We loved working with Susan and Gregg Simmen of ACR Kitchen and Bath on our bathroom remodel! Our bathroom needed a lot of work and we weren’t exactly sure what we wanted, but we had a set budget. From start to finish, ACR was great. We worked with Susan on every element of the design, including picking out fixtures, tiles and flooring. She met with us at times that worked with our schedules, so the process went very smoothly. There were several times that we changed our minds on certain design choices and Susan was really great about making those changes – very flexible and helpful. Gregg met us at our home, reviewed the design, and developed the plan for the project. Throughout the process, Gregg and Susan understood and respected our budget constraints and worked with us to figure out how to accomplish our goals within our budget. The crew who did the work, Tim and Jonathan, were fantastic. They were friendly and professional. They completed the demolition efficiently and did a fantastic job cleaning up. They completed the work of building the bathroom up diligently and on time, at each step making sure that we were happy with the work they were doing. ACR brings in specialized professions for tiling and for plastering – both of whom did an amazing job and were highly attentive to our opinions and design choices. Following the project, ACR and the crew have been quite responsive to the rare issue that has come up and they’ve worked to make sure that we’re 100% satisfied with the product. We would absolutely recommend ARC Kitchen and Bath to anyone. Our bathroom turned out better than we could’ve hoped and we felt supported from start to finish. Susan and Gregg are the perfect team and we hope to work with them when we decide to remodel the kitchen!

ACR truly knows the value of good customer service. Their installers met and exceeded my expectations. Even when "surprises" were found in the kitchen installation (water pipes routed above the flooring), they stopped to do the appropriate quality job and there was no haggling on additional cost. No detail was left unaddressed. Thank you for the excellent work!

I never got the quote that I was supposed to get.
Description of Work: I contacted them to reglaze my bathtub. I got a call back the same week from someone named Jeff. He asked me to take a few pictures of the bathtub and email them to him. I did that, and he replied that he would get back to me the following week with a quote. I never heard from him again.

Hi, I see you gave us an F review on Angie's List. There is no one here by the name of Jeff. I think you can see that everywhere where we have reviews that is uncommon for us. I do apologize, but I do not have any record of your call or email on file or it is possible it fell through the cracks. If we spoke on the phone or contacted by email please forward me what you sent to me in the 1st place and we can certainly provide you with a quote. You could always call my cell phone anytime at 724-875-4728. I can assure you that we are in the business of performing this kind of work and don't throw any leads away. Let me know, thanks! There were a few hiccups with some incorrect items having been shipped but those issues were resolved quickly and easily. (And the incorrect shipments were NOT the fault of ACR.) The crew of John, Johnny and sometimes James was terrific. Aaron, the tile/backsplash guy, was equally as great. The guys didn't just do the job - they made sure I was aware of everything they were doing and always asked me where I wanted things placed, etc. They were great and made sure everything was as perfect as could be. It was a pleasure having them around - really! Susan worked with me on saving some money and was very patient with my changes and requests. I kept waffling on the countertop choice so Susan schlepped me out to a big supplier to look at every piece of stone they had - she definitely went the distance. The crew from Cambria was excellent as well and very attentive to detail. Cambria did have to come back and re-do the sink cut out (too much overhang) and they did that no charge. The project came in right on the estimate (any changes during the project were updated and included in the final contract)I would not hesitate to use ACR again or to recommend ACR to anyone. (Please note - the bathroom hasn't been painted yet but I wanted to be able to show some of the craftsmanship.)
Description of Work: The original bathroom fixtures were removed and a new toilet, vanity with a banjo top (Onyx collection), cabinet over the toilet, new light and medicine chest were installed - along with towel rings, towel bar, toilet paper thing. Additionally a new tile floor was put down (new subfloor had to be laid) and backsplash surrounding the vanity top and one narrow panel on the other wall, A lot of plaster work had to be done for the recessed medicine chest. The two countertops in the kitchen were also replaced with Cambria quartz tops plus new double sink/faucet.

Very well. Pleasant experience picking out patterns, colors, tile, accents, and fixtures. Handled all "surprises" with professionalism and speed. Completed work when they said. Came back quickly to correct minor issues. Very careful about keeping their route from garage to bathroom clean; laid dropcloths each day and picked up each evening. Great work ethic, and good coordination between crews.

