Crew of 3 came early on 07/25/2012 and moved furniture in the affected room (which had knotty-pine paneling) and removed trim where necessary. The job consisted of putting a trench the full length of one wall from front to back of the room as well as half of the back wall connecting with the side wall trench. They then installed aggregate, pipe, plastic sheets along the outside of the trenches and a sump pit at the front end of the long wall trench. The sump pump was connected through the front wall to an outside buried pipe system (which drained all of the down-comers and the side of the house and part of the backyard) which I had installed myself about 15 years previously and which emptied into the front street. This was all done in about 3 hours and they then quickly cleaned up the work area and hauled the excavated material away. The men worked well and efficiently together and did a very good job! I feel the price was fair price for the work performed.
Description of Work: Representative came to house in April 2012 to review the problem and gave suggestions and price for the job. He seemed vey knowledgeable about the problem. the problem was water coming in one corner of the back wall of the basement from a hill behind our house. I had selected this provider from your list of rated contractors.

Projected completed on time and in conformance with the contracted terms. However, during the work, a toilet was removed and the active water line to the toilet was not sealed. I discovered that a rag had been applied to the opening, and was not sealed properly. As a result, a slow leak developed in the immediate area of the toilet, requiring a call to Champion to address. After two calls, and a week later, Champion engaged a plumber, who took just a few minutes to complete the job, by connecting a permanent seal to the waterline. The leak was repaired and the area dried out in a few days. Champion paid for the plumbing work, so I did not have to pay an additional charge.

Crew arrived ahead of time, and began to work right away. This is my first experience with this type of work, and I really did not know what to expect . 3 man crew all knew their jobs and went about it without delay. I do believe working part of system should have been explained in detail to homeowener including operation & maintenance of sump pump if any at all. The only info I have is to questions I asked ,and you know you always forget to think of everything. Also serium 1000 mold kill was included in contract and was never applied. A membrane was applied to block walls the workers called bright white which in all honestly I expected to fit & look better than it does, however it does look better than the plain block walls. It took a little over 3 hours for job including cleanup which was satisfactory, although next day I had to clean a lot of debris from sump pump which was a result of wet cement & stone fill around French drains, which could not have been done while cement was wet. Again this I believe should have been explained to homeowener. We had a lot of rain since work was done & garage is dry with no seepage & system is working great. All told I am satisfied, but not at 100%,due to some small issues.

We signed a contract with them and they would start the job next week. The owner of the company is very knowledgeable about his work and answered all my questions. He's very through and put me in touch with other people in the neighborhood that he talks with. He wasn't the highest bid and the lowest bid we went by strictly by his professionalism and the knowledge about the work.

The workman came on time, dug out the section of the basement that was to be redone, installed the new materials, installed a new pump, and closed up and cemented the area. Overall, it took 4-5 hours. The questions I asked during the work, were all answered well.
Description of Work: I had an existing system that needed repaired. Champion understood my situation, offered a solution along with a guarentee for the work done (which was not to install a complete new system, but to fix what I had), gave a very good price, and the work performed by Champion was done very well. I had other bids which were twice the amount. I had considered 3 other companies, but found Champion to be quite a good value.a

Champion Waterproofing did a complete waterproofing of our basement. They installed 2 sump pumps and 2 internal french drains. They used water proof panels to seal off the walls. Pricing was much lower than the other company from whom we got a quote. The gentleman that came to the house was very professional and sat down with us and explained in detail the work to be done.

we came home one to find water ina back room that we never use and also noticed there was black mold on the wall. we checked angies list and called champion as well as two others to get prices for the repairs. Champion showed within ten minutes of the appointment two days later and wrote up the estimate right there while we waited. the price he gave was less than the others and we liked the way he described the repair they would do. we agreed to have the work done and the next day the office called to make an appointment which was whtin a week of the estimate. the employees showed up on time and started to work. the work was completed in four hours and was perfect. what a great group of people, friendly and knowledgable.

