Description of Work: Immediately knew the problem and corrected it by taking dryer apart and removing a small piece of clothing that somehow got in and jammed the belt pulley at the motor. Poor design of the dryer allows clothing to get into the motor area when cleaning the filter. Was paid for with extended warranty we had purchased. Bakers is the factory service company for the manufacturer.

Description of Work: Service was performed on the ice maker in our Frigidaire refrigerator. We have had multiple problems with the ice maker in this device since we purchased the refrigerator. These issues are apparently known to Frigidaire and they have removed the model from the market but will not replace our refrigerator. Baker's Appliance Repair has been very good at addressing the issues as they have arisen but the appliance itself is a lemon and Frigidaire will not acknowledge or address the issue.

Description of Work: Communication from this contractor is absolutely deplorable. I have called them to make the same repairs 5 times and have asked that they communicate with me regarding what is wrong with this unit, but they refuse to communicate with me whether it is a manufacturer defect or operator issue.

This was a warranty repair The door pops open. This was an installation problem not a defect. We could have charged customer but did not. We should not have been given an F we should have been given a thank you.

Description of Work: This company was given to me by Frigidaire as one of three companies that could perform a warranty repair of our Frigidaire window air conditioner. When I called them, they said they didn't do the type of repair (the condenser unit had to be replaced due to a ruptured coiling coil).

My husband and I took a pet the dishwasher ourselves and cleaned out the trap. Now it works fine. It took us a little over an hour. I call Bakers to ask why the tech hadn't even opened up the machine to see what was wrong. I was told they would look into it and call me back. And they haven't called me back. So I feel that this review is fair.
Description of Work: Looked inside dishwasher and said that the blade on th disposal was probably broken and that we would need either a new motor or new dishwasher. He then gave me a quote on a new motor . $369. The $85 for the visit could be applied to this.

The repair service showed up on time last week to diagnose the problem with the dryer, ordered the parts while still on site, and returned on 4/29 (on time) to complete the repair. They were prompt in diagnosing the problem, in ordering the parts, and in completing the repair, on time and on schedule. I have used them in the past and would definitely use them in the future.

Turns out all it needed was to be cleaned of the grease on front panel.
Description of Work: They told me the reason my Thermador vent was not rising was because it needed a new motor. They replaced it and it never worked.

The last repair for this customer was completed 11/19/2009 not March 2012. The repair was not $600 it was $365 +tax. We replaced the motor on a Thermadore Down draft. We were requested a few days after the initial repair to recheck, we did and at that time cleared excess grease from air switch. ( no additional charge ) Our records do not show any service calls to this customer after November 2009

They were fine. They came here relatively quickly. He opened the part and he noticed that the part was defective and said that he needed another part and would call me when the part came in and he called the day he got the part. I would say that they were excellent in their service.

I went to the condo to check that the dryer vent was operating and found no issues, it worked fine. I told the tennant to call Baker's back and they came out again waiving the original fee. They discovered that the thermostat in the dryer was not functioning properly and they had to order the part. When the part was in, I scheduled to have them come out. They were going to come out between 11 and 2 which I confirmed the night before and asked that they call 30 minutes before so I could arrange to drive over. I spoke with the secretary at 11 and when I asked for an approx. time, she proceeded to tell me that they would be there between 11-2. At 1:45, since I hadn't heard from anyone, I called and wanted to make sure that someone was still coming out. She said they were and she knew this because someone had stopped in earlier and picked up the part. At 2:30 I called and asked when they would be there. She said that they were looking for the part and she would call as soon as they ound it. This confused me because someone had come by and picked it up earlier. When I stated that she just said that they had to find the part. I called again at 3:00, she said they still hadn't found the part. I asked to speak to the owner, she said he was on the other line but would call me back. He never did. At 3:30 she called me and said that they would have to order the part because they couldn't find it. I cancelled the appointment and am calling another appliance repair company.
Description of Work: My tennants had a problem with the dryer and I advised them to call an appliance repair company. Baker's came out and the service tech said that he couldn't find anything wrong with it and that the vent was probably obstructed causing the dryer to overheat and shutdown. They charged $75 to come out with the expectation that if the problem was identified they would deduct that fee from the total bill to repair it.

We are sorry that [member name removed] had a negative experience with our company. We value our customers and their time. We do our best to be prompt on the day of an appointment. Unfortunately on the day of this repair the part, a thermostat ( very small ) was misplaced by the technician, he could not find it on his truck and assumed it was left in the office that morning. The technician returned to the office searched but came up empty. The local parts distributors did not have the part our only recourse was to re order another thermostat and reschedule ASAP. This was not acceptable for the customer so he canceled without giving us a chance to rectify this unfortunate incident. I am saddened that this experience prompted [member name removed] gave us an F for all categories listed. Not a review we ever wan our customer to be compelled to write. We did try to complete this repair on the day promised. Bottom line we failed.

