The contractor was knowledgeable and very professional and did a great job. He showed me pictures of the completed work and I couldn't be more satisfied. I would definitely use this company again. The office was also very helpful in setting up the appointment.

He did a really good job for us and also helped with our latch placements on other doors that weren't properly latching properly.

I am so disappointed to give a negative review; I never had to do this before on Angie's List. Dryer vent installation, leveling a new washing machine and estimates for two future projects were what I needed. With the exception of some duct tape, which was needed for the dryer vent, I had all the necessary materials. The charges for services were clearly explained. However, I was not informed that two handymen would be coming. The bottom line is that I was charged $85.00 for the first hour and the additional 15 minute fee for each handyman. What I thought would take one person about 1 1/2 to 2 hours maximum, came to a total for 3 1/2 hours labor. The total bill was $332.50. When I questioned the necessity of using two handymen I was told first, it was because it was the one handyman's first day on the job and, second, the time would be less if two handymen did the work. But I must again emphasize that I was charged for 3 1/2 hours labor. Seems a bit excessive to me. I rely on Angie's List to help me find the right people for the job. I thought after reading the reviews and asking direct questions of the company, I would be comfortable using them for home projects. But I choose to not deal with a company that is not forthcoming with all aspects of their billing practices. This is very bad form. This is an addendum to my review of 4/17/2015: Since then, I was contacted by Heather the general manager. We had a long detailed conversation which afforded me a great deal of satisfaction. I have been offered a partial refund of labor charges, for which I am very grateful, and an offer for another handyman to come and again attempt to balance my washing machine. This follow up contact with Heather, which by the way was an exemplary display of high quality customer service, has given me the assurance that I will be comfortable considering Handy Man Matters for future projects.

The call was made to Handyman Matters on March 31 and we got an appointment the next day. Kevin showed up to see what materials would be needed for the sprayer and went to get the part. When he returned the job was done quickly. While we had wanted to have the dryer vent just cleaned it didn't work out that way. It turns out the vent was very old and started to degenerate while Kevin worked on it. He showed me the problem (this explained why there was dust all over the laundry room for months) and said that the vent was very old and was mostly clogged (a real fire hazard). Kevin went and got material to replace the vent altogether and was done shortly after that. Kevin was knowledgeable, polite, answered questions and cleaned up after he was done. Good work.

The installation of the new mailbox was perfect. Handyman Matters of Harrisburg did a textbook installation: the new post was dug deep enough for the new mailbox to be rock-solid and our new mailbox is straighter than any other mailbox in the neighborhood. The charge for the service was $300 which seemed fair to high, but the quality of the work was excellent. You get what you pay for, which in this case we hope to be a mailbox that outlives our tenure in the house.

They had very good ratings and service awards that is why we chose them. They had expertise in general projects and that is what we were looking for because we had a variety of things that we needed to be done and some of the other contractors were more specialized it seems- a lot of them focused on bigger jobs like renovating a deck or doing particular tasks really well. This company was focused on doing smaller jobs -in general what every one needs. They sent one person and he worked for one day-all day. He was punctual and courteous. We are not very experienced in dealing with contractors -so we had a lot of questions and he was very helpful in answering the questions. He was very methodological in the way he did his work- he spent time preparing and working, and keeping us informed every step of the way.

We had them twice. It was per hour and I think we had them for about two or two and a half hours. Their work was excellent. The only thing that surprised me was, they had a fee for a first time use. And they said the fee would be waived if we used them within 30 days again. It really wasn’t that they quoted say $85 a hour, it was really $85 plus $25 or something like that, in addition. I thought that was not really very accurate. When they say it is such and such an hour, but by the way if you have never used us, we are going attach this other cost on to it. The gentleman was very polite and competent. He didn't dawdle around, he seemed to get right to his job. There is nothing that I could say was negative about him. There was something that he couldn’t do and I am trying to think what it was, and he said he wasn’t comfortable with doing it, so he didn’t do it. It was something electrical. It was a fairly short time from when we called to when we got service, may be 3 or 4 days. We were satisfied with everything he did.

The job is still in progress, but I have been pleased so far with their responsiveness and flexibility.