Greg and Susan were wonderful to work with on this project, so much so that I am having them remodel my kitchen as well. The crew are professional and considerate when working in the home. The bathroom is beautiful and the craftsmanship is excellent. The company's motto is "done right the first time" and that is absolutely true. They found a problem with an exhaust pipe in the wall and replaced it. That was huge, because that pesky little problem was causing a huge crack in the wall. I now have a beautiful bathroom. Couldn't be more pleased!!!

We had ACR Kitchen and Bath do a complete renovation of our kitchen, including knocking down a wall to expand the kitchen, placing entirely new floors and walls, replacing two windows and a back door, and moving plumbing, electricity, and vents. Our experience was extremely positive! Starting with communicating with Gregg our interests and desires, we felt like he wanted our business and was willing to go out of his way to help us realize what was possible (and what wasn't, which is an equally important job!). We went back and forth for a very long time, and Gregg and Susan were both extremely helpful and patient. Communication via e-mail was excellent, and this is very important when there are so many things to consider. Once the actual job started, everything went quite well with only minor hiccoughs. We had only minor complaints related to the team not initially putting up plastic at the openings of the room, but it was a simple oversight that was not a continued issue. The project did take 10 weeks, longer than estimated, but, again, this is a very small complaint considering everything else went so well and I'm aware that the project going over the holidays added to that, as well as some issues that had to be dealt with that weren't originally realized (like a cement slab between two rooms). Greg and Sue ended up getting us a whole house cleaner due to the extra level of dust (the hard wood floor sander also didn't put up plastic), and were kind and courteous to my minor complaint. The team we worked with for the demolition and installation (Tim, Rich and Richard) were absolutely amazing, and I would highly recommend them for any project. They were courteous, thoughtful, and precise. They cleaned up after themselves as much as possible every day, asked for opinions as often as needed, and answered the numerous questions I asked throughout each week. They were extremely knowledgable. The work they have done is great, and they have remained available for any slight changes/questions even weeks after the project was completed. One of the cabinet doors was warped, and it was replaced by Rich a few weeks after the project finished. We will absolutely be using them in the future for additional projects.

Description of Work: We did a full remodel of our kitchen. Since the style is more contemporary, most of the cabinets and details were special order and not in-stock from the manufacturer, so the time frame of our renovation seems longer than normal. |Greg, Susan, and Tim have been great to work with, and we found every last person that came to work on our home was terrific to deal with. |We're very happy with our new kitchen!

We were recommended to Gregg and Susan Simmen by a friend. We were originally going to just have new ceramic tile installed but after an initial visit to our home by Gregg, we decided to use Sentrel. It looks great and is easy to clean plus it won't mildew. I was a little skeptical at first but I'm really glad this is what we chose. We were going to have ACR install fixtures that we bought from Lowe's. Gregg explained the quality differences between different products and we opted for a Kohler fixture after a visit to their showroom in Jeannette. Two workers performed all the labor. The hauled away all their trash and were very polite. We even had them working in our house while we were away. The installation exceeded our expectations and took one and a half days to complete. When it comes to home repairs and maintenance, my wife and I are ignorant. Gregg and Susan had a lot of patience dealing with us. My wife and I envisioned the bathroom being done differently but they brought us together. I would use them again and when we are ready to do another bathroom or kitchen, they will be at the top of our list.
Description of Work: ACR removed our ceramic tile, installed Sentrel surround and new bath fixtures.

