I contacted the Merchant with a list of items I needed done around my house; but never received the courtesy of a response. If he was backlogged with other projects, I think a brief note stating that was not unreasonable to expect rather than to not respond at all.

Everything went smoothly. Brian arrived each day at 8 am with the needed materials. He worked on our home exclusively for more than three weeks. We were very pleased with his diligence and work ethic. He is an expert carpenter and his work is meticulous. We have recommended Brian to our family and friends and will definitely use him again if we are lucky enough to get him.
Description of Work: Planned kitchen remodel and renovated the kitchen, removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room, installed new cabinets, installed floors in the living room, dining room, kitchen, painted living room, kitchen, dining room and hallway and installed tile.

We?ve done many renovations at our house, and out of all of the projects, Brian is the BEST to work with for many reasons: Brian completely renovated our two bathrooms - and did so beautifully. His work was careful and detailed, and his pride in his craftsmanship was evident. Everyone who sees our bathrooms is quick to compliment them and the work Brian did. Working with Brian was easy and enjoyable; a true collaboration. He offered many useful suggestions and incorporated our ideas and personal tastes. Brain was extremely professional and dependable. He arrived early everyday, had already picked up supplies for the day, and was ready to work from the minute he pulled up. We were amazed how much he accomplished each day. He was meticulous and treated our house like a home rather than a renovation zone, and he cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. Brian was very efficient; the project was completed right on time and on budget. Brian made sure that any interference from losing a bathroom was minimized as much as possible and worked quickly to get us up and running again. Each day he communicated clearly about his progress and the status of the project. We cannot speak highly enough of Brian's work. We strongly recommend him and are planning to work with him again.

He came out on a cold November day and agreed to work in the cold to make our house be warmer and less drafty! He gave a great estimate, told us some ways we could get the doors and windows to arrive quicker in order to get the installation faster, and showed up when he said he would to do the work. He had to think through several problems during installation, as our house is old and unstandard, and it all came out great. Awesome, even! We had a question a couple months later and he was prompt getting back to us. Courteous, precise, good workmanship, fair price. Doesn't get much better than that!

This is the second time I've used this company and I just can't say enough about them. The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the house and mine hadn't been updated in 25 years. I absolutely love working with Brian. He's very thorough and covers everything and you always know exactly where you are with cost. We discussed a ballpark figure and at the end of the job, we were $4000 under budget, and I got everything I wanted, Brian's work ethic is impeccable, He's always on time, extremely responsive, and I love the way he guides me through my projects but most important is his work is perfect and this kitchen needed everything. I held off on this because I wanted to post before and after picture but I just can't figure out how to do it. The kitchen was outdated, depressing and gloomy and now it's beautiful bright and cheery but want I wanted to show was the beauty of Brian's work. Beautiful light hickory cabinets with under cabinet lighting, crown molding that is gorgeous, laminate wood flooring, beautiful new door and windows, granite counter and a backsplash that's so perfect everyone who sees it asks me who did it, they are so envious, they love it. BPD Construction and I have a 5 year plan, I won't let anyone else work on house. I'm grateful to Angie's list for finding the best of the best!!!!!!!!!!

Brian first came to my home to provide an estimate on a Saturday morning. Not only did he provide an estimate, but he took the time to walk me through the entire process explaining step-by-step what to expect during the demolition and remodel, how much material would be needed, timing of the project, price estimates for plumbing, electrical and construction phases, as well as fixtures, tile and flooring. Brian provided professional sound advice and opinons concerning my options and listened and responded to all my questions. I felt very confident every morning leaving my home knowing things were in good hands with Brian and his brother, Phil. Having never experienced a remodeling job at this level, I truly appreciated the step-by-step guidance through the process. In addition to the beautiful tile and general remodeling work, my home, from day one of demoltion to the very last day of completion, was left in the cleanest state possible. I would not hesitate to call Brian again for any future needs.

