K C Contracting

We have an unusual house for this climiate, and I hired John to do the house roof because he seemed most attuned to some of the issues I was concerned with. They came to do the roof when promised, and did a great job. His crew was courteous, and the work was done in a timely manner. The roof looks great (newer architectural shingles)... and so far seems to work as promised, no leaks in even the heaviest storms. The deck was a more dynamic process. In the end I hired John for this job because of the good experience we had on the roof. It originally was estimated at about $8,000 but as we took the old deck apart, we found a number of problems that (with my concurrence) had to be addressed. This included some rot in different places, and the decision that all the railings and gutters should be replaced, etc. Overall this cost about $3,000 more (I thought reasonably). Another $1,000 or so because I wanted the previously rotted wall on a shed adjacent to the deck done in cedar. The ultimate design was a collaboration between John and us, and he was very respponsive to our ideas. He clearly would have preferred to build the whole deck stationary (instead of the removeable sections), but did a great job of what we wanted; although I won't really know how well the removeable sections work until the wood totally dries out and we try removing sections. I also wanted a wall against the deck that was rotted to be replaced with cedar (to match the house) and John found the required cedar (a challenge these days) and did a spectacular job on rebuilding the wall and the doors to the shed. He also did a good job replacing some other boards against the house (had been below old deck) that were rotted. After John's crew removed the old deck, we had a "flat" roofer install a rubber roof covering both garages with one large piece of rubber. The new deck had to be built over this rubber without damaging it.... John was cooperative in the collaboration with the rubber roofer....and as required put rubber strips on the bottom of all the floaters, so that the rubber would not be damaged. The deck looks great. Again his crew was courteous and overall the process was efficient. John is a very nice guy, easy to work with, responsive to phone calls and to your requests. He is one of those people who really cares that his work is perfect....and it showed on the roof and the deck.

I found KC Contracting while I was looking for two different contractors for the construction of my deck and roof. They had great reviews for both services so I gave them a call for an estimate. As with most estimates I immediately became introduced with John Kindler, the owner of the company. At very first impression (& later throughout construction) John was very relaxed, comfortable with my wife and I and nothing but easy to talk to regarding my attention to detail. His estimate was not the lowest but it was significantly lower then others, this coupled with his strong reviews and personality made him the choice for us! During the planning process/ construction, John and his crew were very receptive to new ideas as well as permeating issues...as they experienced both:) I would highly recommend KC contracting to any home owner looking to renovate or expand their home (John is very versatile in his skills!). The job went smoothly with no suprises. John was able to schedule the work in order to meet the insurance company's deadline and my schedule.

I called Mr. Kindler for an estimate on a roof replacement. I didn't get an answer so I left a message. He returned my phone call quickly and stated that he would be able to squeeze me in but not for a couple months. I appreciated him calling me back and letting me know that it would be a while and fully understand that these roofers are very busy at this time of year especially highly recommended contractors on Angies list like K C Contracting.

Crew was punctual, neat, very clean and professional. Worked efficiently and did a remarkable clean up. Replacement roof far exceeds original contractor's roof. Made improvements to flashing and cured a long time seam problem between garage and house and repaired a leaky porch gutter. Compared to other roofers working in the area, this crew out performed them all and received positive comments from neighbors.

John called to say that he was able to advance the start date if that was OK with me. He and his crew arrived and were very organized and thorough. John explained all facets of the job, how the work would proceed and answered any questions that I had.His workers cleaned up at the end of each day and made sure that all materials etc. were stored properly.John is a hands on owner and was on the job with his crew 90% of the time as the work proceeded.In addition to the roof, John and his crew cleaned and corrected the slope of the gutters and fixed a leak in one of the corners.After the job was complete and I noticed that the gutter was still leaking following a rainstorm, I called and left a message for John, asking if the next time hey were close by they could take another look. A few days later, John left a message saying they had stopped by and corrected the problem when we were not home. He assured me that if we had any other problems to just call and they would be out.It was a pleasure dealing with John and his crew. I feel that the job was done right and I appreciate John's research in finding a product that I could use to solve my ventilation problems.

They did a lot of work. They very good at what they do. They are very particular. The workers do a great job and they were very courteous. The price was reasonable.

They did a good job. They were clean and neat. They were prompt. It was great because we had relatives and step kids coming for Christmas and they promised it would be done by the time they got here and they were right on time.

In both cases John responded promptly to all calls and presented us with thorough estimates before begining work. He alerted us as soon as he discovered any problems not covered by the estimate (example: the roof of the front porch needed some repairs due to water damage and rotting) and gave us the options available and costs. This year, for the room, he met with us at a building supply store to pick out doors, siding, windows and paint colors so we would know exactly what we were getting - at no additional charge. He and his crew are thorough professionals. The told us when they would be at our house and showed up when they said they would. All work was first rate. While they were here they were all business, there was no wasted time. The crew cleaned up after themselves every day and cleaned up completely when the job was done. John was on site every day and the jobs were done in one stretch with no gaps or long delays. If I had questions or concerns John got right back to me and answered my questions. He also told us what things he did not feel qualified to do, even if it meant turning down additional work. I would definately recommend him for future work and intend to use him again for work at our house.

