I was initially impressed with Zack, the owner - he seemed professional and helpful, and like he knew what he was talking about. The price he quoted me also was very reasonable. The project was supposed to take one day. However, while Pennsy was doing the work, their equipment broke down and they had to leave it overnight and complete the work the following day. Upon completion, there was a brownish line in the middle of my driveway where it looked like dirt had mixed in with the black asphalt - it looked ugly. I called Zack and he promised that the line would go away with a little time. The line never went away. After a while, I called and messaged him back to ask him to fix it. He ignored multiple messages and phone calls until finally I became irate and then he responded saying there was nothing wrong with the work and that it will look fine when it is sealed in a year. I asked him if he could reseal it for free and he refused. I eventually gave up, but I want to alert others out there that Pennsy is a terrible company to deal with and to urge that people exercise caution before hiring them.

Work was done in July 2019. Originally we were very pleased. Jobsite was clean and debris free after work was completed. Driveway looked great. Company did exactly what they promised. Problems began this spring (2020) when areas near the garage began crumbling and stones became loose. There are now numerous areas on all sections of the driveway that are crumbling. Contract came with a 24 month guarantee. We started attempting to contract them in May 2020 and after numerous telephone calls, emails and Facebook private messages, we have yet to be contacted by contractor. Our driveway continues to deteriorate less than one year after work was completed.

Zack Hoffman from Pennsy Paving and Concrete LLC, repaved our driveway on Monday, 4/22/2019. The driveway surface, near the entrance of the garage started to crumble and loose pieces were all around. They stuck to the tires, as well as your shoes. The small black stones kept getting tracked into the house. I reached out to Mr. Hoffman, both through his website and left him voice mail in late July. Since I didn’t receive a response, after 2 weeks, I sent an e-mail to Zack@pennsyllc.com on 8/09/2019. On 8/10/19, I received a response from Zack saying he would be out ASAP to look at the issue. I followed on 8/12 & 8/14. Zack did show up after I mentioned that social media complaints would not be good. Zack said he would be out to fix the issue some time, the week of 8/19/19. I contacted him, again, via email on 8/26/19 indicating that he mentioned he would be out, last week to fix the driveway. I asked is he had any idea when he thought he could resolve the driveway problem. With no answer, I followed with him, again, on 9/4/19. He responded with a copy of my Facebook post that explains what had taken place. There weren’t any comments from him, just a copy of my post, in the email from him dated 9/4/19. I responded the same day, telling him, I would delete the post, once the driveway was fixed. He then responded he told me it would be fixed “as soon as possible”. Still no response, so on 10/10/19, I asked if he had any idea when ASAP would be. Since we never heard another word from him, and the driveway was deteriorating at the entrance to the garage, we had only one option, which was bring someone else in to do something about it. My husband ended up getting someone to seal coat the driveway, so it would stop breaking apart. Then, on 3/10/2020, I noticed a crack in the driveway and sent an email to zack@pennsyllc.com. I again contacted Mr. Hoffman on 3/12/20 and 3/14/20. Zack responded on 3/15/20, saying they could address the issue with the crack, when we bring them out to seal coat the driveway. I responded that day, letting him know we had it seal coated, to resolve the problem from the fall. Since I didn’t receive a reply, I followed, to see what they could do, on 3/17, 3/21, 3/30, & 4/1. Zack’s response on 4/1 said since they didn’t seal coat it the contract was void. I have an electronic copy of the estimate/contract; however, I never received a copy of it, with my signature. I told him, I would be contacting the BBB, and I requested a copy of the signed contract on 4/1. Since I didn’t hear anything, I followed on 4/4/20. Then on 4/5, I sent an email with an explanation of why we needed to get someone, other than him, to seal coat the driveway and again requested a copy of the signed contact. I also let him know I would be adding a complaint to the BBB. Again, no response. Then I reached out to Home Advisors. They have contacted home 2 or 3 time, by phone and email. He has not responded to them, either.
Description of Work: I needed to have the driveway replaces, and needed the new one to hold up, for a few years.
