They were excellent. We wanted the job done very quickly - before Thanksgiving. Bill came out and took measurements to give us quotes/bids for 2 other major jobs (kitchen and bath remodeling) that we're planning to do over the next 2-3 years, and he measured and discussed the job for squeezing the cubby hole job in right away. At first we thought the price to be a bit daunting, but we really wanted it done so we moved ahead. It was a one-man job. Within 2 weeks I had the quote and the job was done. We were completely amazed at the quality put into this job. The space looks like a room, with a recessed/pocket door entry to maximize the space, recessed lighting, outlet, etc. Better than top notch. It's amazing! They were timely, clean, and professional the whole way through. I would hot hesitate to use them again or refer them... you get what you pay for - and we're thrilled!
Description of Work: Finished a "cubby hole" under our stairway into a small storage or play area.

Needed the work done quickly and they responded. Did all the necessary work in two days and also handled a few extra repairs in other parts of the house. Very good quality work, exceptional attention to detail, very professional, and careful. I would recommend them to friends, neighbors, and strangers.

Mr. Finkbone completed the plans for the project in a very timely manner and submitted a professional estimate for the cost, including a detailed breakdown of expenses. He then directed us to local tile and plumbing outlets to select the materials. Workers (3) arrived punctually every day and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. They were friendly and courteous always - a pleasure to have in the house. The workmanship on the tile, trim and vanity was very professional. The project was completed in 9 days (ahead of schedule). Cost was accurately adjusted for elements we chose which cost less/more than estimated. We couldn't be more pleased with the final product! Everything went seamlessly from start to finish. We will definitely call Mr. Finkbone again for our next remodeling project
Description of Work: "Gutted" existing bathroom, including removal of vinyl flooring, tub, shower and vanity. Then, installed tile walk-in shower, tile flooring throughout and installed beautiful hardwood vanity and cabinetry.

They did a wonderful job. Bill and his main person, Dave, arrived on time and worked the entire time they were there. There is nothing I can fault in their work. Very responsive when I had a question or concern. I would definitely have them again!

We were on a tight schedule to get the project complete in time for some family events. The work started on time and actually finished a day early. Everything went like clockwork. The workers were professional and respectful of the rest of the property and the neighbors. Everything was cleaned up at the end of each day. As an Engineer that works in construction, I can be a little picky, but I couldn't find anything to complain about. The quality of work was extremely high and the material recommendations worked out very well. We've used Finkbone before and will continue to do so. Bill Finkbone was very professional. He provided us with a very detailed specification and estimate. We had talked to other Contractors and they provided only verbal quotes or very sketchy scopes. There was no question with Finkbone about what we were buying. Finkbone's price may not be the lowest, but you don't want the lowest. His prices are fair and he stands behind his work. That's why he's been in business for over 25 years.
Description of Work: Finkbone Remodeling removed our cracked concrete patio and 25 year old wooden deck. They installed a great concrete paver patio with a separate circular area for a fire pit. They replaced the deck with a composite material and new vinyl railing. They also removed some 45 year old shrubs and installed new plantings.

Everything went very well. The closet was by far the largest of the jobs, and my wife and I are very pleased with the results. Bill and team were very accommodating with our schedule - although we closed on 3/22 we didn't plan on moving in till 4/9. This gave them a small window to finish all the work - they were able to do just that. As in all my previous engagements with Finkbone Remodeling, I am completely satisfied customer. Good quality, neat and clean, and good, consistent communication throughout the process. Once we get settled into the new place, I am sure we'll be calling them for more work!
Description of Work: I contracted with Finkbone Remodeling for our new home in Enola. We had them quote for a new closet in the Master Bedroom and for other odds and ends - installing pendant lights, fans in all the bedrooms, and vanity mirrors. All work was completed as per schedule on April 5th. Mr. Finkbone originally gave us a written quote for all the work that we wanted done, and after a sit-down review session, we signed off on the order.

After 20 years, the painted masonry retaining wall at our rental unit business was starting to crumble and move. Finkbone Construction partially removed the existing wall and replaced it with a segmented locking block wall system complete with stone base, drainage and cap stones. The wall is on a business property where access could not be blocked to customers. Finkbone completed the work quickly and professionally. Several customers commented on the quality of the workmanship and asked for Finkbone's contact information. While onsite, I had them do some siding repair work which also ended up being very reasonable in price. If I need other work done at our business, this will be the first place I'll call. I'm not normally anxious to give recommendations, but in this case I would be remiss if I did not give Finkbone Remodeling and Construction a good one. There are too many questionable companies out there that won't be around for long. I want to make sure he is around when I need more work done.