ACR, and their proprietors Gregg and Susan, were super easy and responsive to work with. After contacting them from Angie's List, Gregg got right in touch with us to schedule an appt to look over our proposed installation and to brainstorm about different options, before developing a working plan, which was amazing because we went into this, our first big remodeling project, with only a vague sense of what we wanted. Gregg helped us work out the positions of the fixtures, and then we worked with Susan at their showroom to select tile. ACR deals with some of the top tile manufacturers and we found just what we were looking for. While our ideas and tastes were perhaps a bit unorthodox, Susan helped to keep our selections tasteful and worked with my wife to insure that they were harmonious. Also, throughout the process, she would let us know when our ideas were becoming a bit _too_ special, which helped us stay within our budget. Once we had the tiles and fixtures selected, Gregg sent us a price quote, and work began a couple of weeks later. ACR seems to select craftsmen who are perfectionists in their trades, and we had three different specialist teams come through who were all very polite and reasonably tidy, and were super concerned that we were getting what we wanted. After 5 weeks of work, including one week in the middle to let the (perfect) plaster dry, and a couple of days when other contractors were installing a skylight and a custom concrete counter top, the job was complete! We were looking for a first-class installation to create an inspired and inspiring space, and we found that with ACR. We would definitely work with them again!

We really liked them although we didn't end up going with them. He was very professional, very helpful, had a lot of interesting ideas and he got the job done right. We were invited in the show room and we began to pick the products we would use, very great company. We were looking for someone who could do more complicated structural things in our basement but if we were doing a straight line remodel, we would have picked them.

Thank you for your review. When we first spoke I asked if you had a budget range in mind and if you had performed any research and you indicated that you did not have a specific budget in mind and were unaware of costs associated. We were waiting for you to talk this over with your husband and get back to us also. We are not high by any means, in fact we are typically 15%-25% lower than our competetion, i.e., Manor House, Patete, IBS, etc.. If we are being compared to the local "do it all" handyman, that is not an accurate comparison. We are a fully insured company that employs trustworthy adults at a living wage with health care benefits and a couple trustworthy specialist/trade sub-contractors. We do provide a showroom which has operating costs, vehicles and memberships associated to running a bussiness at a professional level. We fought very hard and refined our process to keep our overhead down which provides us to be very competitive to our parallel counterparts. Please keep in mind we are a one-stop-shop that encompasses the entire job and you deal with us direct and we cover all our work. We also use all products that are made in the USA. Since we had no budget to work with, we quoted your project using our standard cabinet line which includes slow close doors and drawers and heavy duty slide package. In our 15 years of experience customers always choose cabinets that have a lifetime warranty for fit and finish over the big box stores 1-5 year wannanty products that are made overseas. These cabinets are higher in cost than to others you may have been quoted, but we do sell them for 30% off everyday. We do have other cabinet lines available and even "in stock" cabinets if you would like to lower the price further. Changing the cabinet can change the cabinet price by 30-40%. We also quoted granite. The granite we use is 3cm and is the same as our competition. Others use 1.5 or 2cm solid surfaces which can break or chip especailly if not installed and sealed correctly. Installation is also very important with granite. The seams must be assembled with epoxy and not silicone and heald together with a hydrolic press to make a seamless juncture that is reliable. For educational purposes, you can visit many reliable professional resources on the internet which govern our industry. A few are (NKBA National Kitchen and Bath Assoc, NARI National Assoc of the Remodeling Institute or Porch.com) They include budgetary figures, but every project has different details. Projects with the level of yours for a proper function required demo, bulkhead removal, HVAC management, flooring removal, plastering, painting, cabinet installation, floor installation, installing baseboard and casing, and granite installation. The avaerage kitchen remodel like yours starts at $35k and can go to $70k depending on the products used. Your job including the bathroom floor being replaced and subfloor replacement with quality materials was $42,160 with the possibility of an HVAC tech for an additional $1500.00. Our competition would be from $50,000-$58,000 and we are twice as efficient. If you would like to discuss budgets and change products I am fine with the change. We would love for you to become one of our happy repeat customers and we have the resources and capabilites to meet your budget and your expectations. We just needed the feedback to discuss other alteratives. We can install "in stock" cabinets and leave the bulkhead alone and change to laminate for thousands less. We can meet again at our showroom and discuss other options at your earlist convenience if you like, just call me at 724-853-7757. When we are unaware of the budget area you need to stay between, it is difficult for us to guide you in the right direction. Sincerely, Gregg