Our house had an existing french drain system done by a different company that was failing. We got estimates from both Champion and Bakers to tear out and replace a portion of the french drain and the quotes were within $100 of each other. We liked the idea of a more traditional french drain system as opposed to the flush mount drain system that Bakers offered. We let Champion know that we were going with them. They were able to quickly schedule the job within a week or two. They even found a crew to do the job for us on a Saturday, as it is difficult for my husband to get off of work. They arrived exactly when they were supposed to and took care to cover carpeting and put up plastic dust shields where necessary. They were both very nice and professional. They ran into some difficulty with the job when they discovered a section of the concrete floor that was about 10 inches thick and the jackhammer was having difficulty getting through it. It took them about 8 hours to get through that section but they kept at it and didnt complain. I cannot speak to how well the system is working because the concrete isn't 100% dry yet and we havent had a big rain to test it. There are a couple minor issues I will mention but I dont think they are a very big deal. During the quote, the sales rep had mentioned that the block would be sprayed down with a product to kill any mold. I saw no evidence of this being done. The wall membrane that Champion uses is 4 feet high instead of the typical membrane that is less that 12 inches. I dont really see the need to have it so high when water should only be leaving the bottom row of block where the holes that been drilled for the system. I dont like the idea of not being able to see the block due to this tall membrane. The system could be failing and evidence of the wet block will be hidden behind this membrane. They also did not seal this membrane to the block wall with any kind of caulking. Our last system had done this and I cant be sure, but I think during the sales pitch they said that they would do this. I guess my husband and I will do it ourselves so we can be sure that he moisture is trapped within the drain system and not creating damp air throughout the basement. Our sales rep also mentioned that some of the exterior mortar joints needed some work on the effected corner of the house and that they would work on them for us. This was never done. I think that there might have been some lack of communication of the finer details of the quote from the salesman to the crew. And my last minor complaint is that they dust curtains were put up with duct tape. When I took them down they left adhesive on our wood trim and it actually ripped off a section of paint/primer from our drywall down to the paper facing. We will have to work on these areas to get them back to their previous state. Overall I think that the work was completely properly and the service we received was great. As mentioned, there were more minor issues I had but nothing that should deter anybody from going with Champion. We used their financing option (6 months same as cash with WellsFargo card).

Champion's two employees came exactly as scheduled and quickly put up plastic and sealed all the doors and furnace intakes and outlets. They put plastic on the carpet that was not pulled up. They started the dusty process of jack hammering the cement floor. My husband needed to run some plumbing when they had the floor opened up to accomodate a future bathroom install. My husband helped the crew by taking the cement in our trailer and dumping it on our property, no problem for us, we had a spot for it. He didn't have to, the crew would have hauled it away, but it allowed them to get the jack hammering done quicker and they were nice enought to do a little extra to help with our plumbing project. We really appreciated that. They had our well water tank moved, the floor dug out, the drains installed and the cement replaced and they came back to reinstall our tank after the cement had a chance to cure a bit so we would not be without water in that night. The oiginal estimate of time was three days, but with my husbands help (he's retired and needed something to do -- thanks guys), they were abe to get the job done in two and a half days. They cleaned up all the plastic, scraps, and left everything perfect, except for the dust which we have to clean up, the place looks fantastic. As an update, we called them about some water that we noticed in the basement, but they never followed up on this issue which was disappointing. We later learned it was related to some pressure washing that my husband had done.

This review is way over-due and I want to apologize to Champion for that. Some personal emergencies prevented me from writing it sooner. The bottom line: as far as my experience goes: Champion ROCKS!! From the initial estimate on, it was a very friendly, yet professional expecience. They ALL know what they are doing and they do it in a very efficient timely manner. The man that came over and gave me the estimate, Bill, apprecieated how over-whelmed I was feeling and made the process as easy and painless for me as possible. I had a complete understanding of what they were going to do, and more importantly, he made sure I knew what prep work I should do ahead of time. The job involved an enormous amount of dust so I was completely prepared by having my furniture out of the way and well protected. They also had to pull some paneling down and did it in a way that I could re-use it when putting it all back together again. They were respectful of both me and my space. As an extra bonus they were also done ahead of time! All questions and concerns I had were answered in a timely manner and I have not had a single problem since the work was completed. I would hire them again in a heart-beat. My over-all take on Champion Waterproofing is that they are good honest people doing a great and honest job. I have recommended them to many and will cont. to do so.

