Avoid this company at all costs. If I could give them zero stars I would. We have used them for two years and recently started their automatic delivery. The other day we noticed that the heat wasn’t working in our home while we were away. Look at the tank and it is at 0%. Despite auto refills they failed to come to the house for over two weeks. It was below 50 in our house and we have radiated propane heat, so the pipes are all through the walls. Tried to contact them by phone and email with no response. The owner and this company are so unprofessional and do not take accountability for their mistakes. Never use them.

we purchased a top of the line fireplace log set from them. We purchased the unit from them and paid for them to install it. They were never our gas provider. We chose them because their showroom was local. at exactly 12 months it stopped working. It had a one year complete warranty and a 5 year limited warranty. THEY FLATLY AND ABSOLUTELY REFUSED TO FIX IT BECAUSE WE DID NOT BUY GAS FROM THEM. We were not buying gas from them when they installed it but they took our money without hesitation then. It clearly stated in the warranty paperwork that we had to contact the company we purchased it from and they ABSOLUTELY refused to have anything to do with it. We had to get it fixed privately with NO warranty. In all honesty the warranty would have been nice but we just wanted it fixed but they CLEARLY refused.

It went very well
Description of Work: I needed my propane fireplace repaired Also, my last propane company had a ridiculous charge of over $100/yr if I didn't use 100 gallons which I seems they just implemented in 2016. Having a small free-standing heater, I did not use this quantity. Penny-Wise was much less expensive for the basic fee if I didn't use the 100 gallons. The price of propane was basically the same.

it is extremely difficult to deal with the person who does not have patience to listen & hangs up the phone. She does not allow two way communication which is the basics of the human interaction. When you call she is the only one talking & once you talk to her start explaining, she hangs up the phone. Very rude & unique way of handling the situation.....
Description of Work: We had bought the house in Bushkill PA in December of 2016 & had the oil delivered few times since then, which went ok. But we needed the unit to be serviced. They came in & without our ok replaced the parts & charged us over 850.00, which we disputed , as the old part was never left on premise as the prove of repair. We continued to have the problem & ended up with frozen pipes & the leak in the house damaging the ceilings & the floors. The insurance adjuster requested the service statement to make sure that we had had maintained the unit with oil & regular PM & we were told to get the service statement from Penny wise. That's when our problems started; for past 3 days I am trying to get just the statement of my accounts , so I can prove that accident was not due to neglect, so the adjuster can move with the claim. & they refuse to give me the statement. the person answering the phone is extremely rude & next to impossible to deal with. She constantly hangs up the phone up, saying she can not spend so much time with me. While all I want is the account statement, that she can spend only 2 minutes e-mailing or faxing and I will never , ever have to call that number again. It is absolute nightmare to deal with her & there is no one else answering the phone. They might be afraid of suing? we never, ever thought of such a thing. we just need the statement of their work. Hope they can change their behavior & be customer focused, rather than trying to protect themselves. I believe in honest service & don't believe most of us are out there to get something for free.

Description of Work: I have been using PennyWise for 25 years for my home heating oil and to maintain my furnace. I would highly recommend them. They are very professional, and you can count on them - it they say they are will be there they will be. Even during the worst of winters I always new if there was a problem I knew they would be there to fix it!

I called the company around quarter to 8 at night. I explained to the receptionist that I needed someone tonight because my water boiler was not working anymore. She said okay and someone will be calling me shortly. Within about 5 minutes Joe called me. I explained to him what was happening with my water boiler. He came over to my house within a half hour. He put in a new water pump and fixed the boiler. He checked everything and bleed the air out of the system and fixed everything that needed fixed. He had everything done within an hour. He did a fantastic job. This is why I always stick with Pennyy-Wise. It could be day or night and it wouldn't make a difference. They are on call 24/7.

