Specialty Window and Door

I contacted Specialty Window and Door in February 2014 to inquire about replacing the windows in my house, which were the original windows from when the house was built in 1950. I had had two different people recommend this company to me. Based on these recommendations, and the good reviews I read on Angie's List, I decided to call. The owner, Rick Fish, returned my call promptly and I set an appointment for the following week for him to come out and give an estimate. Rick showed up on time and gave me a demo of a sample window, explained all of its features and selling points, explained everything about his business and experience, and then measured all of my windows and provided an estimate. I really cannot say enough good things about what it was like to deal with Rick. He is one of the nicest salespeople I've ever dealt with. He is courteous, personable, direct, honest, and very low pressure. He wants you to be satisfied and does not give you the hard sell. He just tells you the information you need and tells it like it is and lets you decide for yourself. I called Rick back a couple of days later and told him that I was pleased with the estimate and we scheduled another appointment for him to come out and take final measurements for the windows. Rick also explained financing options and connected me with a finance company that quickly and easily processed my application and approved me for financing. Once the financing was approved, Rick took his measurements and gave me an estimate on the lead time for installation. He was dead on with his estimate. Because it was winter time, it only took 3 weeks for all my windows to be manufactured and ready for installation (my understanding from Rick was that it would be 6-8 weeks in the high summer season). The installers called me to schedule installation, which took 2 days. They arrived on the first day exactly on time and got half the windows installed the first day and finshed the job the second day. The installers were excellent. They were nice, didn't mind me being nosy and watching what they were up to every now and then. They even cleaned up after themselves and hauled away all my old windows. The end result is that my 1950 house now has all new windows and looks amazing! I truly cannot say enough good things about this company and the way it all worked out. This was perhaps the best home renovation/remodeling experience I've had in my 15 years owning several homes. I would not hesitate to use Specialty Window and Door again and recommend them without reservation. You will be very happy with the professionalism and the end result.

I couldn't be happier, my windows are beautiful. My neighbors have commented on how great they look, and I have even given tours. Rick had knowledgeable suggestions (which I needed) and there was never any pressure. He also has a sense of humor, which is always a bonus. The installers where friendly, efficient, and neat. When they left all debris and dirt was gone. One of the installers even scraped and patched a large area under one window where I had some water damage. I didn't expect that, he was just being nice. I have scheduled additional work with Rick. Next week they're replacing old metal supports that are holding up a roof over my front door with columns. It was a total pleasure working with Rick & his crew and I would recommend them to everyone.

Rick was very professional when he came to house for estimate. No pressure and easy to talk and explain what we wanted. Had 3 estimates, his windows were the best and price was good. Windows were installed 3 weeks later. The 2 men who installed them were very professional and the job done was perfect. I am very happy and pleased with the windows. They are exactly what I wanted. The construction of the windows are very well built. I would highly recommend this company and would have them again.

I cannot say enough good things about Rick and his products. I needed windows desperately and wanted to get the best price and product. I had gotten 13 bids from different companies and I chose Ricks product for various important reasons. He is patient, very knowledgable, humble, has impeccable customer service. The products speak for themselves and for what I was looking for he had the best product hands down. You can find "cheaper" windows but make sure you know what your getting for your money. I will recommend them to everyone...no need to waste your time looking anywhere else, I already did that.

Specialty Window and Door was great. I had a large living room window replaced with a double hung window, a dining room window replaced with a slider window, and a custom storm door made for the back door. The guys were great. They called to schedule an installation date, but I had to delay the installation by a week because of work related reasons. They were understanding about it. They called me back in a week as he said he would and scheduled a date for the installation. They were here on time and it took about 2 1/2 hours. There was no mess left behind. They were very polite and professional. |The price was reasonable and affordable. There was no pressure from Rick to do business with his company. I got a written quote for what I wanted done. In all, from the time Rick came to do measurements and give a quote to the installation, it took about six weeks. To me, that was great timing. I will be using Specialty Window and Door again in the up coming Spring for some more updates to my house. I do recommend them!!!

We are waiting for the glass to come in and they will be doing the work. We like the owners, they are very good.

Owner: Rick Fish, and the installers did an excellent job, I would use them again. Mr. Fish is both knowledgable and low pressure. I sought bids and information from four highly rated replacement window specialists, and greatly appreciated the perspective Mr. Fish brought to the discussion. He helped me get comfortable with the vinyl product, by presenting facts and comparative information. I was reluctant to install vinyl windows on my tudor home, am now grateful for and satifiied with the recmmended color and styles. Specialty windows claims to do so many windows locally, they enjoy preferred pricing from their supplier. Their quote matched that of a competetor, but the quality of the windows was far superior. The installers, who are independent contractors working exclusively for Specialty Windows, were efficient and skilled. They arrived on time, went to work immediately, tolerated the occasional questions and even worked around me as I made repairs to marble sills, between the removal of the original windows and installation of the replacement product. All cuts on the exterior flashing were within close tolerance, the caulking flawless. The crew cleaned up well before leaving. My home was immediately cooler follwing installation - a result of the high efficiency glass. I consider myself the recipient of very good value for my construction dollars.

