These people are incredible. So responsive, professional, and honest. Their bid, once again, underbid the other contractors. We have a large screened in porch that needed actual windows and a new door put in so that we could use it for more of the year. They had them all installed within a week of my call. They are prompt, courteous, clean up after themselves, and finish the job when they promise at the price quoted. I would highly recommend this company to anybody.
Description of Work: We have used Bob Sheetz Roofing on three different occasions for roofing and window needs. The latest service was in September to replace all the windows in our enclosed porch. They also replaced a door.

They went out in July 2015 and provided an estimate for the ENTIRE roof (front and back shingles plus vents in back) and middle flat roof plus also wrapping front windows with vinyl siding. My son closed in late July. I called them back in late August to ask some questions about the estimate. They never got back to me. I again called them back in mid September as we wanted to schedule the roofing and they had never responded to the questions. I had to speak with the ladies in the office about 3 times until Mr. Sheetz got back to me. He said he'd go back to the property so he could answer my questions about the wrapping of the wood in the front two dormer windows. HE then sent me an estimate for the roof which was about TWICE the cost of the estimate done in July! The prices of shingles have gone down since then. He refused to revise the estimate and was very nasty and quite frankly, sounded confused and not with it. I WOULD NEVER USE THEM. THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE, RESPONSIVE AND ENGAGE IN BAIT AND SWITCH TACTICS. They'll probably respond that the first estimate was only for 1/2 of the shingled roof. THAT IS LAUGHABLE. I asked for the entire roof. The front roof facing N 3rd is in the worst shape. The "new" estimate is exactly the same language. Unfortunately, Harrisburg requires roofers to be specially licensed which really limits the pool of roofers. Sheetz wanted $11,000 for a small (18 feet by @ 35 feet of shingles) and a flat rubber roof (18 ft X 14 ft). This is highway robbery. DO NOT USE THEM.
Description of Work: I had asked for an estimate for the entire roof of a house my son was contracted to purchase in July 2015.

Response from Bob Sheetz Roofing & Siding Co LLC
In response to the consumer's comments, I will say there was confusion from the beginning concerning several items on this estimate. I personally spoke to the consumer and there were several changes that were requested. After a couple telephone conversations we revised the original estimate for an entire shingle roof installation, rubber roof on the flat portion and additional metal work that was not included in the first estimate. The price differential on the second estimate was under $300.00 and we were again not sure what the problem actually was. We have never used a bait and switch tactic of any kind since starting our business in April 1978 and have been licensed and fully insured since our company began. The final contact was a phone conversation between myself and the consumer that apparently did not satisfy their concerns or understanding of what we proposed. We will continue to strive for customer satisfaction, prompt responsiveness and integrity in our community.

The initial estimate did not provide a number of important details. Had do be questioned about specific details in a subsequent estimate. Did not use materials specified in estimate. Lied about using same. Lied about being a GAF certified/registered installer. Did not register shingle warranty with GAF. Office staff ignorant of warranty re gistration requirements. Could care less about being on Angies list. .Did not state labor warranty in initial estimate.

I will attempt to address your complaints and concerns in the following statement: I reviewed your estimate and invoice and it did state we offer a 5 year workmanship warranty. Our practice has always been to include the warranty issues on the final invoice. All materials installed were exactly what you had requested and we were extremely surprised on the D rating. We are a licensed GAF installer and have been for many years without the certification title. Being on a certification list costs thousands of dollars and would allow us to sell an extended warranty, which is not needed, because the majority of consumers choose the Lifetime Architectural Shingles to be installed on their roofing projects. Our office is family run and certainly cares about our company's reputation and integrity. We started our business in April 1978 and have served the east and west shores and surrounding communities making customer service and satisfaction a top priority. We care greatly concerning our presence on Angie's List and consider it a privilege, not a right, to be represented in their magazine and advertise through the internet. As far as our punctuality and responsiveness we were puzzled about the C rating. The estimate was given on March 24, 2015 and the roof was completed on April 13th and paid in full on April 15th with no apparent complaint issues at that time of final payment. I would have thought that was more than a reasonable amount of time from beginning to the completion of your home roofing project especially just coming out of a very hard winter. One of my responsibilities is to instruct my office staff pertaining to preparing the warranty forms, however, due to several medical issues at that time I was delayed in that process and I do apologize for the delay. Hopefully I have answered your concerns and you would be much more satisfied than previously stated.

