Joe Egan Painting

We were very pleased with the quality exterior painting that Joe Egan did for our front porch and front bay window. For the front porch, two crew members moved all furniture, properly prepared the stucco for painting, replaced and patched damaged wood, and neatly applied multiple coats of our selected paint. They were friendly and polite, cleaned up and replaced all furniture back on the porch. The quality of the painting itself was very good, and we?re happy with the fresh, updated look of our porch. They also power-washed a side of the house that wasn?t being painted for a small additional fee. For the bay window, Joe Egan went above and beyond! It wasn?t in the original estimate, but after having a window replaced, it really needed to be painted. Joe himself came out during a sweltering heat wave and expertly prepared and painted the window. And he didn?t even charge us extra! Wow! That?s going the extra mile! We would definitely hire Joe again for interior and exterior painting.

When Joe came to give us an estimate, he immediately recognized how much prep work was going to need to be done. We were impressed by his ability to see the problem (wallpaper stripped but glue never removed before painting) and his confidence that his team would be able to do the job. His estimate was quite a bit more than the others we got, but we were willing to pay for quality prep work. Unfortunately, the prep took longer than he expected, and his team cut corners. For example, they did no prep work in the dining room, did not scrape glue and rug residue off the vents, missed a few spots with the second coat in the living room, and didn't do a second coat in the dining room. When I called Joe to discuss our dissatisfaction, he tried to tell me that they never planned to prep the dining room, and that they had done a second coat. He eventually stopped by, saw the quality of the work, and blamed the paint store for not mixing the paint properly! They quickly applied a second coat. When I talked to him about the other problems--paint spatter not cleaned up, painting over picture hooks, failing to prep vents--he told me that this job was costing more than he expected, and that they didn't have time to do any more work. I was very disappointed in the quality of the work and the way Joe handled our complaints. I was always polite and direct, but found him to be rude and condescending, frequently interrupting and talking over me. I have never posted a negative review, but don't want anyone else paying what we paid for a poor-quality paint job.

Joe Egan and his team did a great job. Very prompt in returning my calls and scheduling initial estimate time. Estimate response time was very good and his prices were competitive. We were able to quickly schedule the painting on our first floor and the results are really good ? professional results. Completely satisfied.

Joe came out for the estimate. Once we agreed on price, he and his son came out to go over exactly what they would do. Joe's son supervised the workers and was there every day. They showed up on time and were sincerely concerned that we were satisfied. They were also happy to accommodate any changes that we requested. All in all, they communicated with us at every step of the process and did a high quality job on time and on budget. They made sure we were happy with the final results before final payment (we were). Hard to ask for more. As for price, we negotiated a little. While Joe's estimate was not the lowest, it was certainly fair and we have no complaints. UPDATE: We have since had a few weeks to go around the house and find things that were not easily seen. There is a lot of paint splatter on our stone porch in the back, there is brown paint all over a white PVC pipe that runs along the side of the home (radon exhaust). The gutters were not properly replaced, just sort of left there. Re-graded them to a C.

Joe came promptly to look at the deck after I contacted him and followed up quickly with the estimate. The estimate for the work was competitive for the scope of the job. They moved a lot of deck furniture and a gas grill from the deck. The pressure washing made the 28 year old deck look the best since it was built. The painters applied the waterproofing in one day. They were meticulous, covering all exposed surfaces. They also did some minor trimming of shrubbery for better access and re-nailed some loose boards, something that I did not anticipate, all included in the original price. Overall, I am very satisfied with the work that was done.

Joe and his team repainted the interior of my home including ceiling and trim. Joe did a good job explaining what would be done, and what was possible given the wallpaper beneath several coats of old paint. Joe was very thorough with paint selection and confirmation, and offered helpful advice for bathroom ceilings and paint finish in certain rooms. The crew was prompt and used drop cloths throughout. The quality of the painting work was very good and Joe did a nice job keeping me updated on the progress of the work throughout the assignment. The cost was slightly less than some of the large painting companies in the area, and significantly less than what it would have been to remove all of the old wallpaper and repaint.

We first asked for help from Joe Egan's Painting back in the summer 2014 when we wanted to do some extensive exterior painting. We were pleased with the quality of the work and the responsiveness from Joe, so we asked him to return in the late fall to some additional work inside. Joe was a pleasure to work with---he responds quickly to phone calls and emails, he takes great pride and responsibility with his crew and their workmanship and he makes every effort to complete the work in a professional and timely manner. We are very pleased to work with them and will ask them when we need another paint job completed.

The painting looks great, the crew was professional and on time every day, and Mr. Egan was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with.

He did an excellent job. He was very responsive and responsible. I wanted a certain specification (perm rating) of paint for the stucco, based on a stucco inspector's recommendation, and Joe abided by my wishes ("the customer is always right", said Joe, a phrase I haven't heard in many years -- it was refreshing). His painters were professional, courteous, and neat, cleaning up after each day and at the end of the job, which spanned about 3 weeks. One weekend towards the end of the job, Joe came to my house unannounced to inspect the work of his painters. I was home, and walked around with him. If something was not to Joe's or my satisfaction, he had his crew redo or fix it. A few weeks after the job was finished, Joe came by, noticed something he didn't like, and said he would fix it -- I hadn't even noticed. His son was one of the painters and was on the job every day, and his daughter sometimes answered the office phone (sometimes I called Joe's cell phone, sometimes his office phone). I like this family business approach. He, or his son or daughter would return calls promptly, and the crew came when said they would come, working whole days until the job was finished The work was excellent quality and a good value. I would definitely want Joe for another paint job, and would recommend him to anyone who asks.