Brian and his brother, Philip, with whom he works, were extremely accommodating, honest and professional in every way. Brian responded to my request for an estimate in a timely fashion, and was ready to go to work almost immediately. They were extremely punctual, neat, clean and respectful while working in my home. My house is about 60 years old and when an unexpected plumbing issue arose, Brian contacted a plumber and worked to get the best possible job, at the best possible price, as soon as was possible! I was extremely pleased with BPD Contractors in every way, and would recommend them highly. Most assuredly I will call them again for any future projects and/or repairs in my home.

This is the 4th project I have had Brian do for me. As always, he returned my call quickly, and gave me a very reasonable quote. He suggested J and M Windows on Chester Pike, and they did an excellent job custom making my windows for a very good price. Brian installed the windows and the metal around them. He installed laminate flooring in the basement over our old ugly asbestos tiles. The laminate flooring looks AWESOME! He also installed my basement doors and front doors, putting new metal around them as well. Brian is a perfectionist, and it always comes through in his work. He won't quit until it's done right! And, the whole job came in under budget! I won't use any other contractor for my home.

After a disastrous flood in the finished basement of our 1950 built colonial, we, a couple of first-time homeowners, had some tough decisions to make about how to deal with the aftermath. After the emergency plumbing, water removal, repairs to the furnace, and replacement of our hot water heater, we began by having the entire basement professionally waterproofed, a costly endeavor that will hopefully be worth it in the long run. We then were left with uninsulated walls, drywall and studs that were cut two-three feet from the floor because of dry-rot, rusty electrical outlets, and a new sump pump pit that had to be installed right in the finished living area. We had hoped it could've been installed in a closet nearby, but that was not a possibility. Now, the task at hand was to begin the process of refinishing the basement. Enter Brian, an extremely friendly and professional guy, and a truly talented craftsman. We had decided to go with wainscoting as opposed to drywall this time around to give our basement a more refined and elegant look. Brian explained in great detail all of the work that would need to be done to bring our basement back up to code. He would reinsulate our walls, repair our studs, replace our damaged electrical outlets, reframe our doorways, install wainscoting, cap off the wainscoting, sand and spackle any damaged drywall above the wainscoting, and install the baseboard. His experience and descriptive language made it very easy for us to envision how the project would look when completed. Brian also built a custom cabinet in the corner of the room AROUND the new sump pump pit and installed wainscoating on the side of it, resulting in a truly unique built-in piece of furniture. It not only provideds extra table space and hides the sump pump as if it's not even there, but also gives us access to the sump pump in the event that it would need to be maintained. We were EXTREMELY impressed with the way this turned out. Brian was right on time everyday, and actually finished the project a day earlier than expected. The quote he gave us for materials just by eyeballing the room at the beginning of the project was spot on. We actually paid a little bit less than we expected. Brian also took time the day before the project started to go to Home Depot and purchase everything for us ahead of time, so as to get right to work the next morning. He explained every step of the process to us in detail, and did an excellent job accomodating all of our ideas, wants, and needs. The project turned out beautifully. When he left, our basement was far cleaner than it was when he arrived. Brian always notified us if he needed to move our belongings to get some work done. Because the basement was our primary storage space, some of our thngs absolutely had to remain down there. Everything was left extremely clean and organized. As Brian said, "I've been doing this a long time, and I know my way around a house." Brian explained that he does not contract any of his projects out. He either completes them himself or with a partner, so you always know EXACTLY what you are going to get. I am hoping we will not have to have anymore major construction done to our house in the near future, but in the event that we do, I will be sure and call Brian Donahue first. If customer service, talent, and reasonable pricing mean anything to you, Brian is the man for the job.
Description of Work: Extensive repairs and remodeling work on finished basement damaged in flood. Repairs to studs, electrical outlets, and drywall; resinsulation of walls, installation of wainscoting, cap, and baseboard, custom built cabinet to house (and hide) a new sump pump pit.

