K C Contracting

As a consequence of all of the snow we've received, a leak started in a bedroom closet on Sunday afternoon. We contacted KC Contracting the same day, after seeing favorable reports on Angie's List. We thought we'd have to leave a message since it was a weekend, but John answered the phone and we were delighted that he could come out at 8:00 the next morning to survey the situation. He arrived on time and was very honest with his assessment and advice. We decided to wait a few weeks before starting any type of repair but we will most definitely contact this company for the work. We were not charged for this consultation.

I called KC Contracting during Round 2 of the Snowpocalypse of 2010. I explained to John Kindler that we had water running down the insides of our walls due to ice build-up in the gutters and ice getting into our attic and melting. He told us to drill holes in our soffit to let the water drain out and said that he would come by the next day. He said it would be $100-150 to chip out the ice and throw salt in the gutters. He arrived the next day and said that he couldn't reach the gutter with the ladder he had on his truck even though I had already told him that we had a 2 1/2 story house. He also said it would probably be about $250 to have his crew do it (I guess the price increased because our house was taller than he expected). He wasn't able to come back for 3 days. In the meantime, I spoke with him on the phone and he said it would be $350-400 to have the ice chipped out and salt put in the gutters. He also explained that many other people were having the same problem and that he and his crew were very busy with other jobs. My husband and I debated whether it was worth $400 since it was only a temporary fix, but we were tired of cleaning up water and worrying about the damage occurring inside our walls. And my husband was tired of climbing into the attic several times a day to drill holes in the soffit. When John and crew came back, it only took 5-10 minutes for 3 guys to chip out the ice and throw in the salt (although we didn't see them working so we can't comment on how thorough a job they did). Since it was a quick job, John said it would only be $200. John also explained to us the potential gutter problems and what it would take to have them fixed. Unfortunately, gutter repairs are best done during the warmer months. John said he would be happy to come back at that time to look at the gutters and give us estimates.

I received a return phone call after I left two messages. Mr. Kindler set up an appointment with us to meet at our home about 1 week later. Mr. Kindler did not seem very interested in the remodeling project of our backyard kitchen and deck. He promised to get back to us with an estimate but after 2 months we still have not heard from him. I was very surprised because his company had the highest Angie's list rating when I searched the list in October.

John Kindler from K. C. Contracting came out to give us an estimate. He spent at least an hour looking at our old porch. He kept scratching his head in amazement of how poorly our porch was built. He gave us a cople options and we decided to replace the porch. His estimate was not the cheapest, but he was extremely thorough and really seemed to know what he was doing. In early June, he said they would probably start the first full week of July. I assumed that was an estimate and expected them sometime in late July or August. He contacted me on the 4th of July an said he would be starting that week. I was amazed that he was ready to start when he said he would. The guys on his work team were great. I was pet sitting my neighbors dogs while they were working. So, I had three dogs to move up to the neighbors house every morning, so I wouldn't have to hear them bark all day. I tried to get them out of my house before the crew came in the morning. I was late one morning and the guys fussed all over those dogs, even the scary, ugly bull mastiff. The crew was very polite, friendly and neat. They worked hard and got the porch finished in a week. The only thing that made the project run long was some electrical work that got done in September. The proch is beautiful and I was very pleased with John Kindler and his company, K. C. Contracting.

Responded very quickly. Was able to schedule an appt. right away. Prompt. Bill was exactly as quoted. Neat, clean, thorough, professional.

They removed the old slate roof and replaced it with architectural shingle roof. It was a terra cotta roof.

John was quickly able to assess what the problem was causing a leak into my house where handymen had been unable to in the past. His team did good work and the proof is in the results: no more leak!

The crew arrived exactly on schedule and began work promptly. Progress and possible problems were promptly explained during the work. It was necessary to repair an unexpectedly large section of roof planking. The contractor demonstrated the need for this work, explained options, and completed the work at a lower cost per square foot than was stipulated in the contract's contingency section. The contractor and crew were professional, polite, and friendly. Quality of work was very good, cleanup was very thorough, and all work was completed on time. This was a really positive experience.

Company owner was very helpful and frank with us. He and all workers were polite, cheerful and got along together. The tolls, debris, etc were picked up completely. The price was fair and we appreciated all explanations of work and adjustments. No incidents or accidents occurred.

The owner of the company is very personable. He went through every detail and found out if there was any problem. He also had somebody come out within an hour to fix a problem on one day when it was raining, as they usually don?t come when it?s raining. He asked me to call him up if there were any issues and he said that he would have somebody to come out to fix the problem. I will use their services in the future as well.

