Our ventless gas fireplace decided to act up a few days before Christmas. A Capital was able to come out that evening to fix the issue. It ended up being a relatively easy fix since a fitting just needed to be tightened. However, this fitting was leaking gas when the fireplace was operating and wasn't about to take any chances troubleshooting this myself. The thermocouple wire was also partly burned, so A Capital was able to evaluate the extent of that damage and make repairs. He also noted the fan was improperly installed and was able to make some adjustments to the fan to improve the overall function of the fireplace. Overall, I was very happy with the experience. My one complaint is that they didn't have all of the tools they needed; however this was more of an emergency call so lending a couple of tools to get the job done was not a problem, especially since it was the holidays.
Description of Work: Repaired gas fireplace.

What can I say? Dave Barnhart rocks. Dave is a local business (located between Irwin and Greensburg on State Route 30). This is my second review on Dave. The first review I posted was in regard to Dave's help in getting my insurance company to cover my roof for hail damage. I had the roof inspected a year prior with some storm chasing roofer taking the insurance adjuster up on the roof. The insurance allowed for some minor flashing repair and that was all. About a year later on a whim I saw one of Dave's signs that suggested a "second look." A few days later Dave was up on the roof with the same adjuster and the insurance company covered an $18,000 roof. Without Dave I would have been replacing a roof years earlier than I should have and at my own expense. Instead I now have a brand new (free) roof and it's fantastic. Don't take my word for it. Instead I had another company come out and inspect the roof personally. He was 100% thumbs up on the work. I routinely use him on my residential and commercial inspections. I wouldn't know what to look for but I can assure you that he does. Dave and his crew do good work. In my case Dave's son Kurt (KSL Roofing) did our work. I would trust Dave and Kurt with any job. A+++++++ A closing note. I noticed one person gave Dave a "C." Make sure and check out this review (Dave responded). As you look at this person's review (and any others) take a close look at the "Histogram" of the member's reviews. This is a link in a box to the right of the reviews. Click this link and see how many negative and positive reviews the person gave. In this person's case in her entire history (about a year and a half) on Angie's List she has given only one review and it was a negative on Dave. This person clearly signed up on Angie's List to punish Dave and for something he likely had nothing to do with. When people fail to look up some of the vendors that have done good work for them and give a positive review, they are not being good Angie's List community members. Both vendors and customers benefit when we get out there and make sure to talk about the good as well as the bad. People that sign up just to post a negative review are most likely not worth listening to.

I had a leak near my chimney somewhere and no one could find it or fix it. I believe Dave really did find the problem and fixed it for me for a very reasonable price.

I have been trying for my Company on a quick reponse for my customers. I did not expect for a hail storm to come through where I have been doing business for over 20 years. Serving over 2200 customers since march of 2011 hail storm. Was it worth the wait? I hope so. It did take longer than expected if you have any issues please I want to know. My chimney shop is moving up on jacktown hill on route 30 in Irwin. Our store will be relocating in may 2013 stop in and see us. Water was entering the customers chimney I went out on a Friday night in the dark and made a custom cover. Thank you so much for a great review. David Barnhart Owner.

Dave the owner arrived early with his crew and completed my roof in one 12 hour day. I have no issue with the roof or materials. My back gutter has leaked between the roof and the gutter ever since the roof was done. I had another business look at the gutter and was told it needed calked. Dave stated he came out twice and " cleaned out my gutters?" I apparently was not home either time. The bigger issue I have is that Dave promised me a 5% rebate on any referral I got for him. He got a referral from us, did the job and I have yet to see my 5% rebate. I have emailed Dave many times, have been told the referral job was; not completed yet, that Dave was really busy and that I should be gratefull he gave me such a great deal on my job. It has now been a full year and nothing is resolved, Dave is a very likable, outgoing guy but has not kept his word. I would not hire him again.

I have been doing my own business for over twenty years. Helping people not only for their trust to have me at their property working. Yes I am a sweet talker but I mean everthing I say. This homeowner is mad about her back gutter. I did the roof and never put a ladder on the rear gutter I place all ladders on the front gutter with 6 inch foam between ladder and gutter as I always do. I run my starter shingle1 inch over the gutter. Ice and water is always applied first. Even though Member emailed me several different times ( several) I responded fixing the problem.. 1 month plus later I receive a email again from Member bad mouthing my Company that see was placing me on Angies list. Well Angies list anyone can place a review it doesn't always mean its true. I though the job was done and fixed I went out and personally did the repair myself. I can't read minds and never heard back from the customer till I seen this posting on angies list. If anyone would like my email address it chimneycleanman@comcast.net I can explain further. 5% of a job for a Co worker of yours why don't you ask him if he paid me too this day in full. I still have a great lump sum owed to me on this job. When I do get the final payment I will donate it at our church on behalf of your 5%. Once again everyone in the world knows that you can't please everyone... I desirve at least a B rating for everthing I did for you why would you give me a C. I must of did something right I got this customer more money on their hail damage claim. Siding was one of the items that you told me at the end of job that you was just keeping the money. LET BE HONEST HERE.

We had our roof inspected a while back for hail damage and had both the roofing contractor and the Travelers adjuster on the roof. The adjuster approved a small claim for damage to flashing, etc., but denied any further damage. On a whim I had another inspection done by Dave Barnhart from A Capital Roofing (he has a local retail store and has apparently been in business locally for a while). Dave was convinced that the roof should have been covered by insurance. Yesterday I had Dave and the SAME adjuster from Travelers on the roof and the roof was approved for replacement. I think the insurance companies know Dave well and apparently very much respect his oppinion. I know that I for one appreciate Dave's advocacy. If it were not for his diligence we'd be replacing a give or take $18,000 roof on our own.

David got on the roof and measured for a chimney cap. Afterwards he told my wife that we had hail damage to our roof, and showed her pictures that he said he had just taken of our shingles. My wife told him that we had just had our roof replaced the previous month. David said he would e-mail us the pictures he took and left. We have not heard from him since, and received no pictures via e-mail.
Description of Work: We had asked him for an estimate on installing a chimney cap.
