This company was hired to completely gut and remodel our master bathroom. It was about 6 months after signing the contract before they actually started working on our project. The day before they gutted the bathroom, I was told by the owner he still needed to order a window, which was to be replaced, as it only takes a week for them to be made and shipped. My custom cabinetry, toilet, etc. were also not delivered prior to construction and I was told it was being held in their trailer. They gutted the bathroom and started working on construction, which included plumbing, electrical, hvac, etc. During construction of the main shower area, where now a window was to be installed, none of the framing was inspected to make sure it was plumb, etc. Waterproofing boards were installed and visibly bowed, which they stated they would resolve with thinset behind the tile. They proceeded to installing tiling, until they reached a point where they needed to wait for the window. Well, it showed up a few days later, but the owner had ordered the wrong size. Now another window needed to be ordered, which delayed construction. At the same time various issues were brought up with the tile work, at which point they removed it and started over. When the window finally showed up, they installed it incorrectly. They physically removed the nailing flanges off the window to jam it in, didn’t use any flashing tape to seal the window, and no foam sealant was used. There were visible gaps all around the window which you can see daylight and cold air just blowing in. At this time I told them the window needed to be properly sealed because it was going to be tiled over. I was assured it would be done but I wasn’t home to see if it actually was done correctly. Another wall of tile was then found to have issues where the tile was not level and off by more than three quarters of an inch over a three foot span. That wall was again removed and they started over. At this point my wife and I were getting completely annoyed because of all the re-work , not to mention they kept leaving for up to a week at a time to go work elsewhere since they had to wait for more supplies. I was working from home one day and found the tile installer using sealant from a caulking gun to install tile directly to the shower wall. I asked what he was doing and he stated this is stronger than thinset. Upon finding this, I went to the owner telling him of what happened and he assured me it would be removed and corrected. At this point I was fed up and contacted multiple people including a general contractor and additional tile companies come in and inspect this work. Numerous problems were found including multiple areas where tile wasn’t installed properly, tiles not lining up to the pattern, improper use of building materials, floor not being level, the window wasn’t tempered glass even though it was supposed to be, etc. The list goes on and on. We had to hire multiple new contractors to come in and completely gut out all the work they did. At the same time we had to fight with the owner to release our cabinetry which was being held hostage. A certified tile installer was hired to gut and redo the entire bathroom. A master plumber was brought in to fix all the plumbing issues by relocating the hot and cold water lines for the sink. They also cut off all the twist off connectors and put on proper fittings in all areas. A master electrician was brought in to inspect the electrical work which was done. They found an issue where they had used 14/2 wire on a 20amp circuit causing a fire hazard. Code requires 12/2 on a 20amp circuit. A general contractor was brought in to evaluate the floor joists after they cut four to five inch holes or notches into them to run a HVAC vent. We now had structural damage which needed to be fixed by sistering multiple 10x2 floor joists. A HVAC contractor was brought in to fix and properly relocate the A/C line. A window company was brought in to order and install a tempered glass window. They installed it correctly using flashing tape and foam sealant around the frame. (During the tear out of the old window installed by Maui, nothing was sealed as they said they would prior to tiling over it). This is a short list of issues we had dealing with this company as there were many others. We were left without a shower in our house for over five months and lost tens of thousands of dollars.

I contacted Maui kitchen through the Maui Kitchen website. David called me within two hours and we set up an appointment at my house. David arrived on time and proceeded to show me all the beautiful kitchen his company installed. I explained what we wanted to do in our remodel plan and David suggested we take to project in a completely different direction. All we wanted was to replace the existing cabinets and add a small center island. David suggested we remove the wall between the kitchen and family room and basically redesign the entire kitchen/family room area. I explained that this was not our plan and not the look we were going for. David left without measuring anything as he said he has worked on my style kitchen within our development. David promised to get me a quote within the week. As I write this review it’s been 4 weeks and I still have not gotten a quote from Maui kitchen. I would not recommend this company as it appears they do not follow through with there promises and are more interested in showing you pictures of work they claim to have completed.

Our job was the first one ever done by Maui Kitchens after it was established. We worked closely with Dave Iacovone, the owner, to create the kitchen we wanted. The result was a transformed kitchen space that is both beautiful and functional. We are very happy with it five years later. The most impressive thing is Maui Kitchens' after-sale service. We had a couple of small repairs that were required recently to a cabinet and the lighting. Maui Kitchens sent representatives immediately to handle the repairs at no charge. That's impressive!

We are thrilled with our new Maui kitchen. Maui turned our old "builder's special" design into an upscale, designer kitchen at a very fair price. We hated our original kitchen and believed that we would have to start from scratch to get a kitchen we love. But Maui came up with a design and executed a plan that allowed us to achieve the updated and upscale look we desired while retaining a lot of our existing cabinetry, making the remodel affordable.

