I have moved 5 times in the last 7 years. So far Gerry is the best home inspector of all 5 purchases. He actually went on the roof, took digital photos, removed panels and went into crawl spaces. All the things good Home Inspectors are supposed to do but don't. He was professional and gave us personalized inspection report and binder with the how to's on maintaining a home. He is WELL WORTH THE MONEY. I am so bumbed because I am moving again and he is on vacation the day I need him to inspect my home. If you go with someone else because they are cheaper shame on you. I did that the second time and kicked my self when I had to replace electrical, point a chimney and install a furnace in the first year. I will never skip out and use a cheap home inspector again. He is a great value! He probably doesn't even remember me and I didn't think I would remember him until I saw all these other crappy Home Inspectors with binoculars that were afraid of ladders. They don't want to go into crawl spaces and sweat. Then I remembered Gerry sweating and making me feel like he had my family in his best interest. Thank you Gerry. This Review is for all the headaches you saved me!
Description of Work: Did a full home inspection before I purchased my home.

Not only was Gerry was very friendly, professional, and answered all of our questions--and because this was our first house purchase, we had lots of questions. More importantly, he answered our questions with explanations that were easy to follow and he did not make us feel foolish for asking basic or novice-type questions. I appreciated that he not only pointed out areas in need to repair, but showed us where the key systems in the house were located and how to maintain them, including some money-saving tips to help us avoid over-eager contractors in the future. Gerry was very responsive as well. He followed up after our inspection with a call to answer any outstanding questions. I have also called him after normal working hours and he has answered his cellphone to take my call. If I have any critique, it would be that the report did not provide expansive descriptions of the problems that were uncovered. Rather, there were short, almost bullet points on the problems and the recommended solutions. While Gerry provided us with extensive explanations of his finding, the home sellers did not participate in the inspection and did not talk to Gerry directly so they must infer the seriousness of the findings based exclusively on what is in the report. To this end, short description may not provide a complete picture of the extent of the problems which may make it more difficult for other buyers to receive credits from sellers for any repairs. That said, we were very pleased with the service we received and would recommend Gerry to others.
Description of Work: Gerry performed a home inspection for us on ~3,000 sq ft house that we were under contract to buy. He arrived at the time he promised (8 am on a Saturday) and did a thorough inspection on the house--he even made sure we had a pole to operate each of the skylights in the house. He began in the garage before working his way from the top floor of the house to the basement. He tested and checked each fixture in the house, ran all the sinks, toilets, showers, etc and was not shy about getting into tight spaces to check for potential problems. Due to rain on the day of our inspection, he was not able to inspect the roof, but he returned on the next sunny day to inspect the roof up close. He made sure to talk through each of his findings and offer an explanation of what he was testing for, why it mattered, and what the results might indicate about the underlying systems of the house. He took pictures of problem areas and left few stones unturned. In total, he spent nearly 4 hours with us going through each room and provided us with a written report before leaving.
