Classic scam. Salesman shared his extensive knowledge about windows, then did a a hard sell that included bashing competitors. Pushed us to sign or we’d lose out. We didn’t sign. The cost was astronomical—triple the cost of what Andersen windows actually cost! $1500/ window! Then he wanted to sign us up for a “low” rate financing deal—9.9%! When I said I could get 0% on my own, he acted shocked and skeptical. When I asked about Andersen’s vinyl windows, he said Andersen doesn’t make vinyl anymore, only more expensive composite windows. I called Andersen after salesman left. Guess what! Andersen does sell vinyl windows. Stay away from this company and protect your grandparents from them!

We agreed to pay an additional $700 to have the casing replaced on two windows. Acre did not replace the casing. When we demanded a refund, they gave is the runaround and eventually stopped returning our calls. After they installed the windows and we called them to talk about the casing, they sent someone to inspect it. The person they send out agreed they hadn't done any casing and we were owed a refund. We waited 3 weeks for them to return our calls before calling them again. They stated that we had paid $700 for casing on 7 windows and they had only failed to do 2, so we were only owed $200. I insisted that they hadn't done casing on any windows and that we hadn't asked them to do casing on any others. They sent someone to inspect the house and determine if casing had been done on other windows. It had not. They agreed to do it rather than issue a refund, and sent someone out to do it. The person they sent out said it couldn't be done because there was an outlet in one of the cases. (whoever installed the original casing obviously didn't have this problem) We called to get our refund they still owe us. They said they'd call us back and then never did. Also, when they completed the initial installation of the 7 windows, there were nails sticking out all over the place. There's no excuse for that. They fixed it on a follow-up visit. Lastly, after the initial installation, two of the windows were almost impossible to lock. They said we needed to let them sit in a locked position for two weeks for the seals to harden and then they'd lock easily. We've let them sit for many weeks and they're still very difficult to lock. I don't know if this is a defect with Anderson Windows or if it's due to improper installation.
Description of Work: We had 7 windows replaced. We paid for but did not receive casing on two windows.

This is the classic, YOU NEED TO SIGN NOW, scam. They come in talk to you and try to "teach you". Works great for the uninformed but I had historic windows ground out of stone, completely releaded by trained master artists with historic glass made to replace the broken pieces and then installed and had custom protection glass made for the inside so my children wouldn't touch the lead and it cost less then what they were quoting per window. I'm quite certain I could have a real craftsmen come in and fix or replace windows way cheaper. Oh and the salesman talked about his carpentry background so I looked him up when he left.... BA in marketing....

The installation crew did a fantastic job. They were very conscientious, very considerate and they knew what they were doing and they got it done fairly quickly. The price is a bit expensive but I got a good deal.
Description of Work: I used the services of Acre Windows. I had all my windows replaced and my doors replaced. The windows are Anderson replacement windows with double pane and double hang windows.

The representative started out in a professional manner. Explained the features of the Anderson door and impressed us with the quality. Then came the installed price.... this and quot;bottom line priceand quot; was double the next highest estimate. Although shocked by the price, we had not ruled them out. We told the representative that we were still shopping, wanted to visit their showroom to see similar products they had on display, and had two other appointments scheduled over the next few days that we wanted to hear before we made a decision. Then came the hard sell. The representative mentioned that the estimate was good for a year, but if we ordered at this time there would be a significant incentive. He wouldn't tell us what it was because we were not ordering. Hence, his bottom line was not the bottom line. What was especially upsetting was that when I called for the appointment and was told that all home owners had to be present for the presentation (which made me suspect.) I specifically told them that I did not want a presentation which would provide an inflated estimate and the be offered a and quot;sign today discount.and quot; They assured me that that was not their approach but that they wanted all owners present for their protection. Yet ,that is exact approach they took.

