I contacted Wayne to do some hardwood repairs, refinish and possibly replacement for a family displaced by a fire. The job was in Wilmington and Mr. Myers was very busy. I agreed to take lots of pictures and send them to him so he could get a feel for the job without having to travel to Wilmington. After seeing the pictures he asked if I could take up a sample piece of the hardwood and get it to him so he could tell what it was. I traveled back to Wilmington from Montco, Pa. and got samples to him. He informed me that the flooring was not readily available and was not cost effective to have it made. As G.C. I passed this information along to the restoration company and insurance adjuster handling this loss. They asked for Mr. Myers contact info so that they could speak with him and alter their scope of work based on his opinion. Numerous voice mails, emails and text messages were sent to Mr. Myers by myself, the insurance adjuster and the restoration company. NO REPLY! His helper (who was my original link to Mr. Myers) finally sent me a text that Mr. Myers was no longer interested in doing the job. The helper was very apologetic and admittedly embarrassed. I would not recommend Mr. Myers to anyone.
Description of Work: Supposed to sand and refinish floors, and possibly replace some floorings.

That was the last I heard from Wayne. I’ve left several phone messages for him and also sent him an email asking why he hasn’t responded to any of my messages. I’m in the construction business and have dealt with contactors for many years. I understand things can change for whatever reason. However, what is totally unacceptable is not letting your client know that you can’t do the job, aren’t interested in the job, you put in the wrong bid, or you got a better job within the same time frame, etc. I had no intention of going public with my opinion about a contractor. But that wouldn’t be fair to the next person looking at this contactor’s profile and seeing nothing but A ratings.
Description of Work: Based on the reviews in Angie’s list I thought Wayne would be a good choice to refinish our hardwood floors. I called him at the beginning of June and he responded within a few days. We arranged a meeting and he was on time, very polite and knowledgeable. We originally were only going to refinish the main hallway which runs from the front of the house to about ¾ of the length of the house. We started discussing some of the other upcoming renovations, including the dining room and the kitchen. We had not considered new wood floors for both areas. Wayne was great, he described the different widths of wood we could use in either the dining room or the kitchen and color options. I gave him the dates we had set up for the additional work which was several months away. We received a quote from Wayne for the original area, plus pricing options for the dining room and kitchen. I agreed to the pricing and let Wayne know we wanted to proceed first with the hallway and then the dining room. The kitchen area would be done after the 1st of the year. He said he would get back with us with a sample boards to pick colors for the different areas.

Wow, what can I say? If you need floors refinished you should call Wayne--he's professional, thorough, skilled in his trade and very pleasant to deal with. He showed up exactly on time to give me a quote and provided the most reasonable estimate of all 3 refinishers I contacted. The floor was extremely old and damaged and he told me up front that he wasn't sure that all the stains would come out 100%. I appreciated his honesty, so I knew what I was dealing with. His work was meticulous (getting under all the radiators) and the floor turned out better than what I ever dreamed it would have (I'd say he was able to remove 95% of the stains). What made it especially nice was that Wayne took pride in his work and it was obvious that it made him happy to see me so pleased with the floors. He finished exactly on time. I would definitely recommend him and would use him again.

We moved into an older home with hardwood floors that needed refinishing. We contacted 3 members on Angie's list and choose Wayne because he was the lowest price. He did a fabulous job. We have radiator heat which he worked around meticulously and also fixed flooring in several spots. He was prompt, polite, and finished in the timeframe he gave us. We are very pleased and would highly recommend him.

I made an appointment to have Wayne come and give an estimate. He was very personable on the phone. When he was 30 minutes late, I called and left a message asking if I had the wrong day, or to reschedule. He never showed up, never called, and never returned the call. Pretty disappointing.

Mr. Myers provided a written quote promptly, along with 3 other hardwood flooring contractors I picked from from Angies List. All were and quot;Aand quot; rated in all categories and all had very good written recommendations. I felt at ease with all of them during the house visit to provide the quote, so I could have worked with any one of them. Additionally they all had about the same backlog time of 3 - 4 weeks to start, if selected. Therefore my decision was rather easy and going forward was based on and quot;lowest price. Myers had the lowest price by a good margin. His total price for all the work was $3,660. Myers provided an insurance certificate, as requested and showed up to start the job promptly at the time and day promised. We had moved all furniture out of the dining room prior to his arrival, although he indicated that they could do it, but I wanted them to get started. Myers does all the work himself with one helper. First day they took out all carpeting and padding from hallway and dining room and removed it to the garage area prior to trash pickup. They inspected the flooring and re-nailed (with a air power hammer) all plywood flooring. As the spindles on the circular staircase were never glued/nailed in place, he hand removed each to better refinish the staircase flooring. The second day they installed all the hardwood flooring in hallway and dining room and sanded. They took care to and quot;seal offand quot; other rooms with plastic sheeting taped around doorway opening to prevent sanding dust. There was not as much dust as I thought, but there was a small film generated from the power sanding....this is unavoidable when having non-pre-finished hardwood installed. They applied the stain after sanding the flooring and the staircase. On the third day they applied two more coats of polyurethane and one more on the last day. Each day at the end of the work day they cleaned up and left the place as clean as possible. They arrived around 7AM and worked until 3-4 PM, taking about 1/2 hour for lunch. Myers brought samples of stain for us to consider, and we picked two. On the day he installed the hardwood, he stained two areas, prior to sanding, so we could see a larger view of the color. That was a very good thing to do, as the one we liked, after seeing it on the floor compared to the other one, we chose the other one. Myers actually like the one we eventually chose but he let us make up our minds by suggesting we see a sample of it on the floor. Also we had thought we wanted a and quot;high glossand quot; finish but Myers cautioned against it, as provided those same stained sample areas with the semi gloss and high gloss finish...we chose the and quot;semi gloss...Myers was right again!! He finished the work on-time and without any workmanship problems and we are very happy with the results!! We definately will use Myers in the future for additional hardwood flooring we are considering and would highly recommend him to others!!

Excellent process, professional and experienced personnel, very knowledgable and hardworking.
Description of Work: Repair and refinishing of red oak hardwood floors. They arrived on time and on schedule, moved all furniture and rugs. They repaired water-damaged sections of flooring, sanded floors to remove old finish 4 times, helped me choose stain, applied stain, applied polyurethane (3 coats), then moved all furniture and rugs back into place. These floors never looked so good. Price was this high due to large area being serviced.