Smooth as silk! They started as soon as they possibly could. Communication was regular and timely. Their workmanship is excellent. The 2nd floor bathroom that Absolute Construction remolded was in desperate need of a makeover. Over all the work was good and I like the end results. But as they say the devil is in the details. I had to totally clean the new bathroom before we could use it. They installed a tile floor so the door had to be sanded down. They left dirt all over the door, and wall. They were to paint the door as well. They painted the door but left dirty hand prints on the back of it. I had to wash down the newly painted walls and door. . They ordered the wrong mirror so we had to wait 3 weeks before the new mirror came in. When they took the wrong mirror down it left holes in the wall. The plaster came back and filled some of the holes and left plaster on the new counter top and was on the tile baseboard. When they installed the toilet, it was not done correctly the first time and it flooded my kitchen. And I should mention that Absolute Construction remolded a bathroom in our rental house and they flooded that bathroom too. This one was due to a line blowing on the tub. They were to order a new roller for the vanity. The drawer is harder than ever to open. I have a kitchen and a third bathroom to remodel and I do not think that I will use Absolute again because of the clean up work I had after they left.

[removed member names] - Thank you for the feedback regarding your bathroom project. As you know Absolute Construction And Remodeling is a small family owned company and we work hard to satisfy each and every customer. I was shocked and disappointed when notified of your review comments since we were not notified of any remaining issues with the project and would have appreciated the opportunity to correct any issues in advance. We agree that this bathroom remodel project did not go as planned. There were a few issues that arose and were addressed quickly with as little disruption to you and your husband. We spoke with your husband very frequently regarding all of the issues that arose and kept him up to date with the schedule. Your husband indicated each time that he understood that “things happen” and was accepting. The shower head arrived in the wrong finish – we placed a temporary head in its place until correct head arrived. Yes, we did not make provisions for the recessed cabinet – that employee was let go and we quickly ordered and installed the correct cabinet and we left a mirror in place for you to use. The sink bowl was damaged and cracked during installation due to an error with the granite clips, but we quickly had another sink bowl overnighted and received and installed the very next day. As far as cleaning the guys do leave the project clean each day and upon final completion and inspection of the bathroom a final clean is made for use. This was not done since we were returning to install the defective drawer slides once we received from the supplier – this was communicated to your husband. We did call to advise you that the drawer slides did arrive and that we would like to install and were informed 5 days after we left the original message that they had already been replaced along with the final cleaning of the bathroom. If you were not satisfied with the completion of the bathroom at the time you made the final payment at that time we should have been notified that there were still items that needed to be completed before final payment was rendered. Even after payment was given we said we were coming back with different slides to swap out. The slides were for a shallow depth cabinet and not standard and needed to be ordered. Communication is very important and you could have also called about the handprint on the door to be cleaned. The toilet was installed correctly and it was the shutoff valve that was faulty and replaced immediately.

Overall, we are very pleased with end result! The bathroom looks amazing! It is still hard to believe that beautiful room is our bathroom! Gregg and Susan even remembered us from a year ago when we had attempted to estimate and schedule a 1 1/2 bath and a basement shower remodel; however, due to Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh (Angie's List Review On 11/5/2012) ripping us off the amount we needed to do the 1 1/2 bath and a basement shower remodel and ultimately never resolving the issue of sewage backing up into the basement (the local municipal authority is who solved that issue for nothing), we knew that we could never afford to get anything done on aesthetic principal alone, but rather any improvements would have to be absolutely necessary.... This bathroom remodel had become absolutely necessary! Although devastated at the monetary loss involved, we also found ourselves ecstatic because we really hated our bathroom and wanted it remodeled anyway. I discovered through an access panel in the ceiling of our pantry that the plywood floor in the second floor bathroom had rotted away around the toilet as I was investigating why the toilet would have leaked so soon after being reset. We liked Gregg from the initial meeting, so we decided to call him back to do an estimate of just the second floor bathroom and set up an appointment with Sue to get the details sorted out. Within a few weeks, ground was broken and the bathroom was taken down to the studs and to the floor joists. Goodbye ugly tile! Goodbye paper thin plywood floor with large gaping hole! Goodbye! Three weeks later, a new room was built - our bathroom.