We had a terrible experience with ACRE Windows. The sales person that came to our house was very nice, but had a pretty typical "in-home" sales pitch. He showed us lots of doors that were WAY out of our price range and eventually worked with us to find a door in a comfortable price range for us. It was all down hill from there though ... We were told that we could have the door installed in about 2-3 weeks. The day after signing the contract, someone called me to set up a measurement appointment. I explained to them that we needed someone to come before 8 AM or after 6 PM as both my husband and I work full time. They acted as if this was nearly impossible, but eventually settled on an 8 AM appointment a few days later. The morning of that appointment, my husband stayed home to wait for the measurement guy to arrive. No one showed up. Upon calling ACRE to find out where he was, they told us that they needed to cancel the measurement because of the weather (there was some snow that morning, but not a lot). They said they called and left us a message but neither me or my husband recieved a call. So now my husband is late for work and we still haven't been measured. We rescheduled for a few days later at 8 AM. This time I stayed home for the measurement and as of 8:30 no one had arrived. So we called again only for them to tell us that the measurement guy was stuck in traffic. He didn't arrive until 8:45 and took all of 5 minutes to measure the front door. Now I'm late for work. In both of those situations, we should never have had to call them. They should have been proactively reaching out to US to inform us of their delays. Later that morning my husband then spoke at length with the GM of ACRE. He ensured us that he would personally make sure everything was taken care of from here out and that he'd be in touch by the end of the day with an update on when our door would arrive from the manufacturer and could be installed. Of course, we didn't hear from him that day and had to follow up the next day to get the status. I also tried to reach my sales person to explain the situation, but he never returned any of my calls. THIS COMPANY LIES AND DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE!!!!!!!! I tried to cancel my order at this point, but because it took so long to get to this point my window for cancellation had expired according to the contract I signed. The door eventually arrived, about 3 weeks after ordering it and about 4 weeks after our initial visit from our sales person. The GM told me they had a cancellation for an install the following day and that they could install it then, but if that wasn't a good time then we'd have to wait another 3-4 weeks to get an install date. So my husband had to take a vacation day from work to be home for the install. The install went smoothly and the doors looks nice (which is the only reason they get a D and not an F for overall experience). The installers were fine, although they put brass hinges on a door with brushed nickle accessories. They said they would tell their boss and someone would contact me to come back out and fix them, but SURPRISE no one ever called. I gave up fighting them and we're living with brass hinges. I have a 22 year old house that needs all new windows and a new 9 ft sliding glass door. We were excited originally at the thought of having a good company to meet our future needs, but we will NEVER deal with this company again. They have lost $10k+ of future business due to their bad customer service, poor communication, and lies.

We greatly regret that the customer had a bad experience in terms of communication. Thankfully, the client was pleased with the quality of the work and the product itself. We will reach out to the customer and provide replacement hinges at no additional cost. Unfortunately, in this case the mistake we made was not making sure the customer knew that the lead time was 3-4 weeks. We also should have informed the customer that our policy is NOT to work in the snow, even if the accumulation is relatively minor, to insure the safety of our workers and our customers homes. Even though this customer's experience is atypical, we have worked internally to correct any communication issues. We greatly appreciate the customer being honest about the quality of workmanship despite being unhappy with the level of communication.

When the rep came out to the home, we told him that we just wanted a quote for the price of the windows. We didn't need a complete demonstration of how a window is made...etc... Well in the end, we got the whole demonstration. He measured all the windows that needed to be addressed. He keyed the information into his iPad and then he had a nice little display screen where he showed us that the price to fix the windows (REMEMBER, THIS IS FIX 7 WINDOWS and REPLACE 2 BASEMENT WINDOWS), the price was $10,500.00!!! Once he saw our faces at the price, he said, "well wait, there is a special going on." This took $1,500.00 the price. So it brought it down to $9000.00! I asked him for a individual window cost breakdown and he told me that he could not do that. He just keys the info into the iPad and it gives him a price. What kind of window salesman doesn't know the price of his windows? I proceded to tell him that he is crazy to be asking that much to use a replacement kit on the window and not replace the entire window. I told him that all I need is the lower sashes and that there are basically 6-8 screws holding that sash in and they are easily replaced. Then he proceed to say, well you have to rememeber, these are Andersen windows. ?? Really? Well, my Andersens are rotting...all in the same spot....hmmm....Andersen design flaw? I think so.... I told him that Andersen's #1 competitor quoted me a price of $1000 to replace the WHOLE window, not just a replacement kit!!!
Description of Work: The company came out to give me a quote to have 4 Andersen window sashes replaced (since the quality Andersen windows are rotting!!!) . In the end, we asked for a price for 7 window kits to be used (basically they just replace the upper and lower sashes) and 2 basement window replaced.

Sales person only showed us 1 window.. supervisor came by 2 days later and was the rudest person you could have in the room. Basically talked down to us, made it look like he was doing us a favor by installing the windows (at double the cost of competitors). Trying to tout how superior his window was and how we would make money in the end but with others we would lose money.. if that's the sales pitch fine, they should learn to respect their prospective customers. After being talked down to for about 30 minutes, we asked him to just leave.

