Technician Jim was prompt and quickly services my high velocity, 3 ton AC unit which had been diagnosed by a large, well known HVAC company to be beyond repair. Jim turned on the unit, made some minor adjustments & said I was good to go! They savedme with their honesty & integrity!

Heater quit working. Called E.A. Harvey. Technician arrived same day, as promised. Replaced heater control. Heater works. Service was quick and timely.

The first time I found Ed Harvey was during the winter of 2014. On the coldest weekend of the winter our heater completely died on a Saturday night. By Sunday morning our home temperature was in the 40's , as the outside the temp was in the single digits. After exhaustively searching the net and attempting to contact many heating and AC companies , E A Harvey answered the phone and agreed to come to our house early on a Sunday morning. We were saved! Ed was at our house in less than 2 hours and our heating was working within another hour. The bill blew us away as well. He was 1/2 of what we thought it would be. It was unbelievable that he was willing to see a new customer on a Sunday morning. He was awesome! He was and is such a nice sincere and trustworthy guy. I have since had his company help us out with our business AC issues. He went above and beyond with that issue as well as he repaired our business AC unit in an amazingly fast and professional way. And the cost was very fair. I can't say enough good things about this company...... Oh,,,by the way,,,,,, I have referred him to a friend as well. My friend was told by another company (that aggressively advertises there services on the radio) that he needed a whole new AC unit ( no question his unit was un repairable according to this other company). EA Harvey came in with his second opinion. He informed my friend that his AC unit needed only a simple repair costing less than $100.. His unit was fixed and working within an hour and has not had any issues with it since. This guy is awesome. He is incredibly honest, professional and very reasonable and Helpfull. I recomend this guy and company to everyone .

The only problem I had was "phone tag" at the beginning to set the appointment, but I kept at it since they were highly rated on Angie's list--I figured they were worth the try. I guess I called a bit early in the season (mid-April). I called early 'cause I usually procrastinate on these things and didn't want to do that again, and because I hadn't had my A/C checked for a couple of years and if anything went wrong I wanted to get it fixed before cooling season really got in full swing. My hubby has a ton of allergies so we need the A/C. They were prompt, checked everything out, and gave me some good advice on filters, etc. They sent me a bill later. I didn't get the bill for almost two months--that seemed a bit odd but I don't think that effected their service at all.

Ed was prompt, pleasant and went out of his way to explain what he had done. No up charges, either. Was familiar with the type of furnace and clearly knowledgeable and skilled.

They skipped lunch to make it to my house on time as their earlier appointment went longer than they expected. They worked diligently to fix my furnace (actually figure out the problem) and did not sell me anything more than a piece of tubing. It was nice to pay for a person's time instead of having a repair company fit you into a fixed pricing scheme. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the bill in the mail as it was about a 1/2 of the companies that use fixed pricing! The furnace has been running perfectly for the last 5 months. It was like having your neighbor come over an fix the furnace. I will call them again if I have another problems with my HVAC.

It was a very good service. They were very prompt. They came out in less than 2 hours of my phone call. They figured out what was wrong in an hour and up me to get it fix. They were very easy to deal with and they did what they said they would do. I was very please with them.

Ed was called on a Saturday A.M. He was very pleasant. Went right to work, did a very thorough cleaning. Took time to find out why boiler goofed up. Fixed problem. Awesome service. Real nice guy. Clean work on a dirty job.

The thermostat on my heat pump was no longer receiving power from the control unit the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Having had a bad experience with Horizon the previous winter I found EA Harvey through Angie's List. I called them early on Wed and left a message. They returned my call within an hour and said they would try to make it out later that afternoon. It was snowing pretty hard and I was surprised they would attempt a visit at all; I didn't really expect to see them until Friday at the earliest. The technician arrived mid-afternoon. He was very polite and professional. I watched him work on the unit in the attic. I could tell immediately that he really knew what he was doing, was way more knowledgable than the Horizon techs I had out the previous winter. He quickly diagnosed that there was a problem with the outdoor unit. He found that the contactor on the outdoor unit had blown and was no longer functioning. After replacing the bad part and fuse he verified that the unit was working properly and was on his way. It took less than two hours to complete the job.

Ed was prompt, courteous, and friendly. More importantly, after having our units looked at by a number of firms over the years, Ed was the first one to get the downstairs unit working. He took the time to take everything apart, clean it thoroughly, and get it running its best.. We were also told by other firms that the upstairs unit needed to be replaced "immediately"! For over two years Ed has cleaned, maintained, and serviced it and it is still running like a top. In an era where everyone wants to run up the bill and sell you something expensive, we have come to trust Ed not only to know how to really service our HVAC but we also trust his advice. It is almost time to replace some of our system and there is no question we will use EA Harvey to do the job.

