Brian does quality work. He was also very patient with me when I tweaked the design numerous times and when a miscommunication resulted in him having to do some rework. He did accidentally damage the screen in our front door but fixed it. There were a couple of other minor issues that he also came back to fix with no issues. Job was completed on time and looked beautiful! He was sometimes a little slow to reply to emails but always did respond within a few days. We are now in talks with him do do some additional work on our house.
Description of Work: We live in a small house with only 1 full bath that desperately needed to be remodeled. We were on a very tight budget though. Brian was recommended to us by a neighbor who knew him. We hired Brian after the first meeting because his price was reasonable, he listened to what we wanted, was willing to let us do the demolition and finishing work to save money, and said the job could be completed in two weeks (which was important since we would have no shower during the remodel).

Brian and his crew showed up as scheduled. They hung plastic sheeting to contain the dust generated from ripping out the v, building a new end frame to the exposed opening between the different ceiling elevations, installing new drywall and plastering/ sanding the ceiling. Pot lights were installed in the desired locations and dimmer switches, that can work with LEDs in the future, were installed to handle the light sin three zones. Brian and his crew cleaned up daily and managed to keep the dust from spreading outside of the work area. Work was done in a totally satisfactory fashion and Brian and his crew were a pleasure to deal with.
Description of Work: Ceiling in living room had a v shaped extension from a lower section over our piano to the rest of the living room. Also the ceiling was uneven with 'waves' from the way the ceiling drywall was attached to the joists. Brian and his crew removed the v shaped extension and plastered over the depressions in the ceiling to give it a more even look. Installed 10 pot lights in the ceiling.

Everything started smoothly. We probably made few mistakes. One was not giving Brian a completion date. When he asked if we had any vacation planned I thought that meant that he would be working on our project until completion. About half-way thru the project Brian goes for a weeks vacation and then after he comes back his helper goes on vacation. My fault though because I kept telling Brian no hurry. Second mistake, after we approved the design we should have gone over with Brian exactly what we wanted IN the cabinets; lazy-susans, utensil trays, etc. I wound up with a cabinet that was supposed to have skinny dividers so I can store my baking pans and that was a disaster, they put in two very thick dividers and I could only get 3 or 4 pans in. With the skinnier dividers all my pans would have fit. Brian did have someone come out and sort of router out one of the dividers but that did not help as much as it would have, had they been the correct width to begin with. I still have one large divider wasting space. He gave me recycle bins for under the sink but they were really puny and I had him take them out. He did make me the pull down bins right under the sink above the cabinets that I can open and put my scrubbers so they do not have to lay on my beautiful granite but even those were not as nice as I would have picked. Again this is mostly my fault, I should have shown him exactly what I wanted. Brian is a design genius but when it comes to the guts he needs a little help. I loved the fact that I could trust Brian and his crew explicitly and could go to work all day with no worries. When I came home, most of the time they were gone and they left things really nicely cleaned up.
Description of Work: Met Brian Martin of Master's Craft Construction at the Home Show in Oaks, PA. While talking to him mentioned that I want to have my kitchen remodeled but have to pay over $25,000 to get a new roof first. (Guy who put my current roof on was out to fix a gutter and told me I needed a new roof and this was his estimate). A few days later Brian called and said he hoped I didn't mind but he took a drive down past my house and no way should a new roof cost that much. (His dad was in the roofing business so Brian learned this trade also.) Because of Brian's honesty I hired him to do my kitchen. My house was build in the late 70's so everything was old and worn out in the kitchen. Builder used cheap cabinets. Floor was a dark old linoleum. Not enough storage for me and I wanted an island. Also an ugly half wall between the kitchen and family room so wanted to open up this area. Builder had put large soffits in and this was a waste. Also used large piping where flexible smaller would have given us more useable room. Brian met with us for an initial meeting to find out what we wanted in this remodel. He is a very good listener and when he brought the rough sketches to us it was amazing how he captured pretty much all we wanted in the remodel. There were some minor tweeks such as moving the microwave from one side of the kitchen to the other. Inlarging the island. Adding a window seat and shelves over the 3-section large window we had. He added a small unit over near where we come into the kitchen and that added a decorative as well as useful area for us to charge our cell phones and keep our keys as well as other things to display or hide away. Bottom had doors, top has open shelves. When we did not find the granite we wanted from his suppliers he worked with the folks at Colonial Granite and Marble to get the granite we found there. Whenever we did not like what he offered or found something we wanted he also worked with us. Another way Brian got us more room in the kitchen was to reinforce parts of a load bearing wall so he could put in an alcove of sorts so that our refrigerator would sit back and not stick out too far from the wall to wall cabinets on each side. Brian came in close to estimates. Only overages were for some plumbing, flashing around windows, electric that were not foreseeable until work was underway. And other overages were because we wanted upgrades on most everything! Brian had estimated $40-60K and total with appliances and granite we purchased on our own came to $70K. Our next project will be a new roof and I am hoping Brian will do that. Then we will be remodeling our bathrooms and yes, hope Brian will be able to do that also. I will gladly show my kitchen to anyone thinking of using Brian for their remodeling project.