The finished project is our dream kitchen. It is exactly what we envisioned. The contractors and employees Maui used were friendly, professional, courteous and knew what they were doing. Dave, the owner, was available any time day or night. We would touch base many mornings before 8am while I was on my way to the office and again at night (after 7 or 8). He would come over on evenings or weekends to work around our and our toddler's schedule when we needed to meet in person. Being an engineer I had a (probably annoying) habit of coming home from work and measuring and checking everything done that day against the plans. Whenever I found something I didn't understand or thought wasn't right Dave was open and easy to talk to about it. More often then not it was just my misunderstanding, but the few times where I was right, I got no negative attitude and it was remedied immediately. As with any remodel there were issues that came up as we dug into the project. The first was that there were structural issues with the first floor support. Dave recommended a wonderful architect/engineer who came in, gave us a great solution to the problem that was safe and fit with our exposed beam first floor. We got drawings for the supports and foundation footer in a day or two and Dave had the steel custom fabricated by a local metal shop. The second issue was that our large range had some un-intuitive (I would say wrong) dimensions on the spec drawings and it was near a window that has a large cove opening and original mill work which I didn't want to loose. Myself, Dave and the installer worked together for a long time to get the best solution to the problem. In the end we came away with a design that meet all of my needs. The last problem, and the only one that actually caused any schedule slip, was that the cabinet manufacturer accidentally painted the wrong side of an end cabinet. Dave found it on delivery and sent it back to get sorted. The turn around took longer than expected and that pushed back the final cabinet and countertop installation. We wanted the installation completed before Thanksgiving because we had family coming in for the holiday. Maui worked to meet our timeline and my wife was ecstatic to cook Thanksgiving in our new kitchen. We only had a handful of punch list items to finish and Maui arrived Monday after the holiday to go over them. Dave took photos of every thing we found and had someone over as soon as we could schedule it.
Description of Work: Maui performed a complete redesign and installation of the kitchen in our 1855 stone farmhouse. We moved two walls, installed footings and steel supports in the basement to shore up the first floor, restored stonework and original wide plank flooring and installed the new cabinets and counter tops. The locations of every appliance was changed and the room enlarged by 20sqft. Several small slide outs where custom made by their installer and perfectly matched the cabinet manufacture's design, color and finish. They also custom milled trim and baseboard work to compensate for the 1.5" slope in our first floor so that it looks seamless. Dave at Maui was willing to work with me on the parts of the project I wanted to tackle myself (electric and plumbing) and worked with my usual HVAC contractor to reroute the heating pipes and baseboards for the new design without issue.

The final result was more than we had hoped for! Kitchen is totally updated and beautifully executed. Price was very reasonable. We love our Maui Kitchen. Did everything go exactly according to plan? If you've ever done remodeling you know that nothing goes exactly according to plan- that's why it's called RE-modeling. You don't start with a blank slate and you are reworking an existing kitchen. Yes, we encountered some surprises and things took longer than expected. But Dave, the owner always got back to us and kept his word. He didn't stop until we were totally satisfied with the job. Would absolutely recommend Maui!

We couldn't be happier with our new kitchen!! The people at Maui are so helpful and professional, the design and details are beautiful, and the quality of workmanship is exceptional. A major construction project can be a daunting and sometimes frustrating experience, but the people at Maui were so considerate and easy to work with that the process went much better than I could have ever imagined. After showing us many different projects they have created and options available to us, they helped us design a kitchen that I had not thought possible before meeting with Maui. I am so glad that we listened to the positive reviews and stopped into their showroom. The quality and workmanship that went into our kitchen is second to none. I would recommend Maui to anyone looking for a high end kitchen. We look forward to working with them on future projects now that we have completed the kitchen of our dreams!

We are taking legal action since we were unable to resolve the issues.
Description of Work: Very disappointed. Dave Iacovone and Maui Kitchen's attorney contacted our attorney after they received our attorney letter but they failed to follow-up. We are perusing litigation in court for Maui Kitchen to pay us back money owed and the cost to repair and complete remainder of the kitchen project. Contract price was $62,342. to remodel kitchen. Many problems , delays with cabinets delivered, shoddy electrical work performed by unlicensed electrician; incorrect, inoperative, not in compliance with building codes and created fire hazard and other dangerous conditions. Maui contractors removed water pipes and drains by cutting off threads so kitchen walls need to be removed to reconnect new drains and pipes. Countertops, backsplash, HVAC, gas lines, water lines, carpentry, painting, not completed by Maui. Dave Iacovone not interested in reaching an amicable resolution and settling our claims. Need to take further legal action.

Dave came up with a beautiful design for my relatively small kitchen. The end result was a kichen that is more open, spacious and functional. Attention was paid to every detail, his suggestions were great. Everyone was professional, there was good communication, and no major delays. I now have a gorgeous kitchen that i enjoy every day. Thanks Dave, for a job well done.