A very positive experience - the basement was the largest project Bill did for us, but over the years I have used their services countless other times with costs ranging from $500 - $4000 - replacing screen door, clean-up after basement flooding, replacement of bathroom fixtures, lighting repairs, etc. I have always had a great experience with Finkbone Remodeling, regardless of project size, and I will continue to use them in the future - if you're looking for an honest, dedicated, professional re-modeler, Bill is your man!
Description of Work: When I was looking to have our basement finished, I contacted several companies to come in an quote. Most, provided 'back-of-the-napkin' type quotes. With Bill, I got a professional quote with all the cost details clearly spelled out. I ended up going with Finkbone Remodeling based on a recommendation we had from friends in Harrisburg that had used their services. Bill's team was courteous and professional from start to finish. We had about 75% of our basement finished, which included a full-bathroom. Bill kept us fully informed of the schedule throughout the project, and even accommodated a change in scope mid-way through - we decided to relocate our washer-dryer from the first floor kitchen area to the basement. This required quite a bit of prep in the basement, as there was no dryer vent, electrical capacity, etc. His team accomplished the move without a hitch, and we were able to reuse the first floor space as a mud closet. Note: The project started in the middle of winter with tons of snow outside - Bill's team was very neat and clean, and our house remained the way it was even it with foot traffic of the workers.

Our kitchen replacement performed by Finkbone Remodeling and Construction could not have gone any smoother. Mr. Finkbone (Bill) helped us design a very efficient layout and make the best use of our space. The project included cherry cabinets, quartz countertop and ceramic tile backsplash. Bill's guys did everything themselves including modifying our old kitchen table so it would blend in with the new kitchen. The project was completed on schedule and there were no extra charges. Bill's recommendations for materials and fixtures were also spot on. Bill's crew cleaned up every day. Bill has done other projects for us both at our home and business and will continue to be our contractor of choice.

The job turned out great. Our house looks new and our heating bills have been reduced significantly. One unexpected benefit is that our house is now quieter as a result of the insulation and windows. Finkbone's crew was experienced and paid attention to detail. They even tried to work on quieter items first thing in the morning while some were still inside the house sleeping. They respected the property and cleaned up at the end of every day. The guys arrived on the start date and were complete right on time even with some weather issues. One concern that never materialized was whether or not the house would be "exposed" to the elements and possibly damaged during summer thunderstorms. We got the storms, but the house was always buttoned up tight and there was no damage.I would definitely use Finkbone Remodeling and Construction again.
Description of Work: Replaced the siding, windows and shutters on our house. They also blew in insulation from the outside and wrapped the house with Tyvex before installing the new vinyl siding.

We have used Finkbone Remodeling several times over the years. Most recently was replacing exterior wood work on our home. Our previous experiences include a patio roof addition, front door replacement and extensive repair work following tornado damage to our home. We have had only positive experiences with Bill and his crew, including Dave, Bill's right hand man. Work has always been done timely and within the estimate. We have always been impressed with Bill's attention to detail. He is not one to cut corners. The repair of the tornado damage to our home was extensive. We had about $80,000 of total damages. Needless to say it was a stressful time for us. Bill and Dave got us back into our home quicker than most of our neighbors. There was obviously a lot of work to be done, from structural repair to siding and painting. Bill and the guys did a great job. Bill also helped us a great deal in dealing with the insurance adjuster.

