David Newmiller Chimney Sweep

Everything went very well - no complaints!

I called David on a Monday to try and set up a Saturday appointment to have my chimney swept. Although he was unable to come on Saturday, he inquired as to when I left and came home from work. He was able to come at 7am on Wednesday, so that I did not have to miss any work. He arrived right on time and did a thorough, and most importantly, clean job. He finished in about 45 minutes as he anticipated.

I left a message and a week has gone by and I did not get a return call.

Chimney and flue were cleaned properly,quickly and with no mess.

I wasn't home, he was polite with my wife. He cleaned out the gutters in the front. There was a gutter in the back that didn't need cleaned out but it was out of adjustment. He repaired that as well.

Very well. We called Mr. Newmiller to set up an estimate. His price was right- he was cleaning our gutters on a 3 story house and fixing one of the gutters. He did not need us to be home for the work so he put us on the schedule within a week and came to complete the work. Once he was working on the gutter repair, he decided that he needed another part to finish the job so he came back to complete the repair promptly on another day. Very good overall experience.

I called Dave on Friday and he was available to come out on Tuesday and quoted me a price over the phone. Dave arrived and immediately went to work. After he was done on the roof he asked me if I wanted him to fix a broken gutter for an additional $20. This was a no brainer for me since I did not have the ability to get up that high on the roof. The total job took less than an hour.

David called when they were on their way. When he and Steve arrived, they immediately went on to our very high roof, and realized we did not have a cap on our chimney, making it vulnerable to birds and pests and rain damage. We asked them to install it. They also cleaned the fireplace. When David noticed our dryer vent -- which is on our outside wall well above street level, he checked it out and discovered two birds nests in it . He pulled out the nests, then he and Steve vacuumed it and fashioned a screen to keep more birds out. I appreciated their extra effort and tipped them both.

He is a little bit older, extremely nice. I picked him based on his grade on Angie’s List. They are punctual, very nice, very personable and the kind of people you would want to hire again.

Responded quickly to my request. A fireplace smell in the house that lingers off and on. Mostly occurs on damp days. He cleaned out the chimney and fireplace. Recommended changing the door in the floor of the fireplace. He saw that the flashing around the fireplace might be a problem and suggested we get that looked at. He cleaned up, was efficient and prompt.

Mr. Newmiller is most professional, very friendly and extremely neat. He arrived on time, spread tarps around the fireplace area, vacuumed after cleaning the chimney and left the area immaculate. He also cleaned out my back raingutter while he was up on the roof without charging me (said he was up there anyway).

When I initially called, Mr. Newmiller he answered promptly and gave me a estimate of $80 by phone since he was familiar with homes in our area. He did not show for that appointment. I called for another estimate from another company and the lowest they would quote was much higher. I tried Mr. Newmiller back and he apologized for his mix-up. He did come on the day and time of the new appointment. He did a very good and professional job. I would definitely use his service again. He left no evidence of his service, cleaned all the debris from the area and also some debris that were on the roof in addition to the gutters. He also said he took a quick look at the chimney while he was up there and all looked clean and in good condition. I felt that was extremely nice of him and found him to be honest. He could have pushed a chimney service that I didn't need, but he didn't do that.

I really appreciated David Newmiller's expertise, honesty, professionalism, workmanship, and kind, gentle manner. I would highly recommend him and will continue to use him to clean my gutters, as well as any unanticipated chimney work. I will also be sharing my positive experience with all of my neighbors.

He did some initial work but never followed up. I think he was very friendly and seemed very helpful. It was a very basic job and I was disappointed I never heard from him again. He made it clear that the other job was more complicated and might be out of his league. His price was very reasonable. He showed up when he said he would and answered questions. I would recommend him to people that needed basic work.

Mr. Newmiller was responsive from the initial phone call. He was able to come to our house within days to perform routine cleaning. He arrived punctually, and professionally and neatly cleaned our fireplaces and chimneys. As they all needed caps, he did that as well. He also took the time to show me how the flues operated, the best way to check that the smoke is venting, and explained how to properly rid of ashes (as this is a new home to us and we were unfamiliar with wood burning fireplaces). He also picked up on the fact that I had small children in the home; I was so touched when he gave me a small, tattered piece of red velvet he found in my chimney (wink, wink) and told me to give it to my kids! My son and his friends were utterly astonished, and we now have our very own childhood version of the holy grail adorning our mantle. In a nutshell, 'above and beyond' is the best way to describe my whole experience. I quickly referred him to a neighbor who had him out the same week and with the same results! Thank you, Mr. Newmiller!

It went very well. He was on time, very sweet, and knew what he was doing.

Mr. Newmiller never returned my telephone call requesting an estimate to repair my gutters.

Mr. Newmiller was quick and flexible in scheduling an appointment, and told me up front on the phone how much he charged for the service. He arrived right on time and was professional. He pointed out a number of areas where he discovered some problems (crack in a downspout, possible improper angle of a gutter), but merely suggested that he could correct them anytime I decided to call back but did not offer a "hard sell" which I appreciate.

Mr. Newmiller was punctual and professional. I tried to call him the night before the work was scheduled to reschedule to another day but he didn't get my message, and still showed up at the time we had first agreed, which is why I gave him "B" for responsiveness. We were pleased with Mr. Newmiller's work and would hire him again.

He did a great job of the gutters and got to all of the difficult places. He was clean and put the leaf mulch in the places we wanted. He tested the down spouts and told me they were clean. We needed new down spout guards which I went and got but he charged me $80 to put them up. I thought that was a bit high as he had not supplied them and was up on the ladders any way. I will use him again as he did do a good job and came when he said.

This was my second time working with Dave. He cleaned my fireplace chimney last February. He's a pleasure to work with and did a great job. This is a small company which I think is a really *good* thing because he personally did the work himself and I knew it was being done the right way. He didn't try to sell me unnecessary and expensive goods. He and his assistant have been in this business a very long time and are highly skilled tradesmen. He's also funny, down-to-earth, honest and personable. It was an all around good experience.

Mr. Newmiller arrived right on time, performed the work quickly, and left no mess for us to clean. He was friendly, but professional.

He came very quickly after I placed the call to him, and was exactly on time. He was extremely courteous and friendly.

We called David and he was very responsive, he came out surveyed the problem, found the leak and then came back and fixed everything. He was very honest and fair in his pricing and great to work with.