Our experience with Maui Kitchens began at the Lehigh Valley Home Show in March 2014. Below is a summary of the unprofessional and unpleasant experience we had. The project started on September 24th 2014 and continued for well over a year, but was never completed to our satisfaction. It took the intervention of an attorney, at our expense, and the threat of a lawsuit to even get the most critical items completed. ~~We had the reasonable expectation that the project would experience delays, and we knew this was a normal part of construction/remodeling. Dave and Scott had a 4 to 6 week timeline - start to finish. We expected 8 and prepared for that. We have a dog that we took to daycare at a cost of well over $20/day, and that expense was also estimated in our budget for 8 weeks. We could never have imagined the complete disorganization and lack of attention our project encountered. Important to note - we made NO changes to the original project that could be perceived as a cause for the constant delays. ~~The entire kitchen was demo'd on Wednesday September 24th. All of the cabinets and garbage piled up in our 2 car garage, and we had no access to the garage for our personal use until 12 weeks later - December 18th. They continued to pile junk, cardboard, power tools, old doors/windows, tile, grout - you name it - we could barely walk through, let alone park a vehicle. We had asked to retain the old cabinets, but other than that, the rest was garbage. ~~There was NO barrier protection to attempt to contain the dust or dirt. There is no way to explain the extent that the dirt traveled through the house, even upstairs where the doors were kept closed. After the demo, the tile flooring was installed. The floor was the first and only step in the process that had consistent attention and no interruptions. ~~After the tile, there were 3 solid weeks of literally no work done on our project. Day after day, we took our dog to daycare and left our house unlocked in anticipation of work being performed. At lunch, one of us would drive home to see that progress, and there would be no one there. I would call Dave and/or Scott, and they would tell me I must be mistaken, that there were workers at our home installing windows or wiring etc?. We were standing in our home, and we were not incorrect. Over a 3 week time frame, 15 business days, Maui Kitchens had workers there for a total of 3 1/2 days. Day after day we called and were told someone would be there "the next day" ~~By Week #5, towards the end of October, Dave informed us he would be unable to support working in our kitchen for an entire week due to preparing for the Easter PA Fall Home Show. He told us that was his priority. It was beyond reason to expect us to continue to be patient with very little progress on our home. Again, we got Dave's "word" that the week after the show, our project would be on the top of the priority list. ~~Per the contract, there is a payment due for installation of cabinets. When the cabinets were delivered and placed in their spots, not installed per the contract, but payment was requested for that portion of the project. At this point, we were 7 weeks since demo and there was no end in sight. Thanksgiving was now a few weeks away, and Dave committed to us that we would have a functioning kitchen. To our complete disbelief, day after day, nobody showed up, or if they did, stayed for a few short hours then left. ~~Finally, surrounded by 9 weeks of construction dirt and layers of dust and filth, and after many emotional interactions with Dave, the day before Thanksgiving, Dave had 2 workers hook up temporary water in the sink and rigged up the appliances. We had plans for cooking in our new kitchen, but didn't even have a clean dish or anywhere near a sanitized surface to cook. Because nobody at Maui would bring the much-requested hardware samples to choose for cabinets, we couldn't even open the cupboards to begin cleaning. ~~Some of the installations were done so poorly, they had to be done 2 and 3 times to get them right. The double wall oven was installed so high, the keypad was above our heads - this entire unit was removed 3 times to fix the height, and the interior stone we chose was not what was installed. They instead used exterior masonry stone that was completely inappropriate and looked ridiculous. The wall oven was cosmetically damaged during repeated removal, and we were told this would be fixed, but never was. ~~The sink pipes froze the first cold day we had, as they were installed on the outside wall instead of the inside - this had to be completely redone. The gas cooktop sits crooked in the granite on the island - nothing can be done unless we want the entire island removed. Dave's worker completely scratched the new stainless hood vent with a shop-vac. Dave attempted to "buff" the scratches, but that did not work and the entire hood needed replacing - another delay. ~~The major concern was the panels surrounding the refrigerator. From the moment the refrigerator was put in place, which was a brand-new counter depth model, we told Dave the panels were wrong, the fridge was sticking out, and we wanted it corrected. It is in a focal spot of the kitchen and looked terrible. He looked at it and said if it was him, he would "accept" it. Everyone else who saw this agreed with us, the design was wrong and the incorrect panels had been ordered and installed. Maui refused to fix the panels - it was corrected over a year later when it was included in the list of items we wanted fixed that was sent to Dave from our attorney. ~~A new window that was installed was "fixed" at least 5 times due to being crooked, then leaking air so badly the wind whistled through it. Finally, one of the workers actually broke it beyond repair and it was replaced with a new one. Outside, siding that was removed was never reinstalled properly. Walls were spot painted with a brush, instead of rolling the walls, so nothing matches. ~~The project continued randomly - in attempts to fix some items throughout the winter of 2015, with over 30 additional days or partial days past the original 8 weeks. The detail work of painting walls and moldings was never done right, and we have to incur this expense. Every day we paid additional to put our day in daycare - again at our expense. In March 2015, Dave told us he knew he had imposed on us beyond reason, wanted "goodwill", and would not be asking us for the final 5% due to offset the expenses for extreme and unplanned out of pocket as well as stress caused. We asked for a final close-out letter from him recognizing "Paid-in-Full". He gave us (and later our attorney) his word he would supply this to us. At this point, he stopped responding to us and left open items with no plans to correct. ~~By June 2015, we had attempted to reconcile this directly with Maui Kitchens and had gotten no response, so we engaged an attorney to represent us. His first letter to Dave was ignored. It was the second letter that was sent returned receipt that he responded to. We outlined 4 major specific items to be corrected, including the refrigerator panels, the siding outside, grout on backsplash that was 2 completely different colors, and correcting the transition from our hardwood floors to the new tile, which had been done with a random piece of wood that looked like it belonged in a warehouse floor, not in a home. We would pay for the molding and wall painting from our funds - as his team attempted this at least 4 times and it was never done correctly. This letter finally got his attention, and but the end of October 2015, the 4 items were complete. ~~At this time, we have never received the promised "Paid-in'Full" letter. Dave communicated that he changed his mind and would not provide, because he first wanted confirmation we would not post a disparaging review of Maui Kitchens. ~~We have been advised that our options to reconcile any outstanding amounts is the process of Small Claims Court. That is where we have rights against poor business practices. ~~We would never recommend Maui Kitchens to anyone, and are truly disappointed with the entire process. The lack of professionalism and attention was troubling. There are many kitchen remodelers in the Lehigh Valley, and we would highly recommend anyone looking for this service stay away from this less-than-reputable company.