The work was completed in a timely manner. The result solved the water leaking through the foundation walls. I would have rated their work as an "A" except for the condition of the area at completion: the work area was left with mud and gravel in the area; some of the gravel ended up on the lawn outside; they used my vacuum cleaner to clean up the mud and debris and left it clogged up. They later came back and cleaned up the gravel and mud, and have promised to replace the vacuum.

We recieved an estimate for interior french drains. The cost was reasonable in comparison to other estimates that we recieved. We ended up needed other basement plumbing work so for a couple of different reasons, we ended up using another company to do the french drains. Overall, we felt comfortable with Champion, felt they were not trying to oversell us, and were honest. Again, we did not have them complete the work, so I cannot comment on any of that.

They inspected and recommended interior French drains. Their sales pitch was exhaustive and well-prepared, with several pages of a binder dedicated to explaining why French drains were important, what could happen to a house without them, testimonials, etc. The hard sell makes me wonder if they would be a bit too eager to install French drains where they aren't warranted, but I have no basis for comparison. On the other hand, they seem very knowledgeable about the procedure, and seem to do quite a number of them. We chose to get them, as there was clearly moisture building up behind the wall and it seemed evident to me that they would do some good. They did the promised work in the allotted time, and cleaned up nicely. They were able to avoid damaging the basement wood paneling, which I appreciated. They seem a bit expensive. On the other hand, this is hard work, and the job (as far as I can tell) was performed with high quality.

Chad and Aaron arrived promptly on September 26th at 8:10 am. They hung plastic in all the rooms to protect from the dust. They moved my washer and dryer, took out the laundry tub and protected my flooring with plastic. They had to jack hammer out the cement floor along the entire basement wall. In the family room, a plastered wall had to be torn down to access the block. I am glad Howard recommended anchors and drains in the family room even though I hated to tear down a perfectly good wall. I am getting estimates from contractors on restoring that wall. Chad proceeded to spray the interior walls with a mold killing agent and let it dry. He showed me that where there was active mold, the agent foamed up. I found that fascinating! After the cement was dug up and removed, they drilled 7 holes into the block walls at shoulder level where the anchors are to be attached. They drove 6?-18? rods into the outside soil. The farthest rod had to get beyond my deck. They attached steel anchors to the rods and secured the bottom to the footer. They laid 4? perforated drain pipe in the ditch so that it was against the wall. They were able to take the pipe through the garage wall and over the bank and let it gravity drain. In the family room they put in a clean out valve so that if needed, the pipe can be flushed out. There is another one in the garage. They put up Plas-Tex vapor barrier against the wall. This resists mold and mildew and will allow any moisture to drip down toward the drain pipe. They covered the drain pipe with river rocks. They mixed and poured cement over the rocks and blended it into the existing floor. The last thing to do was to dig a hole and put a plate on the rod that was driven into the yard; seven rods, seven holes. Once the plate was secured on the rod outside, Chad used a torque wrench inside on the wall anchor to tighten the rods to within 80 ft/lbs. torque. They filled in the holes and cleaned up inside. All work done in the 3 days that were promised. I called Chad and Aaron Batman and Robin! They worked so well together. They were knowledgeable and very easy to communicate with. They never hesitated to answer my questions and concerns and I did not have to pay extra for the occasional humorous remark!! I am not one to give praise easily. But, Champion has two excellent representatives working for them. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: I bought a split entry house three months ago whose entire back basement wall was bowed about 1-1/2 inches. Also, half way up the wall the blocks were wet and had black mold. This was in the double car garage, utility room and finished family room. Howard Alexander from Champion Waterproofing came to my house to explain the wall anchoring and the internal French drain. Out of three estimates, his was the best explanation and price. I liked the fact that he came back two more times to answer more questions that I had. He gave me a date for starting the project and said it would take three days to complete the work. On occasion I had to call the office and Elvira was very helpful and pleasant.
