Ron's Roofing

He was friendly but the job was a mess.

These guys are very unprofessional. Large man with very loud voice showed up after we called them to clean our gutters. All he did was yell at his crew and I am sure the surrounding neighbors heard him. I believe 3 men showed up and one went up to "clean out" our gutters. The guys simply went up and was radomly picking up bunches of leaves from the gutters. Never hosed anything out and skipped many spots. The owner, I believe Ron, said he could take care of the chimney also. We had a tree begining to grow and some of the bricks were loose. He said he would do everything for $350. We agreed. Basically they made it look like they were doing something constructive however simply pulled the tree out and did a crappy job on the gutters. We know both of these things not because we got on the roof to check but because trees were not only growing back in the gutters nearly a week or so later but the tree in the chimney was growing again. We had to pull teeth for them to come back out and they simply did the same thing again. DO NOT deal with these people....shady and in need of some anger managment. Unprofessional as they get!

I called Ron's Roofing to check a price for a moisture test. I left a message then called another company. After arranging an appointment with another company, Ron's Roofing returned my call and I explained that another company was coming out to investigate the issue I'm having with the ceiling. Ron's Roofing said that if the I needed them to call and they would come out to check out the problem. I agreed that if it didn't work with the other company, that I would have them come out. A few hours later, I received another call from Ron's Roofing and was told that they were in the area and were free to come look at the roof. Since the other company hadn't yet come, I agreed to have them look at it as well. When they came it was very strange. They were a bit rushed and a somewhat unprofessional. Two men showed up, one was on a ladder looking at the problem from the outside and the other looked at the problem on the inside. After a few minutes, I was told that the flashing was separating from the wall and needed to be re-nailed and caulked and that this was going around the entire section of the roof. Without making any real eye contact, I was told that they could do the job now for $150. Since I was expecting the other company and needed to check into my home warranty, I told them I would have to get back with them. Their reaction to this was like okay, lets get out of here. As they were getting into their truck, the one guy was talking to me while walking away that their work had a 5 year guarantee. Come on now, at least make it look like you want my business and can treat me like a valued customer. I realized that if this is how the company starts on a potential job, that there was no way I was going to actually hire them to do the work, I expect a little more respect than that. To top it off, about an hour later the other company came and explained a different reason for the problem. I was told the flashing was fine, but that there wasn't a ice/water shield. Now I'm like, one problem, two reasons. I'm going to arrange for a third opinion, but the second company at least was more courteous and professional and didn't leave me feeling uneasy unlike Ron's Roofing. My feelings were confirmed, double-checking with Angie's List and I discovered that Ron's Roofing has received a poor ratings all around. Not good.

He came out and assessed the problem, and said that all I needed was some tar where the dormer met the roof. Then after he applied the tar, he said that I needed some shingles and told me that it would cost $250. His ad says $20 for any roof repair, and when I asked him about that, he laughed at me. The repairs didn't work the 1st time, so I called him to come out again, and he came out and didn't charge me and actually repaired the leak that time. I feel like I was taken advantage of with his pricing, and wouldn't use him again or recommend him to others.

HE WENT UP ON THE ROOF AND SLAPPED SOME TAR AROUND THE CHIMNEY WHICH MADE THE PROBLEM WORSE. HIS AD SAYS $20 FIXES THE AVERAGE LEAK, WHICH I NEEDED, BUT THE FIRST THING HE TRIED TO DO WHEN HE GOT HERE WAS SELL ME A CHIMNEY CAP AND NEW FLASHING, WHICH I DON'T NEED.
