The hot water heater in my mobile home began to leak badly. I called several local plumbing companies and Eagle was the only one to reply the day I called. Their workers arrived in a couple of hours (they are only two miles from my home) and agreed I needed a new hot water heater. They measured the old tank and wrote down its specifications and left. Hours later I received a call from the owner of Eagle Air Dan Mock. Eagle Air Service couldn't buy an appropriate sized gas hot water tank from their suppliers and would have to order one, which would take a week or more! I asked if I could find a tank and purchase it, if they would install. Mr. Mock agreed, however he doubted I could get a tank. Well, the local Sears had one in stock! I drove to the store and paid for the tank, then called Eagle Air and told them it was ready to pick up at the Sears store less than four miles from their office. The next morning, Eagle Airs' crew of two men arriv ed at my home in a beat -up old van. Seems their regular van had engine trouble, so they had to use the spare. This is where the problems start! They cut the piping and removed the old hot water tank which revealed a rotten area of floor under the tank which would need reinforced. The truck they brought didn't have any carpenter tools on it like their regular truck would so I got out my saws, hammers and nails. Next-they didn't have a piece of plywood to use, so they drove back to the shop, returning in about an hour. The wood they brought back was too small, so I cut a piece of my own plywood for them to use. The piping for the hot water tank in my trailer is Pex Plastic and requires compression fittings. As they began installation of the tank, the workers found they didn't have any fitting in the junk van, so they had to drive back to the shop and get fittings which took about an hour. As soon as they began working with the old piping, some split and they needed to replace a three foot long section. Guess what?- none on the junk van, so back to the shop they went for a THIRD time. One of the workers apologized for all the issues and said if they had their normal service van everything would have been on it and they installation would have taken just two hours or so. He wrote an note on his billing slip saying all the tripos to the shop and extra time were caused by having to use the old van without the proper tools and supplies. They estimated my bill to be about $80 in parts (The Sears tank Cost $399 which I paid directly) and three hours labor at $250 or so total. WELL- Mr. Mock rewrote the bill and charged me for the FULL six hours it took including the three trips to the shop PLUS an hour for picking the tank up at Sears and also had the nerve to charge me $50 for plywood!-Wood that I provided!! My installation only bill came to $700 before tax -add the $399 tank and my total was over $1,100. Mr. Mock is a poor excuse for a businessman, charging me because he sent his crew out in a van without any parts or tools! I called one of the repairmen and he said he told Mr. Mock several times all the trrips to the shop and extra hours were because they didn't have their regular service van. Nope-I still had to pay.
