John and his crew are a first class act! Really a pleasure to work with. Professional, courteous, punctual, exceptionally competent, and laser-focused on delivering customer satisfaction. John was easy to reach via phone and when unavailable he quickly returned my calls. All of their equipment appeared to be state-of-the-art and well maintained. Pricing was fair and reasonable. We have previously hired other tree companies but none have matched the quality of service that we received from Hungry Beaver. Wouldn't hesitate for even a second to hire Hungry Beaver again -- or to recommend them to others.

John was excellent with everything from start to finish.

I had a few smaller trees removed and 2 large trees removed. I had the canopy raised on the remaining trees in the front yard. The job took two days. One day to remove the trees & prune. The second day, a few hours to grind two stumps. John arrived when promised. The job went as planned. He was careful not to disturb adjacent areas including the lawn & left the area clean. I was impressed with the stump grinding. He used a shield that kept the debris contained. This was the second job he did for me & would use him again. I don't remember the date of service but it was August.

This was undoubtedly one of the best service jobs ever. From the beginning when John returned my call (within less than an hour) to the clean up at the the end, everything went just as he had laid it out for us. The very large, half-dead tree in our backyard was removed, the wood all hauled away, the stump ground out, and our backyard was cleaned up. And this was all done at a reasonable price! There was no damage to the lawn or property. We would definitely use Hungry Beaver again.

This is the second time we hired John to complete another large job for us. He showed up the same day to give a quote. Once we accepted he came out and started work. Rain was forecast for the entire week so he was able to move the fallen tree to our driveway as to not damage our lawn. Even though it rained every day he was able to complete the job in between the storms. He did an amazing job and we'll definitely be calling him again for more work in the future. Thank you!

Most of the trees were dead (rotted) or dying. Some of the work required extra care because of proximity to house and/or shed. His equipment fit great on our property. He was able to maneuver around the house & septic system with ease. Care was taken not to drop the trees over the septic field. all but one tree were taken down in sections with his compact boom lift. All debris was removed, one stump had to be ground. The clean-up was excellent, his equipment left minimal marks. I have more work to be done, & I will use them again

The owner John Katelas promptly called to schedule an estimate. John was able to fit this job into his schedule the same week. John brought a grinder that was able to remove all of the stumps which he also removed for us and cleaned up the driveway and around the areas where the stumps were removed. I am very pleased with the result and can give John an unqualified recommendation.

John was recommended to us by a friend, and he exceeded our expectations. His pricing was very fair as we needed three large trees cut down and removed. He used top of the line equipment - no hack job here. We didn't need the stumps ground; he was able to complete the job in a day (not sure how long stump grinding takes). We highly recommend, and would definitely use again (chances are good since we're surrounded by trees).

It took 2 days because he did 95% of the work himself. He is a very hardworking young man. Very skilled at what he was doing. Has great equipment, a smaller lift that can get around into my backyard. His work is excellent. My only negative comment would be that his language is a bit too colorful for me.

Excellent. We have used them for 3-4 years and they are always prompt, friendly and fairly priced. They always clean up and remove waste and debris in such a manner that it was almost impossible to tell that they were there. They are my "go to" company for this type service. Photos below show areas where Magnolia tree and stump removed this year and new landscape added; and where 3 pine trees and stumps removed in prior service in 2016

My husband and I were very pleased the first time we had the work done. Top equipment used, no damage done to yard or house. Very knowledgeable with what had to be done. Took time to give us options with explanations of what was the best way to tackle the problem. We were so impressed we called him back to take care of tree issues in back of home. When there were weather concerns (rain and muddy conditions) John called us to explain that he did not want to damage the yard with bringing in equipment that would damage property. Kept in contact with us with updates and came by to check the conditions before making and setting a date. This is professional service!! Was able to discuss pricing with him also a plus!!

John was a total professional and a pleasure to work with. He was prompt and very thorough. The price was very fair. We will be hiring Hungry Beaver Tree Service in the future to deal with any tree problems.

John and his staff (crew) were punctual, efficient, and responsible. The equipment used was top-notch and the removal of the trees and stumps was done carefully and efficiently. Both trees were cut down. One, a hickory, was cut into fire stove lengths for a neighbor. The other, a box elder, was removed or chipped. All work was executed well, little damage was done to the lawn by the equipment used (rubber tracks not wheels) and clean up was as would be expected. Both stumps were ground sufficiently.

John was professional from the time he spoke to me on the phone when I called to receive an estimate all the way up to and including the clean up of the area. He is very knowledgeable, polite, and punctual. The price that was given to me was fair for the work that was completed. He has the equipment to get the job done right. I would definitely hire him again without a doubt. Great job!!

We have found John to be reliable and efficient. We have used him on three separate occasions removing at least 4 trees and grinding 10 stumps. The latest was a large chestnut tree with lots of spiky seed pods on the tree and on the ground: he exceeded our expectations by not only removing the tree and grinding the stump, but also removing the seed pods on the ground.

Job was estimated and performed in a couple of days to my complete satisfaction. Great cleanup of debris.

John got back to me right away and was quick to provide an estimate. The estimate was definitely very reasonable for the work that needed to be done. John showed up on time and went about his work in a professional manner. He cut down the two trees during his first visit. He had to come back a second time (with a different machine) to grind out the stumps. Both times he took great care to ensure that there was no damage to my property. Before he left he made sure he cleaned up all the debris that was left on our lawn and driveway. He even went out his way to cut some high branches of a different tree that were pushing against the edge of the roof (free of charge). I would recommend John and Hungry Beaver Tree Service without any reservations.

I've been a return customer for 10+ years. That should say it all. . . John is fair, honest, knowledgeable, works very hard, and has excellent equipment.

John explained how the job would go, set clear expectations and then proceeded to do exactly what he said he would do. The tree was located 10 ft from my back porch roof and about the same distance from my garage roof set inside a fence between a row of hemlocks and a beautiful dogwood tree . He was able to maneuver their equipment safely between and around all of that. He made sure I was satisfied with the way things looked before the left. All 6 of the crew were professional and respectful. I got other quotes for this same job and the prices were all about the same. I would recommend Hungry Beaver Tree service to anyone.

The were very impressive. The job took 3 full days to finish. The personal were hard working and the equipment they used was technically advanced. They performed all tasks that were asked and did it very well. They went beyond our expectations and we really appreciate everything. In addition, they cleaned up after themselves and we're professional and courteous. Perhaps 25 to 30 dead trees were removed in total and all the wood chips were hauled away. They also removed previously large areas of stacked wood that were rotting. The stump removal did not leave any holes as they filled it in afterwards. In one instant, they used extra ground to fill another hole in the property not associated with the job.
