Chris McNamara is an extremely good communicator. Just as importantly, he backs up his words with performance. He responded to my initial request for a proposal rapidly and then continued the practice of timely response throughout the course of the job. He replied to both calls and emails almost always on the same day and usually within a very short time after I'd called or emailed him. He also communicated in a timely and effective way several times with my insurance company to help settle the claim in a satisfactory manner when their adjuster originally priced the work out as a patch job. The masonry crew themselves were friendly but not easy to communicate with in English. On the other hand, it wasn't really necessary to discuss things with them because Chris had taken care of that communication effectively too. In short, McNamara Masonry did what Chris said they would do when he said it would be done. The rebuilt and re-stuccoed chimney looks excellent--better than it did when I bought the house (which was nearly new--only 2 years old--at the time). I felt like the craftsmen doing the work were thoroughly professional at it. Chris McNamara is obviously working hard to continually build good word-of-mouth and he has the customer-focused approach that goes with that attitude. I'm happy to have a five year warranty on the work but I'm guessing the job will hold up well. While McNamara Masonry was not the absolute lowest bid I received, with a little good-natured negotiation they were in range. I was happy I used them and would use them again happily.

From the beginning we were very happy with Chris's service. We called Chris and he called right back. He came out as soon as he could and accessed our chimneys and brick damage. He presented detailed quotes on our problems with pictures. He answered our questions and explained what was involved. We hired him and were on the schedule as soon as possible. The work looks amazing. Very honest, reliable workers are still around!

Chris was a pleasure to deal with. He was very accommodating and was able to take care of the repairs fairly quickly. He understood my concern as there was another bad storm forecasted and I already had water damage from the old chimney. He was able to build me a new chimney the day before the storm. I am very grateful for his quick response and ability to get the work done on short notice. He did a very neat, clean and professional job.

Chris was very responsive to our plight. I called him on a weekend evening and he answered right away and came out the next morning. He climbed up our very steep roof and took pictures so he could explain the problem to us in detail as well as how long we could wait to have the work done. We were worried because of the upcoming storm and didn't want our chimney to fly off and rip up part of the roof as well. We arranged our finances and Chris started the work right away. Chris responded immediately to our phone calls about the process and was pleasant and professional and easy to deal with. Chris and crew worked quickly and efficiently and did a beautiful job. They finished on Friday- two days before the storm hit and everything held up beautifully. Everyone on the crew was pleasant and professional and cleaned up thoroughly. I would have given them an A+, but there was no plus, so I will give it here. I would definitely hire them again and I recommend them highly. The house looks great and it is intact despite Sandy's wrath. We had never worked with a contractor before and though nervous initially it turned out to be a very positive experience. The price was fair based on 2 other estimates we obtained. I can't say enough positive things about Chris and our experience so I will sum it up in two words- Hire Chris.

Called and left a message - waited 3 days and he never called back. Called again and talked to Chris. He was abrupt, bordering on rude. Asked him to wait one second with another call ringing in and he hung up. I left another message and he never called back. Business must be pretty good.

Chris is a true professional. I contacted him regarding some leaking around my chimney - there were some wet spots on the concrete block in my attic which leaked down into my living room. When I called him, he was the one who answered the phone. He was able to visit my home within a few days after my call. Chris quickly diagnosed the problem and took care not to damage my gutters when he climbed on the roof (another contractor dented my gutter with their ladder performing unrelated roofing work). He went back to his car, printed out color photos of the chimney and described the problem to me. He also prepared a written estimate on site and gave it to me before he left. The proposal was thorough and I believe that his recommended repairs would fully fix the problem. He also guarantees his work for 5 years, which gives me peace of mind. I don't think many other contractors would do this. I have not gone ahead with the repairs yet because of budget issues related to my recent move to the area and purchase of a new home. I undertook a quick fix myself which will likely not fix the problem forever. When I do go forward with the complete repair, I will certainly use Chris.

He was beyond fabulous. He went up on the roof to take pictures of the chimneys and showed me what was wrong and was back two days later to complete the work. The quality of the work was fantastic. I couldn't have been happier. He was also very fair in pricing.

Called for appointment. Arrived as scheduled-provided pictures, pamphlets and multiple proposals. THey included-work from roof-line up; roof-line up and area of failure above the foundation; replacement of decking and step-flashing on the roof (this I didn't need due to the new roof). Went with the second option. Workers arrived on time; work took a little longer (weather and damage was more severe near foundation-requiring a second coating); the work looked great; workers cleaned up area and left little evidence of their presence in the area where the scaffolding was placed. Great work!