October 15, 2014 we signed a contract to have Maui Kitchens renovate our kitchen. Before they would even draw up design plans, they required a 10% nonrefundable down payment. We reluctantly agreed because they assured us that everything would be finished by May, as we were planning a major family reunion in July and needed it done as soon as possible. They said, "no problem," they could start after the holidays. We were sold on Maui Kitchens because of their promise of quality craftsmanship and "turn key" results. Over the next few months, there was sporadic communication and the date morphed into "we are closing in on a starting date." By the end of February, they told us that we would start at the end of March. When March came and went, we needed that they give us a starting date. They could only say that they would be "starting soon." After repeated emails, texts and phone calls, they finally started our renovation a few days shy of May. Our family reunion was put on hold. Soon after the demo began, the first of many problems arose: - They were going to install a wood floor in the kitchen to evenly match the existing floor in the dining room. Maui assured us that the wood floor in the dining room would be refinished to resemble the new kitchen floor. The floor person told us that it was impossible to do this. In order for us to have the floor we were promised, we had to pay an additional $800.00. After having several go-a rounds about this discrepancy, we agreed to the extra fee so that the work could continue unabated. - They installed a pantry cabinet that extended partially into the doorway, creating additional delays, as they now had to recess this into the wall. - Two windows were in question: We requested specific windows and when they arrived, we realized they were not the windows that we had ordered. Maui did replace one of the windows and we reluctantly agreed to accept the other window. (We did not want to have to replace this window at our expense). Additionally, the window in the mudroom was not what we had ordered. Maui would not replace this window, so we had to personally purchase the window we wanted, at our expense. - As per contract, we had purchased the sinks and faucets. When the counter tops arrived, Maui had installed their own choice of sinks into the counter tops. The counter tops had to be removed and re cut to accommodate the sinks that we had purchased. Yet another delay. - The next issue was the island: we repeatedly explained to the designer that we needed more room in the kitchen/dining area because we had little "walk around" room; simultaneously, we needed more storage space. Unfortunately, his design entailed an enormous island. There was virtually no room to walk around the island and we were barely able to open the refrigerator. Once again, the counter top had to be removed and cut down. In addition, they had to move a section of the cabinetry to another location in the room. The counter tops were then reinstalled. Another major delay. - We needed to coordinate the back splash tile with the color of paint to be used. To that end, the designer ordered the tile that we had picked out. After not hearing from the designer, we asked about the tile and he informed us that the tile was on back order and would not be available for another two months. We had to find another manufacturer and store and bought tiles on our own. Yet another delay. - When the back splash tiles were installed, the new butcher-block counter tops were never protected from the tile cement and grout. Consequently, the butcher-block counter tops were discolored and had to be sanded, causing another delay. - Live electrical switches were never put back into the wall, leaving them dangling and exposed for months. As this was a dangerous safety issue, we asked them to fix this problem. It took them an additional month to remedy this hazardous situation. Additionally, the electrician forgot where he had run the electrical wire for the light in the dining room, and subsequently, had to cut large holes to run another line in the newly painted wall. This added to the countless delays. - After firing the first painter, they sent another painter who was unskilled and sloppy, not even using a drop cloth or caulking until asked to do so. - Some handles were installed on the cabinets crooked and they did not install the shelves in the cabinets. After repeated complaints about being displaced from our kitchen, and Maui's noncompliance with our concerns, we decided to install the shelves ourselves in order for us to use the cabinets. - We had to live with a dumpster on our property for several months. The smell was so bad that we had to put bleach in the dumpster to alleviate the stench. When we asked Maui to remove it, as the demolition had been completed months' before, they said they could have it removed tomorrow if they wanted. It was not removed "tomorrow". It was there at least two to three weeks more as they continued to fill the dumpster with refuse from their other jobs. - Meanwhile, we had to transplant our two cockatiels upstairs in an unfamiliar environment. Because they were displaced for months, they experienced a great deal of duress. Additionally, we were burdened because they were in our bedroom for more than 6 months. - A couple of workers showed little respect for us, talking about inappropriate subject matter, even when cautioned to stop. - They hired and fired their employees throughout the progression of the kitchen renovation. (They "tried out" new employees at the customer's expense). We could go on and on the mismanagement of this company. For almost the entire year of 2015 we felt we were held hostage by this company, never knowing when and if they were coming back to finish our project. There were positive aspects to our remodel - the designer had some unique ideas but giving up almost a year of our lives was too large a price to pay for a kitchen remodel. What could have been a positive experience, was tainted because of the amount of time it took, aggravation, and lack of communication from Maui in letting us know the mechanics of our remodel. We would NOT recommend this company. They subcontract everything out except for the designer. The company MISMANAGED this renovation, not getting the job done in a timely fashion, and not communicating with one another or with the customer. Bottom line - it should not take 9 months, plus, to finish a kitchen renovation. Unless you want a major disruption in your lives, do not choose Maui Kitchens.