Prompt and professional estimate. Work began on schedule. Three different workers at different times. I was asked to order tile, vanity top, and light/fan. There were errors in all 3. These caused considerable delay. In retrospect, I wish one contractor had ordered all 3 and taken responsibility for any errors so I wouldn't have had all the anxiety around this. However, installer was excellent problem solver, and I was happy with the final results. Quality of the work was high. Workers and managers were likable and professional. Some delay with final details and wrapping up the loose ends. I am happy with the results ,but the process could have been smoother with one person working full-time on the whole project. I have used Handyman Matters before and will definitely use them again on smaller projects. They do good work!

the gate now closes properly, just needed to be taken apart and realigned, the old ceiling tiles were removed, new ones were cut to size, the light was taken down and put back up, new ceiling tiles were installed. I had purchased the tiles. Kitchen looks good again

Handyman Matters has provided various "handyman" type work at my office and home for several years. EVERY job has been performed to our satisfaction. Their service staff is always professional. Their office staff is always responsive. You will not be disappointed in any work they perform from the smallest task (replacing a motion sensor light) to bathroom remodels (two!)

They came out the same day and wrote me out an estimate. I spoke with Heather, who very nice and courteous, the gentleman who came out was also incredibly nice and they had gotten my estimate back within 2 days. Turns out we didn't need to do this before we had closed on our new home, so we plan on getting the work done in the Spring instead.

The young man did a surpurb job and we would have him or another craftsman from his company out for more work as we can.

The estimate was very accurate and the work was performed as described, on time and on budget.

I had called 2 roofing companies and could not get them to come look at the problem. Handyman Matters sent someone out to look at the problem the week after I called and they gave me a ballpark estimate to make the repairs. They did not charge for the estimate. I scheduled the work to be completed within 2 weeks of receiving the estimate. They worked with me to schedule the work at a time convenient for me and also for when the weather forecast was favorable. The repairman (Scott) arrived on time and began working. He removed the siding where needed and found the source of the leak to be incorrectly installed flashing. He repaired the flashing and also removed and replaced the shingles and roofing that had rotted. Scott advised me the flashing was incorrectly installed and was pushing the siding away from the house all along the top of the roof. He told me he could fix it if I wanted him to, even though it wasn't absolutely necessary. Since he was available and I figured it may cause a problem later on, I decided to let him go ahead and fix it. Scott had to go get some materials, but quickly returned and worked hard to get the work done just before dark (4-1/2 hours). I had to pay a service charge on the repair visit and also a charge for disposal of the old shingles and roofing. But I did get a $25 Angies List discount! I was very happy to get my roof repaired before winter as the leak would have only gotten worse. I would not hesitate to call Handyman Matters again.

Handyman Matters was one of the few contractors who contacted us for this small job. They were prompt in contacting us and giving us an estimate, on time in doing the work and completed it to our satisfaction. I would use them again for similar types of jobs.

We've been extremely happy with the work done by the folks at Handyman Matters, which is why we kept coming back to them time and again. When a project was started, they stayed on it until it was done and within the estimated time. If a modification was required by the inspector, the HM foreman was ready with recommendations and solutions. When we had to be off-site, HM gave us regular updates on progress and frequently sent images of the work being done. That's not to say that every project was sunshine and roses. With any complex project, there is bound to be the occasional bump in the road. As I noted above, we were required to be off-site when a staircase rebuild was being done. The lion's share of the work was done efficiently and to our satisfaction. We were disappointed upon our return, however, with some of the finish and trim details. This is where choosing HM made all the difference. Erin, the owner, was on-site immediately to evaluate the problem. She arranged for the detail work to be corrected with no hassle and definitely to our satisfaction.

They are very prompt and reasonably priced. They provide quality work and I have never had any issues.

I got an email that it would cost $400.00 to install the new one; I thought the price was too high so I did it myself.

It went extremely smooth. We were flexible with dates/times, so they were able to get our project done quickly. They picked up all the materials and have everything installed on schedule. They were great since we were working with a tight time-frame in preparing our home for sale.

Service person was very knowledgeable and personable. He did all the work very quickly without fuss. He finished the work and we are happy with the work he did.