Description of Work: Our 12 year old diswasher stopped working during the week prior to New Years Day. We had a label on the machine from a prior visit by Baker's Appliance Repair some years ago. We decided to try them again. We called on 12/26/2012 and were able to get a promise of service on 1/3/2012. However, they called and rescheduled for the next day, 12/4/2013 between 8-10. The serviceman arrived at 10 AM. He quickly got to work and examined our machine. The verdict was that it would cost $400-500 US to repair it, and we were best advised to purchase a new machine rather than have him repair it. We appreciated his honesty, and sent him on his way with his $100.00 house call fee. We are now searching for a new machine to replace the worn out BOSCH. Overall, the experiece was good. The only thing negative is that they were a bit slow to make the house call.

I think Bakers should have called me right away to let me know they were not going to service my dryer and it was my job to call the Warranty Company back to get someone else to fix the dryer.
Description of Work: Absolutely none. I contacted my warranty company who sent out a service repair man who told me he had to order the part from the manufacturer. Two weeks went by and I still did not have the part for my dryer. I then received a call from another appliance dealer called A&E. I asked them if they had the part my dryer needed. This company had no Knowledge of the repair part or the previous visit. I called Bakers back and asked them where was the part for my dryer and she told me that it was never ordered and that my warranty company was suppose to call me and tell me this. Well they never called to tell me the part was not ordered and in the process I lost 2 1/2 weeks of dryer use. I am now scheduled for a visit from A&E in two days and most likely will have to wait another two weeks or longer to get the required part for my dryer.

After calling two companies that are highly rated on Angie's list and being quoted around $400 and $545 to fix our icemaker I had all but given up and assumed we would live without an I maker until we replaced our refrigerator. I notice a number on the sticker inside the refrigerator and decided to call because the prices I was quoted seemed far to high. The manufacturers phone system recommended Bakers. I called and was quoted $249 over the phone to replace the water valve and icemaker. They ordered the parts and called the next week and arrived on time the next day and fixed it of or the exact amount quoted.

My first appointment was June 9, which was probably the week after I called. The assessment at that point was that the appliance has a blown fuse, which needed to be ordered. Said they would call when the fuse is in and when they can have two service persons come out because the built-in appliance was too heavy to be removed and worked on by one person. My next appointment was set for June 27 in the morning. That morning, prior to the appointed time I was out in the garden in the back of the house doing yard work while it was still cool. I was within sight of my driveway but was paying more attention to the shrubbery than the driveway. But I made sure I had my house phone with me to not miss any calls. I went back into the house by the start of the time period I was given. About 15 minutes after the end of the specified time frame I called the company and was told that the service persons were there in the morning, no one answered the door and they left! I asked them why they did not call the house in case I was not able to hear the door bell. I was told that they called the house three times, which I know to be not true since I have call waiting and caller ID and the phone did not ring once while I was out and did not show any missed calls! I had no choice but to schedule another appointment which was not until 7/12/11. This morning they arrived at the house 15 minutes before they were supposed to. They did get the appliance fixed but it took one and a half months for the whole process. If you use this company, you need to be home at least 15 minutes prior to the appointed time and make sure they have your correct house and possibly cell phone number. Make sure if no one answer the door (which they said they knocked instead of pushing the door bell, duh!), that they call the house. Hope the appliance does not break anytime soon. Not sure if I would use them again. Too aggravating.
Description of Work: My Electrolux Icon microwave/speed oven was not working. I have an extended warranty for the unit. Called and got an authorization number from the manufacturer for the repair. The extended warranty service gave me three repair services in my area that are authorized repair companies. The only one with any kind of mention on Angie's List was Baker's Appliance Repair. The review was positive, so I decided to give them a go.

I was called yesterday to say that the parts had come in and would I be available today? They came out during the timeframe mentioned and the man couldn't have been more polite and more respectful. He replaced the necessary parts and my washer is now working great. And I didn't have to pay anything as the washer was still under warranty. I was very pleased with their service and would recommend them highly.
Description of Work: My Frigidaire washer had a problem with the door. I was referred to Baker's by Frigidaire's customer service. Baker's came out promptly, diagnosed the problem and said they would order the necessary parts. They said it would be approxiately 10-14 days to get the parts.