John was very prompt in returning our calls and was the only contractor that actually went up and took a look at the roof at the time of the estimate.He assessed that we needed new gutters as well (which we thought we did) His estimate was quite reasonable compared to the other estimates we obtained. He and his crew were prompt and courteous on the first day they arrived, working from 7AM to 3 PMthe next two days. The next several days were bad weather and was not able to finish, but on the next Monday the weather allowed his crew to finish the job early that afternoon and they cleaned up quickly and well. I would recommend this contractor to anyone looking for roofing

Crew started right on schedule. Took 10 days to complete (weekdays only, around 7am - 3pm each day). Every day, the crew was very professional, respectful, hard-working, and very clean in their work, tidying up everything before leaving for the day ... No disgusting yelling and loud music as I have experienced with other contractors (I work at home so it was very nice). John, the owner, was on-site working along side his crew most of the time. He was very pleasant and sincere ... solid work ethic and attention to doing it right over doing it cheap. I will readily use his services again when needed ... he and his crew are a rare find in the contracting industry.

The estimate I was given was a mistake and Mr. Kindler explained why . Mr. Kindler did take the time to have the situation reevaluated. He explained what would have been a one day job would take longer now because it is the whole gutter that needed replaced. Also that the one part of the gutter could not be done by itself. The work was done in reasonable time and Mr. Kindler and crew are professional. Mr. Kindler returned my phone calls.

He was very responsive and he did a nice job for me. It was a little more than I wanted to pay but I needed it done. The gutters were really clogged and my husband had hurt his back. They came right out to get the job done and did it well; I was really glad about that.

We have used John before and he continues to be a pleasure to work with. He promptly returned our call asking for an estimate. He came out within the week to provide an estimate and was able to start on the job the next week. He is always easy to work with and responsive to our questions and concerns. He does quality work and his crew is extremely professional and courteous. We have no problem referring him to our best friends.

John first had to deal with our township building inspector who was very strict. Once the work was started he and the crew arrived promptly every morning and worked all day. John and his crew made great suggestions throughout the process to insure that we would be satisfied with the end result. Their work was so good we asked them to redo the roof on the entire house. Of course because of all of the changes the final cost was more than the estimate, but we feel we got good value and are very pleased with the final product.

Our roof was leaking and creating a problem for us. It could have become a big problem if it were not attended to. A lot of people I called were not keen on doing the job because it was too small. However, this contractor said he was busy through the week and promised to take a look on Saturday morning at his own time. He came out on his own time and did the job without charging me for it. He said we could either replace the entire roof, which would have been expensive, or take care of only the leak. He took care of the leak. He came when he said he would come. It was a half day job for his crew. They cleaned up after themselves.

We got their quote a couple of months ago and their price was the cheapest estimate that we got. They also were able to answer all our questions. We have had a good experience with them coming out. They are working here now and doing a good job so far.

John Kindler was prompt and professional in returning calls and arranging the appointment. He was courteous at our meeting, and took time to talk to me about the job, even though it was clear at that point that I might go with someone else. I did end up choosing a different contractor for this job (someone I've worked with before), but I'm glad I got the chance to meet John from KC Contracting. I'll definitely keep his contact info on file for future jobs!

I emailed to get an estimate and I received a phone call back on the same day (a Sunday). We agreed if the job was not very expensive, they would do it at the time they came out to provide an estimate. The work was done quickly and accurately. I received a follow up call a few days later to ensure everything was still good and they asked that I let them know if there are any problems.

John was responsive, polite, and made good suggestions. We eventually decided upon another contractor who was able to do the work sooner and with a somewhat lower price but I would certainly consider John and KC Contracting again for any other work.

John and his crew arrived on time. Performed the work according to the contract. Crew was professional and courteous at all times. I would definitely recommend K C Contracting.

Everything went extremely well, from start to finish. John Kindler and his workers were professional and polite at all times. They always arrived when they said they would, and worked hard -- no goofing around!

We had an excellent experience with John and his company. During the bid phase (we asked for 3 estimates), he was very prompt returning my phone calls and very thorough answering my questions when I received his written estimate. He really knows his products and explained in detail what he needed to do with our roof. He even made a special trip to the house to show me shingle samples because I was having a hard time deciding on colors. As for the work, he and his crew came right on time and finished the job in less than two days. They were all very professional and careful with our property and cleaned up very thoroughly. When they encountered wood damage that needed to be repaired before completing the roof, John took pictures of it, showed those to me and thoroughly explained what needed to be done to address this issue. The price he gave me for those additional repairs was extraordinarily fair. The roof looks great and we couldn't be happier. I would highly recommend this company.