I called K C Contracting and left a message regarding possible roofing work. John returned my call the same day. While his company did not specialize in my particular roofing issues, he was extremely helpful in telling me what to expect cost-wise with a company that could perform the work, and even recommended me to someone who could help me get my problem resolved. He probably spent at least 5-10 minutes on the phone with me going over several issues I had with my home and directing me to the appropriate contractors to handle said issues. While I did not use K C for service, I would not hesitate to contact them in the future if I felt my needs and their services aligned.

They did a good job. They were very good and professional. They were very quick, and they arrived on time.

I left a message for an estimate for a complete roof replacement. He returned my call within a day or two and said he'd come out that weekend. I was out of town and called him the following week to ask if he'd been out/when I'd receive the estimate. He said he hadn't gotten out to view the roof and would come in the next few days. To the best of my knowledge, he never came out, I never received anything and he did not follow-up with me. We ended up going with someone else. I appreciated him calling me back in a timely manner and he was professional on the phone, he was just unable to follow-through with an estimate.

John and his crew finished a bathroom for us. Our previous contractor quit mid-job and made lots of mistakes. John fixed the mistakes and hung the tile. We used glass and ceramic tile on the walls and ceramic tile on the floor. The whole experience was wonderful. The bathroom looks beautiful! John is a very nice guy, as are all the other guys working with him. They finished when they said they would and the estimate was spot on. We were so pleased with the bathroom that we are hiring them to gut and remodel another bathroom and the basement.

Fantastic experience with KC Contracting. Called in late spring for an estimate for a new roof / gutters / downspouts based on their excellent rating here on Angie's List. They did not disappoint! John quickly returned my call and had someone come out to look at the roof and take measurements. He called me back with an estimate which we were very pleased with. His estimate was in writing and was comprehensive of the work that would be done (ice shield, cost of new wood if needed, etc) He said that we were one of the last jobs that he was accepting for this year, and promised to get the roof on before the snow flies. We had an unexpected snow on Halloween (ha!) but he got the job done in early November, and we were so pleased. They cleaned up every evening (you wouldn't know that someone was working on your house by how clean they work). When they were done, I was expecting to find old shingles and nails around my yard - but I was wrong! They cleaned up and did an outstanding job. Neighbors were commenting on what a nice job they did and how neat everything was. The final price was spot on with what we had been quoted. I'd recommend KC Contracting to anyone!

John came out to do the estimate and was prompt and courteous. He helped us in working with the insurance company by providing detailed estimates. It took us some time to resolve the insurance issues, and we waited until they were resolved to have the work done. John was able to fit our large job into his schedule with about three weeks notice. The crew was here from Monday through Saturday, only taking off on Wednesday when it rained all day. They worked steadily, arriving at around 8:00 each morning and leaving at around 3:00 each day. They kept up a steady pace of work and I was very pleased with their attention to detail. They cleaned up every day, removing all of the trash and debris, only leaving their ladders in place. When they finished on Saturday, everything looked perfect. They had me come out to check for completeness before the left that last time, and I was satisfied with their work.

I truthfully cannot recall a better experience with anyone than with KC Construction. Three days ago owner John noted that he was booked until the end of the year/season, but had his crew come out yesterday (Sunday) to address my emergency. In one hour the serious leak that was causing me all sorts of grief was taken care of, but not just that: I asked them to inspect the roof in general; plug a leak in a box gutter on my porch roof (they also cleaned the gutter!); caulk around the chimneys (they found a need for this during the inspection) and advise about a missing 2-foot piece of soffit that I learned was a “tongue-in-groove “b” board. This latter is not critical structurally, so it can be done later.Finally, it was great news that my roof (installed decades ago) is in unbelievably top shape. Roofers with less integrity might have found all sorts of things “wrong.”I am poor on names, so I can’t report who the two roofers are. I rarely “glow” after having people out to work on the place, but am doing so as I write. :)After the work I got a call from John Kindler, the owner. He asked that I send a check for $150. His two men were there for about an hour, but there was travel time, it was on a weekend, and they worked incredibly efficiently during that time. To cash in my 10-percent-off coupon would not have been fair, so I didn’t.THANKS, John and KC!

John and his crew installed a new roof at my house. They were very efficient and installed the new roof in less than 2 days. Their clean-up was also excellent both between days and following the installation. I would highly recommend their services.

Excellent job, all done as agreed to and quickly. Clean up was perfect. No hassles. Owner on site for entire job, did some extras that were agreed to before the work, some not charged and all at a very fair price. Work quality was excellent. A little early to say if the roof will not leak, but the leaks have been ''repaired' 6-7 times in the past 20 years and never worked. Had heavy rains on two days during job (after old roof off and basic paper/first layer of flashing put on) and NO LEAKS!!!

I left John a message asking for an estimate. He promptly called back. Unfortunately he is booked for the rest of the summer and fall. I appreciated prompt, polite and professional communication.

They were punctual. They did a good job. They charged me exactly what they said they were going to charge me. I had no problem. Once they did that, I had no leak in my family room. My family room was leaking because of the ice. The workers that came out were good and there were no problems at all. I actually recommended them to others. I would use their services again if needed in the future.

This contractor promised to come out and look at our roof and provide an estimate within the week. As far as I know, he never came out. I never received an estimate or further communication from him.

We very pleased with the appearance and quality of the work they did and would definitely recommend K.C. Contracting to anyone.

Everything went well and we are so happy with our new roof, gutters, downspouts, and attic fan!!!