Joe and his crew showed up promptly, both for estimating the job and for performing the job. His crew was very professional and courteous. They reviewed with me in depth what they would be doing in advance of the work. Joe is particularly good about returning phone calls promptly. He charged me exactly what he said he would, with no surprises or additional costs. He completed the job when he said he would. His team did an excellent painting job and the garage looks great.

Joe showed up late, was dressed in rags looking like a homeless person. I was almost afraid to let him in the house. I can't imagine a rougher, more unprofessional person. He was the third person to give me an estimate and was four times higher than either. The other two estimates were around $200 - $250 and he asked for $980, then generously offered the Angie's List discount at $890. He must have thought I looked like I could afford it. BEWARE!!!

Joe was my point of contact. He promptly returned my calls, communicated regularly with me, reasonably negotiated pricing and delivered on time. The house looks terrific. Other than a few trim-color paint splashes here and there on the house, the work is high quality.

Came on time, two fellows went about a long-overdue cleaning of roof (which even had a few small trees in the valleys!) and gutters.. Dirt, including old leaves and branches were bagged, and roof carfully cleaned with pressure hose (adjusted to avoid over-pressure on shingles). Cleaned up everything.

Very prompt with the painters arriving early in the morning. Got to work right away. Each painter knew their job and my house looks great. I can't believe there are no drips or splashes anywhere and I'm a fussy person!

I was in a hurry and my job was slotted in so as to help me as I had a deadline to meet to get the job finished.

Joe is an honest, straight shooter that is super responsive, punctual and cares about pleasing the customer. There should be more people in the home improvement industry like him.

We are extremely happy with the result. Although this was a relatively small job, we never felt shortchanged in the attention and care that was given to the work. Joe Egan and his crew were prompt, friendly, accommodating, careful and neat. They were conscientious about doing a good job. We feel confident that the best products were used and the result will be long-lasting. We will definitely use this company for any future painting needs.

Joe Egan Painting did an excellent job and were a pleasure to work with. They were timely, professional and attentive to our requests. The few problems we identified (i.e. a second coat of paint on one part of the garage) were promptly and completely addressed. It was a huge job (it is a big house) and we were very pleased with the final result. We were a bit put off by the estimate, which seemed very informal and indeed there was an error and it went up a bit. Still it was much lower than the highest estimate and in line with the others, meaning it seemed to be an honest clerical error. We would definitely use them again,

My first impression of Joe, the owner, was that he was straightforward, professional and easy to communicate with. I hired his team who did a meticulous job of re-habbing my stucco house. Because Joe recommended it, I went with a Sherwin Williams paint product that put a membrane on the stucco. I understand that I won't have to paint again, but instead, just power wash every few years. The crew was on site for about a week and were very professional and cleaned up really well after themselves. Joe had to call in a carpenter to repair some of the eaves, but it was a very modest extra charge. The house looks immaculate. They paid attention to the details and the house really looks great. Would definitely recommend this provider to my friends.

It has been several years since I cleaned and stained our rear deck and it was high time to have this done, especially after the long winter and the repairs done on the back of our house. I contacted Joe and left a message discussing the job and he called back the next day. He was able to stop by and provide an estimate, which I considered to be reasonable, having gotten estimates from other firms. After the heavy rains we experienced in early April he was finally able to schedule a date when his people would be able to come by and power wash the deck (April 8) and then complete the actual staining on April 10. I had worried that since I had newer pieces of lumber in some parts of the deck I would have a problem with mismatched coverage, but I needn't have concerned myself. He was able to get a stain that left the entire deck looking great. I'm certainly going to consider having him come out for some additional exterior paint work soon!

I would have hired Egan Painting, yet we were fortunate to have a family friend do the painting. We will however, call them again because we had such a positive experience on responsiveness and fairness to giving an estimate. Thank You Joe. Go Phillies!

Joe is a class act and his guys are great. He was responsive to fixing a few small concerns I had with the job after they were finished--paint chipping, gaps opening up etc. He even came back a couple times proactively to check in on some areas where he thought there might be issues. You won't be sorry if you go with Joe--now if I could just find a plumber, electrician and carpenter I can trust as well...

Joe came to give an estimate on time. His two guys also came to do the job on time. They also came back several days later as promised to put the deck furniture back. Everyone is professional. Overall, very happy with the service. Will use them again.

Joe and his crew were the best! We called Joe for an estimate and he came out to the house within a day or two and gave us an estimate right away. My mom had wallpaper removed, painting in living room, dining room, hallway, including all trim work, porch ceiling, back deck power washed and painted, kitchen (which required several coats), and 3 additional ceilings upstairs done. They arrived on the date Joe said and were finished in about a week. Their work is just wonderful. They removed all the wallpaper, spackled, and prepped the walls beautifully. (And I am picky.) The cutting in of the paint was perfect. The woodwork looks brand new. They were respectful, friendly, very professional and cleaned up every day so my mom could have access to her living areas. I would definitely hire Joe again. He was a pleasure to work with.