We wanted to totally re-do our bathroom to include marble shower, claw tooth tub. My husband and I designed the bathroom and chose most of the material from our own sources. We just needed someone to do the job. Absolute Construction was up to the task. We liked Greg (the owner, the "sales guy") from the get go, he was very quick with getting back to us on questions via phone and email to get everything set up. He was also willing to let us use Rex Glass to install the large glass enclosure for the shower, and we appreciated his flexibility on that (we preferred the design Rex offered over the one from the glass company Absolute Construction uses). Once everything was scheduled and all the supplies had arrived, Tim, became the lead man with the construction project. Tim was great with the details of the construction part and exceeded our expectations with his knowledge, worksmanship, and attitude. The rest of the crew was great as well. There was a screw up with the marble - the wrong type was delivered (this should probably have been caught before delivery, but non the less, Greg fixed that in a jiffy and the correct stuff came in very quickly, only delaying the job by a couple of days). The person that did the tile (I don't remember his name unfortunately) did an excellent job. My main suggestion for improvement would be to improve communication between the construction crew, as sometimes they didn't know when they were supposed to come to do things (ie painter was never told when to come, which caused a delay in finishing the job). However that is a minor issue - most importantly everything came out beautiful and was very well done. I would hire them again for this project, and would hire them again for any future project.
Description of Work: Complete bathroom remodel (marble shower, club tub, ...) We selected/ obtained most of our supplies (claw foot tub, vanities, lights, flooring) via our own sources. We obtained the marble for the shower and the faucets from Absolute Construction. Absolute Construction put it all together - the only thing they did not do was the glass enclosure of the shower - we used Rex Glass for this.
Great. They were very prompt and professional. Work was outstanding. Cleaned up everyday after themselves. Would highly recommend them.

After 20 years, we looked for a contractor to do both our master and main bathroom. Absolute submitted bids for both jobs. We made it clear if we were not happy with the master bath, we would use someone else for the main bathroom. Of course we did not have to worry. Just like the first job, the main bathroom was done to perfection. Absolute did a wonderful job taking everything down to the studs, new installation, adding additional lighting, installing an air bubble tub etc. Sub-contractors showed up on time every day, very clean, cleaned up everything. The tile work was somewhat intricate and it was done perfectly. We also had a custom vanity and shower door made and Greg's assistance with ensuring we had the right measurements was spot on. My husband noticed a problem with the soaker tub, called Greg and Susan, no problem. They immediately ordered and picked up the replacement tub. The price may seem high but I had two additional bids close to the same price for less work.
Description of Work: Complete gut of a main bathroom however, it did not require any relo of plumbing. Installed new installation, tile, toilet, custom vanity and shower door, accessories, added additional lighting.
My wife and I initially hired Gregg and his team to gut and upgrade our kitchen. We had met with many local contractors and were impressed with the overall professionalism of ACR. We knew that Gregg would be hands on throughout the process - and he had long list of referrals that he invited me to check out. We were not disappointed. The work was done on time and actually came in a few hundred dollars UNDER budget! How often does that happen! A kitchen remodel can be a traumatic experience if you have to live thru it each day. ACR really minimized the negative. Each day, the job site was cleaned and there was virtually zero spillover of mess into the rest of our house. More importantly the work done was first class. Every detail was attended to - from talking us out of our initial cabinet choice (thanks!) to helping us pick the right knobs and handles. He chose top notch materials and the workmanship was exactly what you'd expect from a pro. We were so impressed with our experience we hired Gregg and Absolute Construction and Remodeling for our basement remodel 6 months later. Again - we were not disappointed. Gregg turned our dirty, unfinished basement full of old boxes into a fully functional space - complete with entertainment center, full bar and a bathroom. The basement has become one of the busiest areas of our home. We wonder how we ever functioned without it. We have recommended Gregg to a number of friends and will continue to do so.

Wanted to get bathroom remodeled. Received 3 quotes from 3 contractors. Absolute was the only one that did a complete gut of the bathroom, reconfigured/added all electrical, repositioned the toilet and drains. All sub-contractors very, very professional, cleaned everything up, prompt and trustworthy. Gregg and Susan worked with us to ensure we were completely satisfied. Kept us informed of any delays or changes that needed to be made.We are extremely pleased with the results and we are using the company for our 2nd bathroom.