Most contractors would turn away from repairing an earlier contractor's shoddy work- but not Brian and Phil Donahue. They returned to give our small master bath a facelift by re-spackling poorly installed drywall; fixed a severely chipped ceiling by installing new green board; primed; painted and cleaned the grout on the floor until it shined again. The brothers did a wonderful job -it's like we have a brand new bathroom. Once again, they were prompt, respectful of our home and good communicators, as well as being master craftsmen. They are truly a breath of fresh air in the contractor world!

This was the first time I used Angie's List and it won't be the last! BPD Construction ( Brian Donahue )remodeled a small 50 year old bathroom for us and it was a pleasure working with him every step of the way. He and his brother,Phil are conscientious, excellent craftsmen, respectful of your property , punctual and professional. Brian returned my inquiry call within an hour to set up an estimate appointment. He showed up on time and after reviewing the project gave me a fair quote that we accepted. The work involved demolishing a tile floor, removing wallpaper, cleaning existing wall tile, installing new floor tile, vanity, toilet ,prepping and painting, His tile work is impeccable. The brothers left the job site each day cleaner than when they arrived. Brian's communication with me was excellent, leaving nothing to debate. He takes pride in his work and it shows. He subs out his plumbing work to a very responsive provider, who showed up within an hour of Brian's call to fix a small problem before Brian could continue the job. We have lived in this house for over 20 years and have worked with multiple contractors over the years. I can honestly say this was the easiest renovation project to date, because of Brian's good communication, punctuality, workmanship and respect. DO NOT HESITATE TO USE BPD CONSTRUCTION!

BPD ? aka Brian P. Donahue, did an amazingly quality job at an amazingly reasonable price for our small 5? x 6? bathroom total demolition and remodel. We found him through Angie?s List. After having him redo our bathroom, there is no doubt in our minds that Brian is heads above your average contractor, and a real bargain for the quality of work he will give you. First, he came out to bid the work, and sat with us for the nearly three hours it took to talk through all the details of the work we wanted done. Throughout that time, he answered all questions and made suggestions to assure we would be getting the best design possible. Brian is an owner-contractor, so we knew he would be on site and doing the work every day, although he did have an assistant a portion of the time. My husband has very high-quality standards, and by the end of our session, we knew Brian would meet or exceed all of our requirements. We immediately contracted for him to do the work. He started two days later. Brian was actually early every day. He told us his motto was, ?Being early is being on time.? At first he would wait in his truck until starting time, but once we realized that, we told him to start whenever he arrived. Thereafter, he would set up his equipment in the yard so that he would be completely ready, and still was early knocking on the door to start work. He didn?t eat lunch and worked energetically until quitting time, and sometimes, with approval, beyond. He is an extremely hard worker, who will take time to make sure everything is done to perfection. He sets goals for himself each day, and works vigorously to meet his self-imposed deadlines Brian was always respectful of our house ? each morning laying tarps anyplace he would need to walk. When sanding, or doing anything that created dust, he worked with the bathroom door close and a fan in the window blowing dust outwards. He vacuumed constantly! I couldn?t believe how many times during the day I would hear his vacuum going. Additionally, he cleaned everything up at the end of each day. When he left, you would barely know he had been there. We could see the same care applied to our home and belongings as he applied to his tools, which were immaculate. He also never entered any area of the house other than the room he was working in, and the walk area to the door used for entering/exiting. Brian exudes honesty and integrity, and we were were totally comfortable leaving him working while we were out. Brian was able to accommodate all of our requests as the construction advanced, and was professional and courteous at all times. All of the work cited above was completed in 13 working days! And it looks amazing! I would definitely recommend BPD to my friends and neighbors!
Description of Work: The work Brian did included complete demolition of existing tile, walls, ceiling and floor, and removal of all debris. He had to coordinate with our plumber, our HVAC guys (who were placing tubing in the walls once we had the room down to bare studs) and the electrician doing the light fixtures and exhaust fan. Coordination was smooth and resulted in no delays on anyone’s part. Additionally, Brian installed HardiBacker in the shower area, greenboard in the rest of the room, built a niche in our shower, framed out a recessed medicine cabinet, built a new subfloor, tiled the floor with 12”x12” tiles, the shower with 2”x2” tiles around the drain on the floor, installed 9”x12” larger tile on the bottom of the shower, a mosaic trim around the shower wall and in the niche, and 6”x6” tile on the top part of the shower as well as the shower ceiling. We had a chair rail tile that we used to frame out the niche and the outside of the shower, which was tricky, but Brian did a masterful job with it. He put down a new threshhold going into the room, as well as into the shower, put up baseboard molding and ceiling molding that looks like crown (but fits around our air conditioning vent and exhaust fan,) and put new trim around our door and window. Brian also installed a towel bar and toilet roll holder, and painted the entire room.