Summary: They took our money, made promises, and did not follow through, leaving us with an unfinished kitchen after 4 months of empty promises, negligence, lack of communication, and unprofessional behavior. They started the work on our kitchen remodel on July 23, 2015. This , we were told, would take approx 2 months. As of today, November 23, it is incomplete with no end in sight. NOTE: The following review was posted on November 2. The owner, Dave, came to the house the next day to beg that it be removed and promised that he would personally make sure that everything was taken care of. Since that day, Mark came twice, once to attach the handles to the cabinets, and the once more to try to fix the ceiling by cutting sections out but did not complete anything, leaving holes in the ceiling. While we have been mostly happy with the work performed by both Jesse and Mark (but not happy at all with anyone else sent by Maui), what they have been able to accomplish has been limited by the incompetence and mismanagement of Maui Kitchens. We called Dave on Nov 21 to request that work begin by this morning, Nov 23 or we would have to re-post our original review since almost three weeks have passed since he promised to take care of everything, yet no real work has been done. He did not answer the phone and did not reply to the message we left, and no one has come to work on the kitchen, so we are forced to post this review since no one should have to tolerate this degree of unprofessionalism. Original review posted Nov 2: They gutted our kitchen July 23,24,27,28. The floor and cabinets were removed on 7/23&24. Electricians came July 29,30. I noticed that some of the old insulation was "dirty" looking and called Dave to say I wanted all new insulation installed. He said not to worry. Everything will be perfect and we will be very happy when it is all over. The cabinets were delivered Aug. 6. The floor "tiles" were delivered Aug. 13. We have been eating out since July 23. Work was supposed to start on Aug. 17. When someone arrived, they didn't like it that only the tile was removed from the floor which meant that they would have to scrape the grouting and that the Fridge was still in the kitchen...and they left!!! Aug.18 - Mark and Carlos arrived about 8:45 A.M. with Scott. Aug.19 - Carlos arrived then said he had something to do and left. Aug.20 - Carlos came and worked from 10-4 and scraped the floor in the 1st floor powder room then left at 4 p.m. Aug. 27 = Carlos came and did some spackeling Sept. 1 - Carlos came and sanded the kitchen walls (I don't believe he finished), he left at 2 p.m. Sept. 2 - Joe (not sure of the name) came about 9:00-9:30 to install vent for cooktop and left 3-4 p.m. after finishing. Sept. 3 - Jesse came to paint. When I arrived home from work, I found that he had hung plastic over the doorways to protect our living and dining rooms - I thanked him because no one else had done this and our rooms were filthy with the sanding dust!!. He complained to Dave that no one protected our rooms. Dave then called me to say he would hire Merry Maids for 2 visits to clean up. It was suggested that we wait until all the "dirty" work was completed before having them come to work. - Still didn't call them back(this is Nov. 2!!! Sept. 5 - Jesse came and painted the kitchen and hallway and laundry area. Sept. 8 - 2 men arrived to lay the kitchen floor. Sept. 24 - someone came to re-measure the island for the counter-top to make sure it would be correct. Sept. 30 - Mark came to install our powder room toilet and sink and to install washer and dryer (these had been removed so the flooring could be installed. Toilet wouldn't flush. Also, the vent which heats and cools the powder room was plastered over and no longer exists. It is quite cold in there now. Oct. 2 - Washer and dryer were re-installed and toilet and sink installed - working fine Oct. 6 - Counter tops were installed. Oct. 8 - Mark and Jessie arrived. Jessie painted the powder room, kitchen and hallway. WE have placed our dog in daycare for this entire time - driving to and from Center Valley to Nazareth at a cost of $25 a day and eating breakfast at the Nazareth Diner each day at a cost from $25 to $30 plus tip since this project started!!!! Not counting lunch and/or dinner!!! Nov. 2 - Dave is hard to contact regarding some things that need to be done. When I do get in touch with him, he tells me all will be fine and we will be so happy when the job is completed. REALLY???? This should have been completed by the beginning of Sept.!! I have picked the door pulls and drawer handles twice 1-2 months ago and we STILL CAN'T OPEN THE DOORS OR DRAWERS . The one cabinet is warped and has to be replaced - both Dave and Scott know this for several weeks now. The floor squeaks in about a 3 ft. square area. No comments about our complaint. The cutting board has not been installed yet. The ceiling, when re-plastered after removing it, isn't level and the crown molding won't touch the ceiling in most of the area it should. This will look truly HORRIBLE if not fixed. (I assume that the ceiling must be removed in this area and re-done - but I am not a contractor) The light switches do not have the covers installed...I am waiting for one of us to get shocked when we accidently touch bare wires. Nov. 2 - there is nothing scheduled to be done. No one has addressed our complaints (which I believe to be legitimate). Previously we had our kitchen fully remodeled in 1990 - gutted and completed within a month! So, I ask you: Do you want Maui Kitchens to work in your home???

