TOTAL HEATING & COOLING INC

Came to my apartment three times through Harrisburg Property Management charging me over $1000 for repairs on the cooling system that were newly installed less than 2 years ago. The first time charged $245 for diagnostics ( INCORRECTLY!!) and $260 for changing the switch and refused to get the parts from my manufacturer even I'm im still within warranty. Less than 2 weeks later, my tenant notified me whatever they have done, it was not working, they still had the same issue that the cooling got switched off. So they never fixed it the first time and took my $500. Came back 2nd time charged another $238 for another diagnostics, here is their findings - all worked property because my tenant did a reset! So they needed to come back again without being reset, came the third time - now they stated a different issue was identified and needed to add a hard start, they had the audacity to charge another $312. All in all I paid over $1000 and God knows if they actually fixed anything! Seriously DO NOT HIRE this company, it's clearly a SCAMMER!

Our experience with this company has been an utter disaster. They have had to install THREE hot water heaters in just 6 years because each one they put in continues to fail. Even though they should have all been under warranty, we have been forced to pay several hundred dollars for labor each time they replace their faulty equipment. The most recent replacement we were told was still under warranty as the last replacement was just 1.5 years ago. We hesitantly allowed them to reinstall a new unit. They had to come back the next day because it was leaking due to faulty craftsmanship. 8 weeks later they sent a bill for the double labor AND heater saying that the water heater was actually not under warranty because the warranty dates back to 6 years ago with the original install. So they did not stand behind their product or their installation. When we told them how unbelievable this whole experience was we gave them the opportunity to make it right one more time, agreeing to pay for the labor, but not for the hot water heater. They refused. They were very rude with their interactions even though they were to blame. We removed the hot water heater and had them pick it up today. The two companies who have come here to help us address the situation have been dumbfounded at the poor installation and the improper use of multiple types of metals in the pipes leading to the heater. Save yourself a colossal headache and a lot of money and call someone else!!

I cannot begin to praise Chuck and his crew at Total Heating enough. Completely professional, on time and on budget._x000D_ The installation would have to be coordinated with Eichelburger Well Drilling who would do all the outside work. (None of the other companies would agree to handle this part of the job; it would be up to me to go out and find well drilling companines)_x000D_|The job was delayed some weeks because of rainy weather and Chuck kept me aprised of the delays and why._x000D_|After the wells were dug (a 2.5 day job...perfectly done, all mud and debris removed promptly) the ductwork was put in, the Climate Master unit was quickly installed. ALl of the inside work was done by a bunch of guys who really knew what they were doing and without damaging or getting anything dirty._x000D_|The bid from Total Heating and Air Conditioning was thousands of dollars lower than all the other companies who bid on this project. (Five in all, including Sears, the most expensive.)_x000D_|Total Heating is the best! _x000D_|Period.

Chuck was courteous and realistic about the challenges involved in putting geothermal heating and cooling into our home. However, his load calculations were very strange; he recommended we needed a 6 ton unit, when everyone else (we talked to 5 contractors) suggested 2 or 3. That wouldn't necessarily mean that he was wrong, except we also had a professional energy audit done which put our load at 2.8 tons. So, I'm not sure how he runs load calculations for his HVAC installations, but it seems like he was very off in our case. We went with another company.

The interaction with them went very well. They did a wonderful job. We are very happy with it. They were very clean. They did a nice job of cleaning up at the end of each day. We are very happy with them. They did a good job of working with us like where we wanted to place the vents and things like that.