Ed serviced the unit about 2 wks prior to this job. It seemed to work well until a string of very hot days when the unit would just not cool the house and ran continuously. They returned within a couple of days of being called and replaced the condenser. My issue came when it was time to pay the bill and there was no discount for either Angie's List member or the senior discount (expecting either but not both discounts). When Ed quoted the price I asked if it included the discount. He said Bonnie would take care of that in the final bill. When there was no discount in the final bill I asked Bonnie about it. She said they provide everyone with the best possible quote for a job. I told her the discounts were shown on Angie's List and asked if that was incorrect. She said yes and she would look into it. After a lengthy discussion she finally said I could have a discount but actually made me feel somewhat guilty for asking about it. So I paid the entire amount without any discount and asked that she just make sure the listing is corrected so it was no longer deceptive which she agreed to do . It's now 2 months later and the discounts still are posted (10% senior and 5% A.L.). I still would recommend them for great work and service but want to let people know that there are actually no senior or Angie's List discounts given by them. ....................................................................My comments to the provider's response......................................................... Everything I said IS true. Neither of these discounts were on my bill. Ed called me with a price. When I asked if that included the discount he said you would take care of the discount on the final bill - that's why I called you about it when I received the bill without a discount. And, as I stated in my review, after a lengthy conversation about how you always provide the very lowest pricing for ALL your customers without using discounts, you did say you would give me the discount. I did NOT decline it in the end 'because of your great service'. I said I would pay it because I was pleased with Ed's work but asked that you PLEASE CORRECT IT ON YOUR ANGIE'S LIST PROFILE so it was no longer deceptive. Which you agreed to do. Regarding your response that "A quote is a QUOTE - bottom line", the discount I was owed was requested during the phone call when Ed gave me the quote and BEFORE the work was done. If you truly believe that you give discounts "ALL the time' I will gladly look forward to your refund check to me in the amount of my discount. Otherwise, Angie's List Users........Get it in writing from Bonnie DIRECTLY (she does all the billing) or you won't be getting it at all. Ed is great at what he does but, by his admission, does nothing with the billing. Bonnie, I did as your response suggested and 'just read our reviews' (at least a few pages anyway) and found comments about pricing but NO comments about any discount being provided. I do not appreciate it being said that my evaluation was not true. I am not unhappy with the service provided and stated that. I just wanted to let people know my experience with the discount issue so they can make sure up front if they would get it or that you would remove the offer from your listing.

Ed & Jim were very courteous and professional and always on time. Cleaned smoke pipe @ chimney - inspected proper venting. Removed. & cleaned burners & pilot assembly. Cleaned port on inducer motor, oiled Motor, cleared air tubes & tested pressure switch. Checked operation of blower & tested amp draw on motor. Checked all electrical & tightened connections. Inspected evaporator coils for blockage (negative) . Replaced air filter. Flushed condensate pump, cleaned trap & blew out drain lines with nitrogen . Tested refrigerant pressure & temperatures . Tightened service valves & sealed caps. Inspected condenser coils. Checked operation of condenser fan & motor - tested capacitor. Cleaned contactors , tested amp draw on compressor - lubricated controls. Checked electrical & grounds.

Great experience starting with Bonnie in the office who was quite knowledgeable. The Gentleman (cant recall his name) arrived the next day, on time, and was professional, kind, mild mannered...just a normal guy. He climbed into our crazy attic accessible thru a hatch door in a bedroom closet, and fixed the problem quickly.

E. A Harvey is a small business with exceptional customer service and expertise. When the previous company I was using did the annual tune up of the AC, it didn't work. I called Harvey, they came right over, found a wire that the other company failed to reconnect, and made sure I was happy. I was overjoyed. They are now my new service provider.

We called on Friday night and he arrived the next day. Ed was able to get our air conditioner up and running temporarily while the part was on order. He came back within four days and replaced the part. It's been running great ever since. I would highly recommend him, great price! Our other air conditioner servicer would have told us that the unit needed replaced but Ed was reasonable and able to fix at a low cost.

Bottom line -- it went superbly well. I decided to contact Ed Harvey based on angielist reviews and my desire to break away from my current HVAC provider to a smaller, more customer-oriented firm. On my first call Ed answered the phone himself and we had a good discussion of what I wanted to do. He arranged for the well driller he works with (David Powell, president of Ed Powell Pump and Well Drilling) to come with him to look at my property a couple days later. I could tell from their interaction with each other that they enjoyed working with each other and trusted each other. Their quotes came in via email a few days later and I found them to be within my expectations. I accepted them. My wells had to be drilled on a slope and required a few days without rain to enable the well drilling rig to be brought in and get back out without getting stuck. Since we have had a wet spring that delayed the project for about a month. David Powell called me in early May and said he thought they could start the following Monday even though it was still a little damp. They did come promptly on that Monday and set about drilling 2 each 400 foot deep wells. The work went smoothly until they tried to drive their rig back off my property--they got stuck big time. Within an hour or so they had procured the services of the biggest tow truck I have ever seen in my life and it successfully dragged the rig back up the hill. All this was done with good humor and was kind of fun (for me) to watch. Ed Harvey had been watching from the side while the wells were being drilled and was there immediately to start installation of the heat pump when the well drilling was complete. He was on the job personally during most of the installation assuring that it was done to his standards. His crew was professional, competent, and courteous. They were in and out in a couple days and both his and David Powell's crews did an excellent job of leaving the job site clean and in good shape. So far my new geothermal system is performing excellently, but it is way too early to confirm energy saving value. That will take a full year or more. In the meantime I will be claiming my tax credit and PECO rebate which together will offset about 1/3 of the cost mentioned above. Overall I am a delighted customer of Ed Harvey, Inc and Ed Powell Pump and Well Drilling Inc.

Ed and his wife are wonderful to work with. I had another company come out for a fall HVAC check last year and was presented with a list of 'have too' repairs totaling over $1300. I waited through the winter and had Ed come out this spring to check things out. He took care of everything that needed it (charging <250. for what the 'other company' wanted over 700.) and told me what didn't need it. He is extremely honest and professional. I highly recommend his company (have already) and will definitely contact him again when I need to. Would give him an A++ if available.