Overall it could not have gone better. The Finkbone crew showed up as scheduled ready to go to work with some of the materials already prepared in their shop ... saving time and mess in the field (i.e. our house ;-)). The outdoor light was removed, rewired and relocated perfectly ... no remnants of the ugly old install and a seamless install of the new ... beautiful. The red oak wood trim installed is beautiful. It was matched the existing 1"x12" red oak and seamlessly tied into and matched the existing trim in a way that made everything more sturdy and more beautiful. OH, I almost forgot to mention ... this trim installation included 'installing' light switches in the trim itself! Dave (Field Construction Lead) is in his wheelhouse when it comes to finishing/trim/cabinet carpentry and it shows in the quality of his work. The existing exterior vinyl siding was removed and replaced with new vinyl siding. And again the new siding seamlessly matches/blends with the existing siding. The Finkbone crew also did all the "under the siding" repair before installing the new siding. We didn't want to just cover up "evils" we wanted this job done right :) They also wrapped our house for enhanced insullation and air penetration before the siding was installed. The Finkbone crew started on time and finished ahead of schedule ... mostly because Dave was willing to stay late one day to get everything done inside so as to not have to return and impose any more than necessary. This is nice because then we could move forward with interior decorating sooner. We don't know when our next construction project will kick off but we do know that when it does ... it will begin with a call to Bill Finkbone Construction the gang for sure. Great guys, great quality work, at a great price!
Description of Work: This was the third project that we used Finkbone Remodeling for this year (2012) and we couldn't be happier that we found these guys. We are $1000's of dollars richer than if we'd chosen other proposals and our homes are way more awesome than they were in January 2012 ... Happy New Year!! For this project, Mr Bill Finkbone and his construction leader Dave needed to (1) remove existing outdoor light wiring and rewire the inside switch to a new outdoor light and location, (2) design and install interior wood trim (finishing carpentry), and (3) remove and install new vinyl siding. Again, Mr Bill Finkbone, Finky they call him, was prompt to respond for our request to have the project evaluated and estimated. In additon to providing us a price for the work to be done ... Finky provided us with a few IDEAS and DESIGN as to how we could do it better. This was great and we did go with 2-3 of his suggestions! We needed wood trim installed to cover (hide) ugly wiring in a wall that was framed but that we has remodeled to be exposed brick. We had a light outside that was ugly, high up in the apex of the roof (2 stories) and unreachable ... not to mention the wire running outside the siding to the light!!, and we had four different sidings that we wanted redone so that it was all the same style & color. Mr Finkbone promptly provided an estimate via email with all the project phases broken down and priced individually. We could work with him via email to quickly get answers to our questions and modify the proposal as needed and to our liking/comfort. We were able to schedule the work in a timeframe that suited OUR needs and schedule ... we liked that because we were out of town for a week.

It went very well. Mr Bill Finkbone showed up when scheduled to go over job and provide an estimate. Within 3 days we had an estimate via email that we could review, ask questions, and tweak to perfections. Finky, as he likes to be called, was responsive to our questions and modifications ... so everything happened without delay. The job was scheduled quickly for 3-4 weeks out and the timing fit our schedule well. The Finkbone crew showed up on time each day and actually finished a day ahead of schedule ... we liked that for many reasons. One because the basement 'exposure' was minimized and two, we could move forward with our inside decorating sooner than planned. The Finkbone crew did secure the basement by putting up temporary walls at the end of each day ... we loved that!! We plan to use Finkbone Remodeling for a third project in December 2012 and we hope to again review Finkbone Remodeling positively on Angie's List upon completion of that project. Many thanks to Bill Finkbone and Dave (construction lead) for a job well done.
Description of Work: Mr Bill Finkbone and his crew (Dave and Brian) removed existing, exposed basement wall and foundation and rebuilt the foundation and walls ... addressing related electrical and plumbing needs as necessary. The wall of our exposed basement was built 'on the dirt' ... no foundation to keep the wooden frame and siding from rotting. Consequently we needed to have the rotted wall (framing and siding) removed, a cement foundation built, and new framing built and siding installed. In this effort ... electrical work and plumbing needed to be removed with old wall/siding and re-installed with new wall/siding. I always recommend that people get the most detailed proposal they can. If there is something you want/expect to be done and it is not listed to your satisfaction ... make sure it's added and you are satisfied with how it's spelled out. THAT said ... this is the 2nd time we've used Finkbone Remodeling this year (2012) and this has NOT been an issue but has been with nearly every other contractor we've used. That's what we LIKE about Finky ... no shortcuts, no nickle-and-diming you ... just working to make sure the job is done right and we are happy.

Very well AND on time AND within budget :)
Description of Work: Finky completely gutted and rebuilt our redesigned two room, master bath and walk-in closet. Our bath is two rooms and approximately 150 square feet. Finky ( Brian & Dave) replaced all the cabinetry, installed ceramic tile floor and shower, installed Cambria counter tops, rewired, and repainted ... what didn't they do!?! These guys kept everything clean, every day. This was no small task given the size of the project and the project's location within our house ... second floor, adjacent (they had to walk through) our master bedroom. Funky did what was expected and did not deviate from our specifications as so often is the case. If they did ... it was to our benefit and not to his desire to cut corners/decrease costs. Go with Finky & Dave ... You'll be glad you did! But boy, was submitting this review tricky ... Angie, can you make it easier & less 'buggy'?