Was impressed right from the start. Didn't even bother getting multiple estimates like I usually do. First of all, no hard sell!! Those are a huge turn off to me. He let the products speak for themselves. Price came in several thousand less than anticipated. All installation was done in two days - one day less than first quoted. Also checked out with the BBB and is registered with the Attorney General's Office. Door and windows were original to the house, approximately 32 years old. Rick is very friendly and easy to talk to. His brother is just as nice. Wasn't home for any of the installation, but was so pleased to pull in the driveway and see those beautiful windows and door! Also, went the extra mile by installing the wireless doorbell I had purchased to replace the broken one I had. They didn't have to do that, but being a single woman, it was appreciated very much. If you are looking to install replacement windows and/or doors, CALL THEM!! You won't be disappointed. I sure wasn't.

They were very good. We had no problem. They did a very good job. They sold good products. They did a very good job installing the windows and doors. They were just good all the away around. I have no complaints. We probably used them twice. They did the doors first and then we called them back for the windows. I like their quality of work and promptness. They were honest just like they promise anything is done. If he said he would be here, he was. He didn't come and go during the job. They stayed for the whole job. The windows I think took a couple of days. The doors he did in two days or so. There was one window that had a minor problem and he took care of it right away. He got a new one made from the manufacturer and brought it over and installed it with no problems. They give very good service. He is a good guy to deal with too, not an obnoxious salesman.

This is the third time my family has used Rick Fish for window replacement, and the quality and value has remained constant through the years. I am very picky about who I let into my home to do any work and I trust Rick and his crew 100%. Quality replacement windows that work well and the caulk sealing work by his installer is amazing. His prices are well below the local competition, we had 3 competing bids and he saved us about $2,500.00 over the other guys. Highly recommended.

They were half the price of four other estimates, and there were no hidden fees or extra costs. They were on time exactly when they said they would be. I recommended them to a neighbor, and she had the same experience.

The comopany responded quickly to my initial email and promptly scheduled an estimarte. As soon as the parts came in, the installer contacted me and made arrangements to get started. Depsite some weather-related delays, the installation team did all it could to complete the job as quickly as possible. The finished product is very high quality, and what impressed me most was the pride the installer took in his work. It was a little on the expensive side, but as they say, you get what you pay for,

We are so happy with the work Specialty completed in our home. The inital quote for this job was provided by Rick Fish to the previous owners of our home as terms to our purchase of the home. The old windows in our house were, well, old...very old! After speaking to Rick over the phone about the written quote we received from the previous owners, Rick came out to our old home to talk me through the contract and show me a window. He actually brought a sample window with him! It was great to get to see all the bells and whistles he promised in person. Rick is so kind, professional and accomodating. It is clear that he loves his job and he is obvioulsy good at it. He answered all of my questions and always called to follow-up after every step in the process. Once the work began at our house, Rick actually stopped by to make sure everything was going well, that his installers were okay and didn't have any questions, and that I was happy with the progress. The installers were terrific...punctual and super professional. They were very efficient and polite getting a ton of work done each day they were at the house and cleaning up so well behind themselves you could barely tell they'd been there...but for the gorgeous new windows, of course! Our "new" home is 50 years old and please believe me when I tell you that these new windows make it look like a brand new house. Great work guys...thanks for everything!

He came out and was very pleasant. I had trouble with a window that wouldn't lock. He offered to help fix it for me until the new window arrived. He didn't even want a down payment. He was good and pleasant and I liked him a lot.

Excellent job; Rick Fish gave us the estimate and we chose Specialty Windows over 2 other companies even though they weren't the lowest bid. They came as scheduled, replaced the windows and left the work areas cleaner than when they arrived. The windows are good quality and we have already ordered 4 more replacement windows.

They responded quickly, were on time, and did what they said they were going to do. They also cleaned up after themselves. They did a good job, but the windows are just difficult to clean.

We met Rick at a Home Show. He followed up. The entire experience from beginning to end was professional and warm. He was ready with references that we took advantage of. His men did a great job.

Everything was wonderful. They came when they said they would. If they could not make it, they would call and let us know. They did all around good work.
