessful in waterproofing walkout.

It went great! Apologize for the delay in writing this review. Andrew was very thorough and listened to me and answered any questions I had about the process of the installation. I would definitely recommend Andrew and Steelway to anyone needing this type of work done.

Very happy with the entire process. It has been several months so I forget the names, but everyone was responsive and work was scheduled in a timely manner and the work was done about as well as you can do it. Despite being a difficult cellar installation due to an old foundation that required extra work, I thought the price was more than justified and the quality was great!

Salesperson (Tate) was very knowledgeable and guided us through the various options. The door is high quality and was installed about 5 weeks later. The installer, Andrew, was energetic, personable, meticulous, skilled and knowledgeable. Our house is very old with many inherent challenges which make an otherwise simple job, difficult. Andrew made it work! Access to the basement is secuure and water tight thanks to him. We highly recommend Steelway!

They responded quickly, came out and gave me an estimate. They returned and installed the cellar door. Andrew did a great job on a very hot day. Having an older home means there is always problems when you fix or replace anything, but not this time. !am very happy!

Tate came out, measured for the new door; recommended a galvanized door to help prevent rusting; set up an appointment for the installation; when the door was ready, he called us, set up an appointment, and the installer arrived on time, did a great job of installing the door, and cleaned up after the job. I highly recommend them!

The other contractor that I hired for the job took the time to look at my situation and provided a very helpful suggestion of keeping my original window and adding a second window that would meet egress code. I now have much more light, on two sides of my basement, and at the proper height.

They came out to give me the estimate and once we agreed on the go ahead they gave me a timeline. And they know what they are doing! When he said it would take approximately 3 weeks to get it manufactured and ready for installation they were exact. When they scheduled the time to install they were very flexible. Cleaned up after and I couldn't be happier with it.

They were great. I would recommend them because of professionalism. They were on time and they pretty much did what they promised.

It was great. It was awesome. They did really good work. For what I got, I think I paid a fair price. It's a pretty major thing to do. I don't think you can find it much cheaper. I didn't shop around too much. But I don't think you get too much better than that.

.The sales person came to take the measurements and make all of the arrangements. He requested the permit from the township using plans they provide. You pay for the permit. I spoke with the scheduler and we picked a day that worked for me. The crew of two arrived at 8:00 AM. They moved equipment into place - expect some lawn damage. The digger created the hole quickly. They place rails on the wall and the saw cuts right through the concrete with ease. Once cut they knocked out the pc which they took away. Then they dropped the stairs in place, putting in sealant and screws to hold it in place. They caulked around the area on all sides included the new door. Then they put stone in the hole and finished off with dirt. They scooped the extra dirt into their truck and took away the mats that protect your lawn. They were done around 2 PM. You have to schedule the inspection after the work is done.

Norman, the owner, came out for the estimate and job description. He was thoughtful and professional, walking us through our options. For whatever reason, they did not book us even though my contractor scheduled it over a month in advance. Rain delayed the work another two weeks. The workers who came for the installation did a good job. After the heavy snows and rains we have had some water issues around, but not related to the egress. Steelway came out twice to help us remediate the water issue.

The staff man that came out initially to do the measuring was prompt and courteous. He is very professional and very friendly. I really didn't know exactly what was out there and he really helped me a lot with what I really needed. They told me how long it was going to take and it was right on the target from when I need the doors installed. It was exactly what I had expected. And then, the person who came who actually installed it was also courteous and everything was cleaned up afterwards. He is very professional. I was really happy with the service. They also told me how to maintain the door and wrote everything down for me so it was really helpful. They were great.

My review is in two parts to explain what I believe are the true signs of a great company. We contracted Steelway from a recommendation and requested an estimate. Norman came out promptly and inspected my basement,explained the process, timeline and cost. We agreed to have the work done. We were kept up to date on the permit process and when we were scheduled to have the egress installed. On the day of the install the crew was prompt and again explained how the work was to be performed. there was several inches of snow on the ground so they removed the snow and layer down protective mats for the equipment. the work was performed in about 6 hours and looked great. Very little dirt or water in the basement. They cleaned up the area and left it in good shape. The next day we got 10 inches of snow. I noticed the backfill had sunk significantly and the paint on the door was peeling. Also there was slight seepage of water on the bottom step which I agreed were all severe weather related since it was extremely cold and wet when the installation was performed.. Now I was pretty upset about these issues, however after talking to Norman he assured me they would make it right which they did. The second part of my review pertains to what I believe makes a company great and that is the response to issues that always come up in home remodeling. Steelway went above and beyond in addressing my concerns and issues. They came out several time to backfill the area, replaced the doors and repaired the leak. I can't say enough about the way Norman and his team responded and made sure I was pleased with the results. I would absolutely use this company again and I do recommend them to all Angie list members. Great job Steelway.

Steelway did an excellent job outlining the scope of the project, handling the permit, and installing the egress. From start to finish, everything ran smoothly. John and Andrew did an excellent job installing the egress. They arrived on-time and the workmanship is oustanding. Highly recommend.

Tate gave us the original quote, took measurements, explained the entire process, and answered all of our questions. On the day of installation, the workers came and completed the process in less than 5 hours. They were careful not to drive the trucks in our neighbors yard and to clean up the mess left behind by the trucks. Very pleased with the Steelway!

Steelway came and even rescheduled when they were concerned about damage tomour lawn. They put down mats to limit damage, and watched the sidewalks as well. They put up screening to keep,dust and dirt from the basement, and were careful with their feet. They came in, worked efficiently and finished in one day. When i was concerned about and interior door, they sent over their carpenter to make sure it was installed the same day. Couldnt be more pleased with their work. When the township came to inspect the work, there was no issues and done quickly. Steelway had handled and closed the permits, and it was all so simple.

The whole install took 6 hours from start to finish. Wow.

What stood out to me was their installation procedure. The workers were very polite. I was just a little disappointed with how they acted in the basement though. What they do for this auction is that they dig out from the outside and cut through the wall with a diamond blade. They did not protect the inside very well. The dust from the saw covered our entire basement. Other than that, they were good workers. They tried to be careful. I was told they were supposed to put a tarp up so that there would be minimal dust intrusion, but they did not take precaution in that respect. The job was good, and I liked what they did. Their price was fair. They had to come back though because this was around hurricane Sandy time. They got really backed up and did not finish the job till much later. I had to have a special door ordered for the interior, so that was not their fault. There were some mix ups on their end of it. They ordered the wrong size and wrong type of door on the interior so that delayed things. It took them much longer to get the job finished than it should have, and that was a little bit disappointing. I expected a little bit more as far as the way it was finished inside. The sales guy was very good, and when I asked some questions, the guy that came out, Sam, was responsive to our questions. They were professional in one area but kind of sloppy in another. If I would get another door, I would use them again because the quality of the product is outstanding.