Went smoothly from first phone contact to completion of the job. More damage was discovered as the repair proceeded, but Chris handled this very professionally and honestly and did the job right.

Mr. McNamara is readily reachable. It was easy to schedule a visit from him and he arrived when he said he would. He did a careful inspection and gave us a detailed report, including photos. He gave us a fair estimate promptly. We were flexible with our scheduling and he gave us some options. His crew began when they said they would. They were very courteous throughout the job. They were neat and clean as well. The finished job looks great. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Chris McNamara and his crew are real pros. Chris is extremely conscientious and thorough. Whenever I called or emailed him with questions, he responded quickly, usually within minutes. When he came out to give me an estimate, he got up on the roof of the house and took several photographs of the chimney from the top of the house so that I could see the extent of the deterioration of the chimney from the very top. From the photos, I could see that the damage to the chimney was worse than I had thought. He then gave me a range of three estimates (GOOD, BETTER, BEST) to choose from based on the scope of work. This was extremely helpful because I could see what was the bare minimum I needed to do to fix the chimney as well as the maximum I should do. A few days after he gave me the estimate, Chris came out to the house on a weekend to talk to me about the job and to answer my questions. He made suggestions of other areas of the house (which is made out of stone) that needed masonry work, but he wasn't pushy at all. He was clear about what should be an immediate priority for me to fix and what could wait. I got another estimate for the chimney from another masonry company, but that company wasn't as thorough or as able to answer my questions as Chris was. I contacted three of Chris' references and they all raved about the work his company did. Chris' three-man crew restored the entire chimney, from top to bottom. They repointed the chimney, replaced the terracotta flues, added a concrete coping (crown) at the top and also a stainless steel cap. The entire job, from start to finish, took four days. The crew was courteous, professional and cleaned up nicely each evening. Everything went smoothly, without a hitch. I highly recommend McNamara Masonry.

It job went well over all. A couple of neighbors have made positive comments about the work. It did change the look of the house -- since they can't totally match the original color. They started in the middle of the week and were finish by the middle of the following week, so they were done in the time-line they had originally projected. It is very messy job. There was a good amount of dust that went in neighbors yards, but I am not sure how they can prevent that since we live so closely. I am waiting for that big rain to wash the rest of the dust away. I would not recommend patch-pointing it will be obvious that the mortar is a different color when the work is at eye level.

Never responded to two phone calls and an email request.

Project was complete on time and within quoted cost.

He was prompt, punctual, responsive, and actually called ahead and started and finished the work earlier than originally schduled.

He told us that work that was previously down was scam work. It disappointed and disturbed us greatly that we were scammed. He said the work was shoddy. His estimate was conservative compared to the others that did shoddy work and considering the repair work he will have to do to fix the work that was already done.

This company has excellent reviews on angie's list. I called and Chris McNamara answered. I gave him my telephone #, address and told him he could come out at anytime to look at the chimney. He said he would be out that Saturday and would call before he came.5 weeks later i have neither seen not heard from him. He never showed up or called to reschedule if he had a problem.

Their estimate was for $13615. I thought that their price was premium but it was fair because they did premium work. Their staff’s friendliness was excellent. They were very good. They were excellent in terms of their punctuality as well. I was surprised because they were not right around the corner from us but they showed up on time. They were responsive and they were great. I was a little more price sensitive on this and I would have definitely gone ahead with them if I was not so price sensitive.

They were great! They were very professional and knowledgable. I would definitely recommend them to anyone else in the area.

These guys are pros. They come when they say they will, and do a great job. They're fast, efficient, polite and neat. I get the sense that Chris McNamara runs a tight ship and takes care of his guys. In turn, they deliver for him. He's not the cheapest, but he does it right. I plan on calling him in when I'm ready to re-do my basement walls.

Very professional, but estimate was high compared to some others. He came highly recommended. I have no reason to believe his work is anything less than excellent. A secondary consideration was that I needed masonry repair on two chimneys, and the lining replaced on one of them. A couple of contractors were able to provide both services, so the price may have been comparatively lower based on their being able to spread their fixed costs over the entire job. As of this writing, I have not had the work performed (will do so within 4-6 weeks).

Great. Open about estimate, always here early, worked continually, asked us what we wanted, and didn't try to sell us a larger project.