Description of Work: Removed flat rubber roof and stone/tar roof down to wood. Installed new rubber roof. They started within a week of the signed contract and finished the job in 1 day. Everything was cleaned up when they left and it was a messy job removing the original roof. It hasn't rained yet but I assume the install is well done.

I had gotten several estimates for a ?past its life? shingle roof that needed replaced. Bob Sheetz roofing was the only company to be able to do the work in a timely fashion and with a very favorable estimate for the work to be completed. While I was somewhat surprised to see one worker show up, he promptly pulled the trailer up to the roof and proceeded to tear off a rather large portion of the roof in one day. He later explained that several of his crew needed off so he would be back tomorrow (Saturday) to shingle the portion torn off since rain was in the forecast, and they would then finish up the remainder of the roof thereafter. (Kudos in my book, good to employees and the customer) The work was completed in a few days as promised with absolutely no mess to be found around the house. Two days after completing the roof during a heavy rain storm I discovered a small leak around an existing skylight, I called and a crew showed up the very next morning, completely removed the new roofing just done and fixed the area around what I have learned was a poorly installed (not by Bob Sheetz roofing) skylight which was allowing water to puddle. Bottom line to this customer is they came back, and did the fix the right way; did not take any short cuts with the repair! Even re-installed for me heat tape around gutters on a low pitch roof on the side of house. Great Job & Great Customer Service in my book. I have some gutters and other items to be done; I will be calling them to come back.

It went great. We sold the house the next week. His estimate was quite a bit lower than the other estimates I had received. There were 2-4 guys working on it at different times and they finished in three days.
Description of Work: They tore off my old roof and replaced two or three sheets of plywood before putting a new roof on.
After comparing quotes with Evanoff & Son, we opted for this provider due to the difference in cost. Mr. Sheetz arrived promptly for the estimate and said that the project would take approximately 4 days to complete. One item was missing from the initial estimate, however, the office quickly sent out an updated quote on 6/26, which was $4800 + cost of plywood for roofing. After sending in the signed agreement, siding and roof samples were dropped off for us to choose from. Bad weather caused the project to be delayed for a few weeks. Work began on 7/21. In the first two days, the roof, windows, and entry door were installed. Due to the age and condition of the garage (~1930) nothing was square. We called Mr. Sheetz several times to ask for certain details to be fixed, such as squaring the window frame and fixing gaps in the garage doors. He was always prompt to respond to our calls. His employees did an excellent job addressing our concerns considering the state that the garage was in. They were very professional and cleaned up the work area after each day. The project was delayed again for several days to deliver the siding that we selected. Mr. Sheetz called us to ask if we would like an alternative. We opted to go with our original choice. Work resumed the following week, albeit at a slower pace. The remaining items (siding, garage doors, touch up work) took several more days to complete with work finishing around 8/4. Mr. Sheetz did not require a down payment and only asked for payment after we were satisfied with the work. He stopped by several times to review the progress of construction and explain any challenges that came up. Ultimately, the initial estimate of 4 days was accurate, although there were gaps between the work that resulted in the project taking several weeks. Overall, I am pleased with the work that was completed and would recommend this business for exterior home remodeling.
Description of Work: Remodeled exterior of existing detached single-car garage. This included: replacing roof plywood, underlay, and shingles, installing entry door, two windows, house wrap, siding, and constructing swing-out garage doors.