We met Dave and Scott of Maui Kitchens at a home improvement show in December 2014. They scheduled a visit to our home in late December. At that visit they interviewed us regarding our thoughts on the kitchen remodel. We were looking at a complete demolition and re-build of a dated 1956 era kitchen. The discussion covered the location of the stove, dishwasher, sink, the style of cupboards and trim. Measurements were collected by Dave & Scott for preparation of a plan. To save expense, we (homeowners) indicated that demolition and preparatory construction would be our responsibility. At this point, Maui Kitchens has no knowledge of our construction abilities to perform work suitable for cabinet installation. To their credit, they readily agreed to this arrangement. Some final discussion an thoughts on the kitchen footprint were made before Maui Kitchens departed to prepare a plan. We interviewed a second firm to complete the project but chose Maui Kitchens based on their plan, price and our thoughts on being able to work with them through this project. In short order they scheduled a follow up visit to review the plan. We were able to review the plan on paper and computer to verify the design was what we wanted in a new kitchen. Maui Kitchens made periodic site visits during demolition and set up to verify dimensions and plan for the ordering of the cabinet construction to be ready once installation could proceed once the set up work was complete. Installation began the day the cabinets were delivered. Their installer, Mark, was a very meticulous worker, insuring that cabinet installation was square and plumb and to plan measurements. Maui made arrangements for the counter top provider to make the counter top templates as soon as the lower cabinets were in place. Maui Kitchens work was all we anticipated. We now have a new and highly useable kitchen that replaces a outdated inefficient design. The new kitchen is a joy in which to work and worth the temporary inconvenience of being kitchen-less. We would recommend Maui Kitchens to anyone looking for a kitchen remodel.
Description of Work: Maui Kitchens provided the design for the kitchen, ordering of the cabinets through Adelphia Cabinets, cabinet installation (including crown molding), installation of the backsplash; and, installation of under cabinet LED lighting.

Description of Work: My kitchen turned out great and it was wonderful working with Dave (owner of Maui Kitchens). The design process was a joint effort and Dave was willing to go "back to the drawing board" until we were both satisfied with the design. The cabinets are absolutely gorgeous and the workmanship was excellent. I have gotten rave reactions from all of my friends and family who have seen the kitchen, and I actually love cooking in it. I would highly recommend Maui Kitchens to anyone planning to redo their kitchen.

Ultimately, due to a family health emergency we were unable to have the work done at this time. Maui Kitchens was professional throughout our contact with them. Although we postponed the work I will definitely be calling them back when we are able to. If you are in need of renovations I would highly suggest contacting Maui Kitchens, Inc.
Description of Work: They provided at detailed of the estimate of the work to be performed and explained everything in detail. We have a small bathroom that needs to be gutted and renovated. Scott came up with beautiful plans that would fit our needs precisely. Everyone we dealt with was personable and professional.

They did a great job. Cleaned up after themselves. Never left a big mess at the end of the day. Kept us up to date as to what was done every day. Very good attention to detail. Made sure it was done right. If phone was not answered when we called (which was rare) they called back in a very timely manner. We were very pleased with the workmanship. Made good on everything that was promised. The only reason we gave them a good instead of excellent on punctuality was because it took a little longer than anticipated. We are very happy with the final result.