This was an awful experience. We signed a contract and then the next day cancelled because we received an estimate for nearly $2000 less for nicer new construction Anderson windows. We were allowed 3 days to cancel as per our contract and the company never disputed this. By the time we cancelled the next day, they had already cashed the check for our $4500 deposit. It took nearly 5 weeks for them to send us back our deposit. We made several calls and left many messages and never once received a call back. On the rare occassion that we did get someone on the phone twice they promised that the check was in the mail and it never arrived. The third time they promised the check to us we finally received it. Like I said, this was almost 5 weeks after we cancelled the contract. I was shocked how disorganized and unprofessional ACRE Windows was!
Description of Work: We were looking to have 10 windows replaced. The estimate was $7500 for Harvey Windows.

Initially you see the sales person who shows the windows, tells you about the company and puts in the orders. Then someone else contacts you to schedule someone to come out and do the measurements to order the windows. After that you will have a representative come and do a final measurement before they come out to put them in. We made some changes in the process to the kind of pattern and they accomidated that. Then when they brought everything to put them in with about 6 guys they had me look over the product to see if everything was ok. We had ordered full screens but the came with half screens which I actually like better so they compansated us for the cost. Then the front door side lites came in wrong and ordered them in to exchange them out with out any problem. Payment was in 3rds one at order time, start of project and end of project.

The shields in my windows broke and the windows were not looking very good and so I needed to find someone to replace the windows. They did excellent job and explained everything and what they would do if they come in to replace them. We are very confident in what he said. I would use them again.

It was a long presentation and it took up my whole evening. At the end of the presentation they gave us a quote and gave some discounts. In order to get the discounts the contract had to be signed right away. My overall experience with them was poor.

The overall workmanship and attitude of the installers was excellent. The product was beautiful and we?re very happy with the end result. The positive news about Acre ends here. We ordered our door on 3/10 and didn?t receive a follow-up for a few days so we gave them a call. Our first phone query went with no response for two weeks, at which point we called to follow-up. A week after that, we received an email that only stated the overall price of the doors, not a breakdown of materials, labor or installation process. Needless to say, we had additional questions. In the meantime, our credit card was promptly charged for the full deposit amount. We made it clear that a measurement would not be scheduled until our outstanding questions were addressed. Once the indication that payment would be delayed was clear, these questions were answered within 24 hours. The person that performed the measurement advised that a catalog would be sent to us to select the hardware we wanted. When two more weeks went by without the arrival of a catalog, we placed another call to Acre. I was told I would receive a response the same day. When no response or catalog was received that day, we placed ANOTHER call to Acre the next day. They said they would put the catalog in the mail to us the following day (more than two weeks after it was promised). At this point, we were quite frustrated; considering the catalog should have been sent nearly three weeks prior to this point. This complete lack of timely customer service resulted in an over 3 week delay in our installation date. The installation timing was another fiasco. We established an install date a month ahead of time, based on the date of product delivery to Acre. The day before the install, we were informed that the front door had not yet been received. They offered to keep the original appointment for the back door install, but would need to return the following week for the front door install. Despite this inconvenience, we agreed to accommodate both dates. On the day of the install, we were told that the back door was ?damaged? and that they wouldn?t be able to install the back door either. At this point, it is unclear as to why this information was not shared with us prior to the install date. Had we known about the ?damaged? material we could have saved ourselves some hassle. When the crew arrived to install both doors, it was determined that the front door opening had been measured incorrectly. As a result of this error, the crew had to schedule ANOTHER day since the work would take a full day as opposed to the half day they had scheduled. Finally, it is worth mentioning that it was during the installation that we realized that the doors were not Anderson brand, but Therma-Tru. This was never clarified during the initial estimate or communicated in the numerous queries posed to Acre.In general, Acre lacks the communication skills to manage customer expectations and is very haphazard in managing their business. This company displayed the worst customer service we?ve ever experienced. We felt manipulated and ignored during this entire process. Needless to say, we will not recommend or use this company again.

The company did a good job. There were some communication issues in the beginning between the original person who gave the estimate and the person who came to do the work but we got that cleared up relatively quickly. They did a quality job. Once the parts arrived, everything went well. I had to ask them to come back to fix something and they got it done. They were neat and clean.
Description of Work: They replaced a huge window in the front of my house that was a specialty size. It was 4 windows that make 1 window. I had stained glass inserts made for the inside of window so it was a big job.
