I needed my electrical panel replaced ASAP. I purchased the coupon but was never contacted to get serviced. I had to vet another electrician and all the while with partial electric.
Description of Work: nothing. he did not even respond after I purchased the coupon.

He came out with his cousin who he was rude to, to the point of it being awkward to be around. I had another electrician come out for a second opinion and he was able to correctly hook the AC back up in my existing panel in a way that met code.
Description of Work: I asked him to look at a switch for an AC unit. Without asking me, he unhooked the unit in the main panel, then told me I'd need a whole new panel in order to connect it and meet code.

Response from B & K Electrical Services
[Member name removed], My cousin, who is on company payroll, did come with me to your job. I did not mistreat my employee. You called me to fix your air conditioner wiring, that you had wired yourself. I fixed a double tapped breaker in your sub panel, with your permission. To gain access to fix that problem, I had to unhook your air condition, that was not properly installed. It was not on the required double pole breaker, but on 2 single pole breakers, which one of those had the double tap. So to correct the improper and unsafe wiring, I had to unhook your air conditioner and fix the double tapped wire. Your breaker panel was completely full, and there was no space for your new air conditioner breaker. I informed you that I would have to go to the store and purchase 2 twin breakers to make enough space in your panel to bring it up to code for your air conditioner. But, I wanted to check with the city inspector to see if he would approve that. He said that the current state of the panel would not pass code, because it did not have a main shut off, so the only way to do the job to code would be to replace the panel. I do not do any work that does not follow code. I could have put in the twin breaker to accommodate the double pole breaker, but the panel is not even a 20 position panel. I did not, and the inspector did not, feel comfortable putting any additional load, such as an air conditioner, on that panel that is already full without having the required main shut off at the sub panel. The best thing for this application was to install a new 100 amp main breaker panel, 20 position, with a copper bus bar. I unhooked your air conditioner because it was 1)hooked up under two single pole breakers, not a double pole, and 2) because one of those breakers was double tapped with an additional circuit. That is 2 code violations making it illegal for me to leave the air conditioner hooked up. I do everything by code, which is why I informed you, and got your permission before I touched anything, that I was allowed to unhook it and leave. I then told you that I would contact you once the inspector called me back with his answer. I also fixed another code violation that I found, with your permission, where I took a 15 amp wire on a 20 amp breaker and changed that to the correct 15 amp breaker. I told you what and why I was doing each step of the way. Before arrival, the air conditioner receptacle was installed by the you, which was also improper, so I unhooked that as well, once again with your permission. I never forced you into any decisions about the work to fix the panel. I told you what needed to be done to code, and that once the inspector called me back I would let you know his answer. I left, and then once I heard from the inspector, I told you he required the panel to be changed. I do not do any work against code, for your safety, my integrity, and my protection as a business. You were informed the entire process of what was happening and why. When I left you also acted like you were happy with the work I performed. When I let you know the inspectors answer, you declined to fix the problem properly. I did not force you or try to force you to do anything, and was only informing you of how to fix the actual problem for the air conditioner that you called me for in the first place. If you wanted it fixed, that was the only way to do it. You paid $99 for your coupon through Angie's list. For the material I installed at your home not covered. I am sorry that you are unhappy with my service because I don't do anything against the national electric code. Your current panel set up is not to code. Another electrician also did not bring it up to code if they did not change your panel, because it is against code, and should be inspected when the work was completed. You were informed along the way of each and every thing I was doing. I never do any work without getting permission, and you gave me permission for everything that I did. My employee was also there to witness what I told you, and that you gave us permission to do so, and that you acted as if you were pleased when we left for the day. I am glad you were able to find a company that would do something against code for you, since you didn't want to properly install it with my company. Feel free to contact me if you wish to clarify anything that you may have been confused about at the time.

When we spoke on the phone to schedule the inspection, the provider stated that it would not be worth it to him to do the inspection unless we were pretty sure we were going to have him do repairs. I would like to just get my money back.
Description of Work: I purchased the whole-house electrical inspection as an Angie's List Big Deal.

I contacted Bill and he was extremely responsive. He came out and provided an estimate to wire the garage with the appropriate GFIs, receptacles and interior and exterior lighting. He returned two days later and completed the wiring/lighting project. I appreciated his expertise and was easy to deal with. The costs came in a little cheaper than the estimate.
Description of Work: Completely wired newly built 2 car garage.

Our lights in our family room had been acting funny for the past 5 or 6 months. They would blink off and back on again with no effect to the breaker. Bill found the problem, very quickly and then went about checking the rest of the room and the breaker box. He replaced the breaker and fixed the other switches and outlets in the affected room. He was very professional and provided me with peace of mind knowing that this problem will not occur again.
Description of Work: Spent time troubleshooting the problem, replaced all outlets and switches that could cause an ongoing problem, and he replaced the offending circuit breaker. Also looked at other possible problems for the future and gave advice on how to proceed. Very professional and knowledgeable.