Our remodel went very well. We are so pleased with the work. I am amazed everyday at how nice our home looks now. Kitchen: complete removal of old granite and back splash. installation of new granite, back-splash and sink. They installed a new stove and dishwasher that we ordered separately from Whirlpool. Dave Iaccovone designed and then installed a gorgeous 6 foot bank of cabinets/ drawers and shelves on a wall in the kitchen that was completely blank. It's absolutely stunning and VERY useful. I finally have more storage and useful countertop space in my kitchen. Master Bath: completely gutted to the studs and rebuilt with updated ceramic tile flooring, beautiful cabinets and mirrors. The old whirlpool tub and tiny shower were removed and replaced with a huge customer built shower with large/modern glass doors. It is amazing! They also painted the walls in the bathroom and the ceiling in the family room below. (we had a leak in our old shower -- which is what necessitated the remodel in the first place) Main bath: replaced our old vanity and the ceramic tile flooring Basement: Pulled up the old carpet and installed beautiful vinyl wood-look flooring. It is such a welcoming place to hang out now! Dave Iaccovone is fabulous! He was quick to answer calls, reviewed all work to make sure it was done perfectly, and above all was professional. He knows his stuff! His crew was the same. I used to pick up every decorating magazine I could find to figure out how to make my townhome look great. Since my remodel, I am no longer looking everywhere for improvement ideas -- it's great to come home to a finished and updated home. It is well worth the investment
Description of Work: Maui Kitchens did a fabulous remodel of our townhouse, with work in the kitchen, master bath and basement. We had the following items redone/installed and are completely satisfied with the work.

I did not like them. I have a bay window and he put the wrong size in so they to send that back and get another one. His workers are fantastic. I’m still waiting for them to come back for a couple of months now because I have a question on the window and he has not come back or called again. I would not recommend them. The workers were an A, they did what they were told to do.

We actually did more work for [member name removed] than just a Bay window, we also repaired work from a previous contractor. As far as the Bay Window, we never put in the wrong size, the installers who by the way still work for us followed normal protocol and double checked the window before taking the old one out and noticed that even though window would fit the opening there was an issue with the projection of the window. I was called and immediately went to the job site and decided rather than try to make this custom made non returnable window work and offer a discount like so many other contractors would do we decided to order another one with the projection issue addressed. [member name removed] thanked us for being honest and understood that we could finish the other work and we would return when the other window arrived. When the new window arrived she stated that now she wasn't happy with the veneer on the Jambs and seat board in the window, the jams were made of finish grade oak by the way. So at no charge to her we stained and finished the wood surfaces and she loved it. Soon after that [member name removed] called with a question regarding a mark in the frame on the exterior of her window I came out and looked at it and there was a mark in the frame so I scheduled a manufactures rep to come out, I met the rep at her house within 1 week from my inspection and resolved the matter completely. In the end this just a typical story of even when a contractor goes above and beyond for people it's just not worth it because some people don't focus on the positive aspects. I can also tell you I haven't changed my phone number and I have yet to receive a call from [member name removed] in regards to her question. I have called her about 5 times since receiving this review and she still has not returned my phone call. To whomever is reading this unfortunate review I as a business owner strive to meet and exceed all of our customers expectations, we never do poor quality work, if we make a mistake we fix it and make sure it's correct and completed to very high standards. I still have all of the same people working for me and they all care about the work they do and do their best to maintain our standards. One more thing too, [member name removed] still hasn't paid us in full she still owes us 300.00

Dave Iacovone, principal of Maui Kitchens, met with us frequently to determine our needs, offered many proposals, and modified them as needed to give us the kitchen we wanted. Dave's communication with us throughout the project kept us up-to-date on all aspects, let us know when decisions were needed, and made sure the project moved forward. The best aspects of working with Dave and Maui Kitchens were flexibility and the beautiful end results that were provided. We often remark about how much we "love" our new kitchen and we are proud to show it off to our guests. If you want a newly remodeled kitchen that you'll be proud of and enjoy for years to come, and one that will add to the future resale value of your home, you would be wise to consider Dave Iacovone and Maui Kitchens for your project.