I initially called Brian for an estimate to renovate my kitchen, he returned the call within the hour and came to the house the next day (on time!). As I was not quite ready to start the kitchen, I asked Brian if he had a day or two for some miscellaneous work. I was so impressed with Brian and Phil that I immediately added some more work to our contract. Brian showed up every day on time, ready to work. Once these jobs were completed I knew BPD Construction would be the right contractor for my kitchen remodel. I was tearing walls down to create an open concept living /dining/kitchen area. I used a designer Brian recommended and included him in the conversation and so glad I did - the comments and ideas he had are some of the details that really make my kitchen special. Brian treated my home as his own and completed this job faster than anticipated and I never felt like I lived in construction zone. When I came home at night, my house was neat and clean and I was able to function. Brian always kept me informed as to where he was with the project and what the projected timeline would be for the balance of the project - no surprises. I can't thank Brian and Phil enough for a great job and my new beautiful kitchen. I didn't just find a contractor - I feel like I have new friends in the neighborhood! I have no doubt who I will call the next time I need work in my home - BPD Construction.

This is the second time I have used BPD for home remodeling. I moved in June and Brian fixed up my new house beautifully. He did such a wonderful job, I decided to have him get my old house ready for sale. I had a HIDEOUS pink and black bathroom. It had a wetbed cement floor which had a huge crack. It needed to be completely gutted and redone. Brian got down to the beams in only 2 days! He discovered that the plumbing needed to be replaced. He has an awesome plumber, also Brian, who did the work at a very reasonable price. Brian kept me informed of progress and problems all the way through the three week job. He went to Home Depot with me and helped me pick out everything I needed, while keeping below budget. He is like my construction angel! I am so happy with the job that he did at my old house. The realtor was also very impressed by the before and after! I will never use another contractor. I still have a couple of projects coming up, and BPD will be taking care of them. They are AWESOME!!!!!

Brian came right out to do the estimate. He was very thorough. I bought a house that needed a lot of upgrading. My kitchen was covered in pink tile and had carpet over a hideous old tile floor. The hall bath had pink fixtures and a pink and black floor. The master bath has a shower stall and had pink tile and blue fixtures. Brian immediately knew what I wanted to do, understood that I was on a budget, and got right to work. They had my kitchen tile torn off in like a day. We ordered the countertop, cooktop, and refrigerator. Meanwhile, he retiled the hall bath floor, replaced the vanity, toilet, and medicine cabinet. Then, the master bath had to be completely gutted. He laid a beautiful tile floor, retiled the shower stall, and replaced the vanity, toilet and medicine cabinet. Everything turned out so beautifully!!! I am so happy with the results. Brian was there to help every step of the way. If I needed anything, Brian would say, "I've got a guy!" We got all the plumbing and electrical work finished, and Brian came back to put up the backsplash in the kitchen after the countertop was installed. Brian is awesome! He cleaned up thoroughly every day, and kept me informed about progress. He finished on time and on budget! I would recommend BPD to anyone who needs home improvement work. I have already asked him to work on my old house to get it ready for sale. He is the ONLY contractor I will ever use!