The customer service has been nothing but horrible! The first time they came to the house Jim the technician wanted to change all my pipes for over $500. That was NOTnecessary so we opted not to. Then he said he cant install the tank because he was missing something. He was going to make me have to call the office again to make another appointment for the following weekend. Once I insisted to make time for the following saturday, he then called somebody and had another technician come out with what he needed. He installed everything and he was ready to leave. He almost got in the car when my husband noticed gas smell in one of the rooms. Jim was p***** off and made me feel like it was our fault, but he got his stuff out of the car again and fixed it. I had 100 gallon tank installed which was used up in 10 days with 3 burners. It seemed a little odd to me, but what did I know, I trusted the experts so I had them come out to the house again to check for leaks (knowing that Jim almost left with a leak on). I asked them to not fill up the tank since I wasn't sure what was going on and using up so my gas. We had also smelled gas just before we called them so one more time I thought it was leaking. Jim came checked everything and found nothing. $45 bill. When I signed up for the service with them and also when you are on hold with this company they pride in not having to call them for refills. That was not the case - December 26th I had a full house of guests and NO propane. I called them and they told me they would try to come out that day but if not they will definitely come on Monday. I don't remember the guy's name that I spoke with but he told me about his mother getting had a stroke (or a heart attack) the previous week. Tuesday morning I checked the tank and it was empty. I called and the person I spoke with said they were not in my area that day and would have to wait until Thursday again to have a delivery. When I insisted he said he could try to have them come that day but it would be a $30 charge. Not once did he apologize or felt sorry that they messed up and didn't deliver as promised. How is this possible? To charge me for fuel delivery because they messed up? I had people in the house sleeping in a freezing room (50F) for the holidays. After again me insisting they had Jim come by again and switched the tanks with another one that had some gas in it to last until Thursday when they'd come to fill it up. He did that. On Thursday - Jan 2 - I got a bill for 94.5 gallons, however the meter showed 20% only. I called right away and emailed a picture to Christina. She said she was going to look into it and call me back. Today - Friday at 1pm I had not received any calls or voicemails so I called again. When I asked about it the lady who answered the phone was talking to me like I should be able to know what is going on, and to shake the tank and see what is going on with the meter, or that the meter was faulty. I told her that that is why I pay them and that they are the experts and they should be maintaining their tanks and meters. Then she told me that whatever I was charged is correct because they their (I forget what she called it) other truck gauge was accurate. Once I asked when the weights and measurements last certified/audited them her answer was "I will pick up my tank and sue you if you don't pay it". I expect them to pick it with what they say it is a full tank and leave me stuck with the 94.5 gallons bill. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND DO NO USE THEM!

Response from Penny-Wise Fuel
(removed member name) requested a single 120 tank be set at a home purchased per customer from a foreclosure. This tank holds @ 99 gallons of propane and the service provided includes a NPGA gas check certified testing procedure. The customer had the tank connected to support one auxiliary space heater, a primary heater in a garage area and a fireplace log set. The log set was not operational when our tech arrived and he completed a maintenance during the tank set. All units were working and customer present at install. Despite COD arrangements, customer delayed payment for two days. Twenty days later, customer called to state she 'smelled gas'. A tech responded immediately, no gas leak. At forty seven days, customer called claiming 'gas leaked' . As a courtesy, Penny Wise Fuel switched out empty tank, noting usage of 99 gallons over more than thirty days is appropriate. Gas check certified again with customer present. Customer refused to pay for fuel in new tank, stating gauge broken. We removed our tanks. Customer using @ 90 gallons of propane per month in winter for three locations is consistent with home size and functions. Customer's accusation of fraud is inaccurate. The amount of unpaid product was $380.70. All service work is documented and signed/ accepted by customer. The remarks made by the customer make inappropriate reference to employee names and inaccurately describes the events. Penny Wise was named best by customers in the recent Pocono Record survey for a full service heating and propane company and is proud to offer full service in greater NEPA.

Every time they come down to deliver the oil, each person is very nice. They are good people. They are available in emergencies. They are 24/7, day or night they will come. And they try to keep the oil prices down as much as they can.
