Gehman Design Remodeling

Description of Work: I met with the owner's son regarding some work we wanted done, including installing a tile floor in our kitchen, and remodeling the fireplace with some custom millwork. The price quote was so astronomical, I called to inquire if a mistake had been made. He said that no, this was the appropriate quote ...which for installing tile on kitchen floor (about 200 sq ft) the price was over $23,000. The tile itself was quoted at $6.50 per sq ft, so the installation was in the neighborhood of $20,000 for a modest sized kitchen. The fireplace work (for which the average quote from other contractors was around $4000), he quoted $14,000 as the "md-level" price. When I challenged him on pricing, asking if he felt comfortable quoting a figure 4-5 times higher than other, well-reputed contractors, he was steadfast in his conviction that the pricing was appropriate. Needless to say, I opted not to use Gehmans for our remodeling work.

Description of Work: I called thus company for an estimate on adding an addition to my home and they responded very promptly. I briefly described over the phone and before meeting me or seeing the home he told me an approximate price over the phone which seemed extremely high to me. However he did come out to evaluate the project and later emailed me with a very very high price madding that this was with no frills. Also asked me how I came up with a price whcich I never did. Having a experience with building an addition a few years ago with a highly respected contractor I kind of knew what to expect. Since the I have had estimates from contractors on Angies List and everyone is considerably lower. My opinion is to stay away from this company

Description of Work: I did not use them because they did not return my call for about 4 wks & I had gotten someone else to replace all my windows.

Description of Work: Got an estimate for remodeling a very small bathroom. The estimate prior to any further detailed discussions was the price of a new car (which, incidentally, I just bought - the square feet surface of the bathroom and my new car where the same, so I felt this was a bit too pricey).