Brian of BPD was very professional right from the beginning. He arrived on time to check out the project and spent time talking to us about the project. His estimate was reasonable and the project was completed as priced. We were very satisfied with the outcome of the bathroom and the quality of the work. Brian used subcontractors for the plumbing and electrical work and they were very good. I would use BPD again.
Description of Work: BPD gutted an old bathroom and replaced the walls, floor, tub, toilet, sink and lighting fixtures.

I emailed them the list of things to be done ahead of time...take down vertical blinds, install horizontal metal blinds, install curtain rods, hang curtains on 3 windows, lay a rug under a table, hang 2 decorative tiles and put together a dresser and carry an air conditioner to the bottom floor. I would pay add'l money to the coupon for extra time. I assumed they would split up to complete the work, but they worked more in an apprentice style.. The service provider was very detailed. They didn't get to the dresser to put it together or move the air conditioner. What they did do, they did well. I believe that if they had managed their time better they could have completed everything. I should have explained what was a priority.

I did not require their services after all.
Description of Work: I did not require his services after all but found him to be very helpful. He called me back right away, was very polite, and even offered to pick up items I might need. I feel he would have done a good job if I had hired him. I was happy enough that I would call him again if I am in need of a handyman or contractor service.

I have worked with so many contractors over the years and I have to say Brian is at the top of my list. He did some extensive work for me at this small apartment building. He really listened to what I needed to accomplish --- make the apartments look fresh, repair any issues and keep costs as low as possible. The reason I rate him so highly include: (1) His work is excellent. He is very detail oriented and even somewhat of a perfectionist. His spackle work is the best I've seen, his tiling is perfectly straight and level and he is skilled at everything related to building. (2) Project Management. When I first met Brian, he was telling me how he would run the whole project, bring in sub-contractors(plumber, electrician, etc.) as needed and make sure it all keeps moving. I have to say, this is one of the biggest values he brings to the job. He has some great connections that he brought in when needed and he is really good at planning the job and keeping everyone moving so the project gets done on time. (3) His work ethic and attitude are excellent. He is extremely punctual and reliable. He showed up every time exactly when he said he would and put in a good day's work every time. He was also very responsive to texts and phone calls (even on weekends). As a woman, sadly I am often talked down to by contractors, but Brian was always respectful and always open to hearing my opinions. (4) Cleanliness. Brian is one of the only contractors I've worked with who actually cleans up after himself every day. He likes a clean work area and won't leave you with a mess. He keeps his tools organized, he keeps the dust to a minimum. It's awesome. This was the most enjoyable experience I've had working with a contractor and I would highly recommend him.

Brian and his brother Phil could not have been more professional and are real craftsman. Even though no one was living in the house they cleaned up everyday and kept the house neat and organized. They paid careful attention to detail and offered alternatives to save us money at every turn. They created a punch list on their own at the end of the project and made sure we were completely satisfied before moving on to the next project. The house is just beautiful and we could not be more pleased. Do not hesitate to hire them.
Description of Work: Me and my husband had just been through two renovation nightmares with contractors whom either disappeared or did not know what the heck they were doing and left our home in a shambles over the course of five months. The prospect of hiring yet another contractor to complete our half finished renovation project caused us a great deal of anxiety and left us truly jaded. I found BDP on Angie's List and emailed Brian Donahue to come meet with us to review the project and give us a quote. His reviews on Angie's list were impressive and I was hoping he was just the guy we needed. We met with Brian and explained what we had experienced, the work that had to be redone or repaired or completed and the work that had not even begun yet. Brian spent a couple of hours with us that day going from room to room, making suggestions and leaving us with a feeling of confidence. Our renovation project included exterior flashing around doors and windows and soffits, exterior painting, installation of steel and storm doors, re-installing kitchen cabinets, building a soffit in the kitchen to receive the cabinets, saving us $600+ on crown molding that could not be used in the space, repairing ceilings, repairing plaster, completing a half finished powder room, building new closet spaces, installing all new trim, installing all new interior doors, staining stairwell banister and repainting the entire interior of the house.
