 + -1 moreThe line was installed but they won't come back and repair my yard as per the agreement. And they were paid in full while the soil was left to settle. I have now contacted them numerous times and all I get is just lip service. It's been more than five weeks now and my yard looks like a strip mine. I have filed complaints with the BBB. My advice to anyone considering this company is to run the other way as quickly as possible.
Description of Work: Install water line from road to my house and level soil and plant grass from trench.

 + -1 moreThe crew was very nice but they smoked a lot and threw their cigarette butts in my yard in the snow. So I had to clean that up in March when it started to get nice out. They would show up on time most days but seemed to not be prepared to do work on the first couple of days. The worst part about the Don Huey is that they are 10-20 year behind in modern design and construction. They have no idea what is modern they seemed to be trapped in the 1990s with how they design and propose designs and estimates to potential customers. The only way I would use Don Huey again is if they gave a significantly cheaper price than other contractors but I would be very specific about how I would things and how they can described in the estimate. Be careful when dealing with them, read the estimate and scope of work and make sure everything is spelled out or they won't do it. Even if it seems obvious that it is something that should be included in the work make sure it is in the scope otherwise they won't do it.

 + -1 moreDon Huey claims he is insured, and he is. But after damaging my pool and yard he has not returned my phone calls. I have tried numerous times. His secretary was very rude. I would not recommend his services to anyone. He does not stand by his word.

 + -1 moreDon hueys employee ran into my above ground 30x 30 swimming Pool. My neighbor witnessed The employee flipping over his riding lawnmower inti my pool and Continuing to run into it as he was unable to pull it away from the pool. The employer had to be Pulled out of the small hill he flipped over into with a four wheeler. I contacted Mr. Huey 6 times and was told by his secretary That he was aware. Mr. Huey has never contacted me. The damage was estimated at $9,000. Mr Hueys employees Also ruined 4 10 foot tall trees and most of my grass by applying Some type of grass killer. I have pictures. I was not at home and was not notified Until my pool started falling it. I am very upset. Don Huey has never called me back.

 + -1 moreThe team that has been working here have been great. They are all very professional and courteous. Their attitude is that the customer gets what he/she wants no matter what that means the contractors have to do to make it happen. They were also the least expensive bid we received of the five or six we requested. They were one of two contractors who sent us a written estimate. They are very responsive to any questions or concerns we have.
Description of Work: They gutted the upstairs bathroom, removed the old piping, put in new piping from the basement up to the second floor, customized a pocket door using the existing door; rewired the bathroom and installed a heat lamp/fan. They still need to tile the floor and part of the walls and paint the remainder of the walls; install a claw foot tub, toilet, corner sink and medicine cabinet, all of which we supplied.

 + -1 moreWe didn't end up doing the job due to another project that was much more pressing. We would use Don Hue, as we believe they would do good job at a good price but knowing that they may not get back to us as fast as we are used to when dealing with smaller contractors.
Description of Work: It took a couple of weeks for them to come and give an estimate and then about 3 weeks after that to get the estimate to us. They were very professional in looking at the job, with the written estimate and the price was good.

Description of Work: I had my back porch roof and railing replaced. When I called for the estimates I thought they explained everything in the best detail and were the most professional. I had requested three estimates before hiring them. One contractor did not want to get a permit, he just thought he would show up and do the job and nobody would know the difference. He also would not give any details on the price, just a range of maybe 500 to 1200 dollars. I would not do business with someone who does not follow the rules. The other estimate took to long to really be considered. I had received Don Huey's estimate and accepted the job before the 3rd contractor mailed me the estimate, which was slightly higher in price.anyway. They came when they said they would, did the exact repairs that I asked for on the estimate, stuck to the price, and cleaned up everything. When I asked around at work who to hire, two different people told me not to hire this contractor, but I think they were wrong. I actually made some additions to the original estimate before they started the job with no problem. My back porch is small and was in really bad shape. They tore off the entire roof and had to attach the new roof to the house. It has held up great over the winter and I am ready to stain it this summer. I have some small jobs that I need done this summer and I will probably just call them again.

 + 4 moreI worked for my father who was a contractor for a number of years and know how to do most of the work that Don Huey does for me, but the reason I hire them is that I really cannot do the work myself for less than they can do it so it makes sense to have them do it. Their estimates are always lower than others, and they do very nice work. The aluminum work they did on my front porch was as good as I have ever seen, the siding they put on my house was applied very neatly, the shingles are on nice and straight, the plaster work they did inside my house is beautiful. All the little details that other contractors ignore, these guys pay attention to. I had a small leak develop along my chimney after the new roof went on, Don had men over here fixing it for free without delay.
Description of Work: New siding on the house, new roof, new front porch, completely remodeled family room.