Buyer Beware! Was told job would take 3-4 weeks for a 9' by 10' kitchen. Job took over 71/2 weeks and everything wrong with the house was my fault according to David Iacovone, owner. Like when they did plumbing work in the basement twice and flooded my basement twice. It was my fault because they did not notice I had older joints that they claimed needed replacing or that they removed values in the piping that controlled water to open pipes (why would you remove something without tracing where it went to) but it was my fault. Never had a leak or flood before they showed up. Also do not have heat because it seems they do not bleed the pipes after working on them. I will have to have my heating contractor come in to bleed the system. The contract stated Maui Kitchens Inc would remove existing flooring and install new Dura-Ceramic floor. I decided to go out and buy, out of my pocket, flooring tiles that my wife liked at Lowes. Maui gave me credit for the Dura-Ceramic but charged extra for, as they wrote, extra labor for floor. (Funny how the labor came out to about the same price as the Dura-Ceramic tile credit) After 1st day on the job was told I have bad electrical wiring and it will require additional money to correct. Since I was adding additional lighting and additional electrical outlets, which was in the contact , any contractor would know if you are increasing amps and wattage you need to add additional electrical lines (apparently I made a bad assumtion). Was told adding additional lines was not written in the contract. So electrician finally showed up in week 7. Seems as they were rewiring my kitchen they disconnected my outside security lights. My security lights still do not work. Maui Kitchen Inc. claims it is my fault because my wife told them that the red power source light that tells us that they were on was not working. When I asked them to reconnect the power source that they disconnected, I was told by them that my wife told them they did not work. Funny how they were working the day before they arrived when I took out the dog the night before. I will need to have an electrican come in to reconnect because they fail to take responsibility. I was told in week 4 that they would be installing the backsplash tiles. Did not happen till week 7. Sink and dishwasher was not connected until week 7. Electrical done in week 7. Funny thing about week 7, in week 6 I complained that there may be an issue with the final payment. I was then told, maybe they should just leave and walk off the job. Amazing how fast everything happened one I mentioned money. Gave access to the house for them to come and go as needed. There were a few times the house was left unsecure. Again it was my fault because when they left, they claim they thought someone was home but did not check, so no need on their part to secure the house. It is over 5 weeks since they left and I have requested a number of times they return their access to the home. They still have not responded. Will need to spend additional funds since they will not return access. On the positive side: cabinets are nice, wife loves the granite countertops. Kitchen looks ok, not impressive. Pricing was not the cheapest estimate received or the most expensive. But when he sits you down and says this is the price for the whole job complete, no additional costs, get it in writing otherwise expect to pay an additional 10% to the price quoted plus additional funds to clean up things they do not take responsibility for. I have a bathroom that needs to be done, but I can not hold it for 6 or 7 weeks, and there is no gas station down the block so I suppose I'll need to look elsewhere.

This is a perfect case of a job where there was absolutely no way to foresee the existing problems until the existing kitchen was removed. The problems that were hiding in this home were some of the worst I've come across in a very long time. Every time we started one thing another thing would need to be addressed. Ie: when water was shut off from under sink, the valves would not hold, this is a common issue so we went downstairs to shut off main and of course that didn't work either, we would have to get into a much larger repair than we we prepared to do so we decided to repack the valve. And come back next morning to replace. We instructed the homeowner to keep an eye on it and let us know if it started to drip. Upon arrival the following morning we checked the basement immediately and found about 2 gallons of water on a concrete floor near the washing machine, and the home owner stated he thought the water was coming in from a leaky window during a rain storm the previous night. So we cleaned up the now described as "flood" and had to shut off the water at the street to replace the main valve and every other valve in his basement. This was the way this entire project went. Can't imagine why it took longer than expected. We fixed every problem and worked with this customer every step of the way and moved other projects back to bring this a beautiful completion. There are so many things I can say in response to this but I don't think the character limit from Angie's list will allow. In our opinion we worked hard and maintained a diligent effort to produce a job that meets our very high standards and commitment to good customer service. You should see he before during and after pics.

Living with my outdated kitchen for many years made a complete kitchen remodeling seem like a very intimidating experience. Both my husband and I were quite nervous at the thought of replacing a totally useable kitchen even though we desired the upgrade. Picking out cabinet wood finishes, countertops (granite, formica, etc), flooring and designing an island seemed impossible. Spending the money was also another consideration. We were very pleased with the advice and found the experience of choosing and designing fun thanks to their help and guidance. The actual job of tearing out countertops, cabinet fronts, flooring was a dirty job but they taped up the open areas keeping that dirt stationary. Every evening the kitchen was completely cleaned without dirt going thoughout the rest of the house. Everything was done to our complete satisfaction! Did I mention - We love our kitchen!
Description of Work: A complete redo of my 1950's kitchen. My cabinets were in great shape but the finish on the doors were aged. Our cabinets which were refinished and the new doors and hardware replaced the aged fronts. The countertops were formica and, while in good shape, were just plain outdated. Granite countertops and tile backsplash compliment the cabinets beautifully. The kitchen table was unused space since we always eat in our enclosed patio. An island was designed (matching the cabinets and granite countertops) which added more cabinet space and a functional workplace. All appliances were replaced. An over-the-stove microwave was built in replacing the on-the-counter microwave which gave additional counter space. The company gave advice on where to purchase the appliances at good buys! A nice savings for us. Tile flooring completed our modernized kitchen. All the designing and contract work was done by the company. We love our kitchen!!
