Poorly. Do you want to get really angry at overcharges and inefficency? Hire these guys. We, unfortunately, contracted with Home Depot to intall a kitchen countertop in our home. It was a fiasco from start to finish. Capitol Installation was the sub-contractor that Home Depot sent out to give us an estimate as to how much the prep for the installation and post installation was going to cost. When we eventually went to the store to look over the paperwork for the job - which took them a few weeks to get together - we could not believe some of the charges. For example - 320.00 to disconnect the sink, 435.00 to reconnect the sink after the countertop was installed. I was born at night - but not last night! Suddenly the price of the countertop that we thought we were getting a decent deal on was not such a good deal. By going over the paperwork line by line, we eliminated nearly all of the inflated charges. Only three things were left: build up for the new counter, trim work and removing the old countertop. When the countertop installers came I was told that if they did the build up Capitol had proposed, the countertop would not fit under the existing tile and that we would have to remove a row of tile. We eliminated the buildup and trim work. So Capitol Installation sent out a guy to take out the old countertop, I had hired a different plumber to to the disconnect ahead of time and reconnect after the counter was in. On the paperwork it stated that the removal would cost 199.00 and they were charging 85.00 to haul it away. How much is 199.00 and 85.00? 284.00 you say? Nope, after the fact we find out that they charge a 520.00 minimum just for someone to show up. So the guy who came to take out the countertop was here for 45 minutes no parts, just labor - and it cost us 520.00. Needless to say, I was not happy with any aspect of this transaction. I will never hire Capitol Installation or Home Depot to do anything - and I mean anything again!

Response from CAPITOL INSTALLATION CORP
Dear Member, I believe you have us mistaken for another company. Capital City Counters has never been a subcontractor for Home Depot. I am sorry to hear about your experience but I assure you it was not with Capital City Counters.

We had removed some of the cabinetry prior to the contractor showing up. This way we could make some wall and ceiling repairs ahead of the contractors visit. Only one contractor (Dan Snyder) did the entire job, was always on time, worked all day, notified us when he would be late (usually to restock) and when he was leaving for the day, was pleasant to work around, cleaned up after himself, and was masterful in his problem solving (there are always problems). The job took about two weeks, and turned out better than expected and was beautiful. The house sold in two days! Occasional communication with the office was always pleasant and productive, with good follow up.
Description of Work: The company was contracted through the hardware store in Shrewsbury, PA to renovate a kitchen by removing old cabinets, and installing new cabinets, appliances, sink, disposal, new outlets and under counter and recessed lighting. The cost was only for the installation. Cabinets, appliances, granite countertops, lighting, etc. was already purchased.
